Yeah, my protein hasn't been in line with OPT either for a while now. I still am happy with my results from last week, but a part of me wonders if the inches lost would've been higher if I'd been better with the protein. Oh well.
Anyway, when does school start for the students (or has it already)? And what grade do you teach? I don't think I ever heard.
I don't think you'd have lost more inches. Protein helps to spare LBM during dieting so that you lose more fat than muscle....but when it comes to weight loss, it's always calories in vs. calories out, right?
We start on the 8th, I teach K-5 and students specifically with learning disabilities and physical disabilities.
------------ Sept 1 Weight: 121.2 Training: B2 I had to cut my last set of db getups and crunches due to time. Cardio: Just walked around a putting course.
And, the best part....I usually think I retain water when I have alcohol but this morning my weight was....120!!! I doubt it'll last tomorrow, I'm sure it was a dehydrated, alcohol induced weight thing. Oh and my sushi turned out well, I did just make california rolls but more importantly, people like them!!!!
Yes, but just think, you know what to do if you want to drop a little weight fast overnight. Just drink!
It's always nice to make food that other people enjoy. Makes all the work worthwhile... and the clean-up.

I guess I was thinking that since more protein would help preserve LBM and muscle is denser than fat, I may've seen a higher rate of lost inches, if that makes sense. But there's no point in dwelling on it.

Oh, cool! That doesn't sound easy (I don't think teaching ever is, from what I've seen) but does sound rewarding.

Yeah, the getups take awhile. I had to cut out the last set a time or two, as well.

Exactly!!!! And cleanup is always taken care of by hubby. Before and after...I just have to slave away all day cooking! It's a pretty good deal.
Scribess: I get what you mean about muscle being more dense than fat = more inches lost but it's probably taking detail oriented to an extreme level.....sounds like you're losing at a great pace!
-------- Sept 2 Training: OFF Cardio: 4 mile run @ just under 9 min miles. It was supposed to be intervals but I just wanted to go for a run with hubby and in terms of intensity, it was pretty equal with the intervals outlined in FLTS. Weight: 122.8 BOO!!!!

Thanks! I'll stop hijacking your log about it.

I wound up not doing a lot of the interval work, but like you, still had higher intensity stuff. And running with hubby is good.
on the scale increase. A similar thing actually happened to me when I had some alcohol (I don't drink all that frequently, so I think I'm sensitive to the effects of even one drink)--initial big loss, followed a bit later by a big gain. Hope it drops down again soon!

I'm hoping my weight is water weight related to TOM? I am due to get my period Mon/Tue. Oh well, such is life in the world of fatloss!!!!
I actually enjoy intervals, I find it makes cardio go by faster and it's nice that Leigh has walking breaks. I just knew that hubby would NOT be up for intervals. LOL.....
So, I have only a few more days of freedom left. This means that the onslaught of school shall begin shortly. I'm a little nervous with my caseload this year as I have a lot of high need students but they are sooo cute. It amazes what parents of children with physical/intellectual disabilities are willing to do for their kids. They are heroes. Truly.
On other notes, I have intervals planned. My legs are still trashed from my workouts on Mon/Tue and then the run yesterday, which had a pretty good pace to it.
Sept. 3 Cardio: Intervals as outlined by Leigh. Kind of. My HR was slightly higher than prescribed during the run portion. My fastest pace was 7:00 min miles!!!!! Training: OFF
Other fun stuff: I bought the new Palm Pre today! Except Canada's carrier, Bell, is having technical difficulties and I can't activate my phone yet. Soooo irritating! It was a toss up between the iPhone 3Gs and the Palm Pre....I decided to forego the over-hyped iPhone.
And I'm still waiting for my phone to be activated. Why does it take 24hrs in this day and age of technology?? Plus, I have a new toy and I want to play with it RIGHT NOW! LOL.......
I also have some Amish friendship bread starter. I think I'm going to bake some friendship bread.
I took pics again and I *think* I see small differences. I but that could be my eyes playing tricks on me. Definitely not astounding 2 month comparison, there were diet breaks in there. But hopefully this will be motivation for me to keep on going and seeing this through!!!!

I haven't worked much with a Herman-type starter (and as eventually it eats all the sugar, I figure it doesn't make much of a difference from a regular sourdough starter anyway) but I love playing with my sourdough starter. Happy baking!

Yay for motivation!

