I came by to say my new way of measuring is just largest circ on bust, smallest on waist, largest on hips. Works better than guesstimating for me. I guess I could tattoo the places where I measure, tho....

Are you going to Turkey or Greece? By yourself? Sounds wonderful. I love active vacations, I go all day and eat what I want and don't gain weight--but we hike, walk, move all day. I'd love to go back to Greece, it's so beautiful.

So I had a great vacation saw Athens, sailed through the Cyclades, drove around Turkey, and wondered about Istanbul. Amazingly enough despite my refusal to track any food on vacation combined with enough olive oil, honey, and wine to knock a person down I didn't gain any weight so bravo for NEAT and walking up all those damn hills.

Weight- 217.4
Chest-46
Waist-38
Hips-47 1/2

This month I will be focusing on tracking my eating and following OPT, maybe with some x-country skiing thrown in seeing how the damn snow is not melting.

So I did my first night of A1 and boy do I suck at the plank 30 sec was all I could squeeze out and I couldn't even do that on the third try. Maybe snowboarding will be easier this winter though with a stronger core and maybe I'll fit into my snowpants

If I can choke down a chicken salad after I finish my pwo shake my day should look like this:

Calories 1605 / 1600
Protein 162 /160
Carbs 138 / 140
Fats 45 / 44

salad greens with grilled chicken, mango, and mandarin sesame dressing
two pickled eggs
grande pumpkin spice late nonfat
two ryvita pumpkin seed crackers with mustard and ham
pwo shake w/ skim milk
salad greens with grilled chicken, mango, avocado, and mandarin dressing

Usually if you're active enough during a vacation you never seem to come home any heavier. It's the transition back to 'normal life' that is harder. You never keep up the activity level... so the extras need to go.

Well it was shaping up to be another awesome day in dieting land, was in clear sight of hitting my macros, had done some exercise for the day, and then bamn work calls me in. Apparently I'm the only person not smart enough to screen my calls, so besides showing up a day early I'm also on another week of nights.

Now the problem with eating and working overtime is that your expected to bring in food when your called in short notice as you can be reimbursed for it. Since there was no time for the store I raided the cold room and freezer and ended up with a sirloin tip roast to rotissere, some potatoes to bake, and a little broccoli. Only I ended up making stuffed twice baked potatoes and would have drowned my broccoli in cheese sauce if I had remembered milk to start a sauce with.
So problem #1 excessive cooking at work (I'm a sucker for compliments)
and
problem #2 I'm not brave enough to weigh my food in front of everyone

New resolution for the week, is to weigh the damn food. I know no one should care so why does it matter, because in the back of my head I think people see me weigh my food and think 'oh she must be dieting' ergo she must be fat. Well from my pics they can tell that without seeing me weigh my food, so time to knuckle down.

You can maybe get around that with a fair amount of estimating. I cook pork tenderloin and if I know that it's 16oz raw, I can take half and log it that way. With the roast you can maybe do the same thing.

Or, just take the scale with you.

Thanks Anne, I did estimate what I ate the other day and it wasn't too bad around 1900 cal instead of 1600 so today I'm doing a low day to average it out. I also made a Costco sample meal in my tracker for 300 calories so I stop grabbing samples at random while shopping, since I would have to enter them.

I felt amazingly sore after the first two OPT workouts, I'm glad I didn't up the weights to what I thought I should be doing. Its amazing how weak you get after a few years of thinking about working out and not actually doing it. I missed the next two days of cardio though, the first day I got called into work that night so I swept a few buildings for over an hour, but tonight I'm stuck working the board and can't leave the computer for more then a few minutes. I think I'll try and take the dogs on a walk tomorrow as well as weights to make up for it a bit.

I was just talking about the Costco samples today in my own log. I've stopped taking them years ago because we would end up with stuff that never tasted as good at home.

Another day of nightshift and another day of sleeping through my alarm and not waking up to exercise. Is it better to sleep 9 hrs if your tired or sleep 6 and power through a workout and laundry? If I'm ever going to do the latter I need to buy a new alarm clock as my cell phone alarm clearly doesn't cut the mustard.

On a positive note as I was laying in bed, not wanting to have to get out the flannel sheets, I was having a low motivational moment where I was thinking screw dieting, I want to have bacon, eggs, and slices of buttery toast for breakfast if I'm forced out of this bed. When I did make it out and weighed myself I had a new low on the scale, so I happily ate my poached salmon salad for breakfast.

I'm debating whether to extend the sections of OPT until I can finish the exercises in them. Instead of three weeks it might take me four or five to fit in all the A1 A2 workouts and I would just stay with that deficeit until done. I think with the exercises are fairly progressive and I don't think I can handle a T plank when I can bairly do a normal one for 30 sec. I also need to buy a new wristwatch to time my rest intervals, as mine died on vacation. I love the timex ironman with the split timer, but it is the shittiest water proof watch ever, this was the third or forth one to die on me after swimming in the last few years.

That's a good question really. I'd say the sleep is better, but that's because I know I simply don't function as well on less sleep.

Now the bacon and eggs sounds good... pretty good thing that we don't have any bacon around.

.
I backup my normal alarm with a cheap kitchen timer. It doesn't always get me up but I rarely sleep through it.

Ain't that the truth.. sofar ALL of my active holidays including the last one that involved driving around (but camping too) had me lose or maintain weight.
All of these same holidays, except the last one where I tracked every bite afterwards, had me pack on weight at a frightening rate upon coming home, especially after the most active ones where you'd actually need to eat a humongous amount of food to maintain..

Now is the time to be the most vigilant.. well it's 2-3 weeks after you returned (just started reading your log) & I'm curious what happened in the meantime

Well tommorrow I will try to get back on track with the weighing my food and exercising. This is how badly my diet sucks when I don't plan anything and just go with the flow as I did the last two weeks.
Today consisted of 4hrs of sleep, a glass of milk and a cup of tea on waking with 1/2 a cupcake that had mile high icing. 1/4 bag of popcorn and watched New Moon (is there an elevated calorie burn from watching hot shirtless guys?) 3 chocolate dipped cookies from a christmas tin at work with my coffee, 4 lime tostidoes from random bag on the table at work, and then I made spaghetti with lean beef and italian sausage sauce and garlic bread for midnight supper at work, a bowl of that washed down with diet pop.

No wonder I feel like crap.