I still can't believe that it's September. The weather has suddenly become summer-like, and we haven't had rain in... gee, I honestly can't remember. That means it has been at least a week. Anyway, good luck on the challenge.

Ohh..rain, don't get me started!!! It was raining here this morning. Vancouverites are passionate

You're right. It just wasn't as sunny of a day, I should have turned more lights on. I think my front view shows a bit of progress. At any rate, inches lost shows that I'm slightly leaner. Since I'm in the challenge and I'll be taking regular pics and measurements, I'll do my best to keep the lighting consistent!
-------------------- Sept 5 Training: B2 Cardio: intervals
Above are yet to be completed but complete they must be!!!! Weight: 121.2 Finally back down!
Other notes, I love my Palm Pre!!!! I played with it basically all afternoon. I have never owned an iphone but I don't think I'm missing much.

One of my coworkers was showing me his iPhone the other day, and it's sad that the apps that nearly sold me on it werethe Chipotle and drink database ones. That tells you a lot.

I used to own a windows mobile and recently have switched to an iPhone. I can honestly say its by far the best phone that I have ever owned. Especially if you Jailbrake it (hack it so that the apps that you install on it do not have to be approved by Apple). Its completely changed my life.
The most usual features for me are:
5 day realtime weather updates
London transport live updates (notification of disruptions etc)
Push mail - mail sent straight to my phone
IM client can chat to all my buddies on the go
Tasks and calendar which is synced with my online account
Loads and loads and loads of games
Running app to help me start/stop interval training

Surfing the web on the go
....etc the list is endless!
As you can see I am fairly passionate about it
The palm pre does all this EXCEPT, it doesn't have as many apps on it since the iphone has been out longer. But the potential is huge. And as far as I can see, WebOS on my phone is better than the iphone. Now, no more promo's of that apple product.
Consistency is hard with the progress pics. As long as I keep wearing mismatched underwear, I know I'm fine!
Thanks!

LOL.....I know my phone doesn't have as many apps but I think it has useful ones, I don't plan on playing games on it so I don't feel ripped off.

Well, I have to admit that I'm having problems connecting Microsoft Exchange on it.....
Sept. 6
Rest day
Then we went to Bellingham for the night for some shopping with some friends. And there consumed more wine than usual, thus over my caloric intake.
TOM also started so my weight is up by a few pounds.
Sept. 7
Training: B1
Cardio: Walking
Cals: On
--------------------------
So, officially I'm in the challenge. Please note above pics.
Measurements
Chest: 29"
Waist: 27"
Hips/Ab (I probably measure the wrong area but I don't have hips....they are small): 33"
R. Thigh: 20:
The plan and the goal:
Finish out OPT in the next 6 weeks and see if I can get to 118lbs. And see what I look like. If it's skinny enough, then I stop and get back into running. If I'm not, then I take a 2 week break and hop back on the fatloss wagon. I can't see myself wanting to get any leaner than 115lbs anyways.
Good luck with the challenge, and with finishing OPT!

I'll be cheering you on during the challenge. How has settling back into the school routine been?
Thanks! Oh, settling into school routine is tough. I feel everything is rushed. My days go by fast and by the time I workout, make dinner, finish dinner, it's at least 8pm. I miss the days of a more relaxed schedule! OTOH, my kids so far are great, I have a kid with CP and he's soo cute. Working with special education kids is something else. And seeing the parents work so hard for their kids and love them sooo much is heroic.
Sept 9
4 mile run.
This was more of a tempo run where for at least 3 miles I was maintaining a pace around 8:30/mile or up to 8:00/mile.
I even wore husband out, who was like, "What are you doing? Trying to kill me?" I just smiled and kept on running. Heehee
Calories have been on, maybe 100 over. I'm thinking though I have to re-calculate my calories. My current OPT cals are based on working from home on Leigh's activity quiz. Which means pretty minimal activity other then workouts. I'm definitely moving more in my days now that work has started up and the last thing I need to do is run my body into the ground.
Sounds like a good idea to retake the quiz. I imagine teaching can keep you pretty active! Plus, it's very nice to be able to eat more!

all I know is that this week I have been hungry and tired. Probably the deficit compounded by the start of school. So I re-calculated my cals and I only get 170 more. Better than nothing I guess!
I only had classes three days this week and I'm completely whipped. I think it's simply the change in routine, which eventually I'll get used to. Hope that you do as well.
