I agree--thanks for the links! Set up an account with Physics Diet and am now using that to graph my progress.
Must've blanked out on the maggot bit, but it does remind me of the fly infestation I had in my apt earlier this year. Seriously 12 in one day, with 7 or so the day before that and another 4 for the next following days. So I must've had maggots somewhere at some point; I don't think that many could crawl in from outside. Blurgh.
Nice work on the chinups!

Mmm...gotta love those maggots, huh? I had an infestation once in the garbage can like you. Gross.
Awesome work on the chin ups!!! Are you doing your rests totally off the bar, or just hanging? Maybe a silly question, but. . . .wondering.
No sign of the maggots since -thank god!
That was a good day for chin-ups. Yesterday I only managed 3. During rests I get off the bar. On page 2, post 55 of my log I posted a picture showing who I was doing my chin ups. Just from standing, I grab the bar and pull myself up.

I'm amazed at how much neat stuff is out there these days as far as dieting goes, and most all of it is free.
Yeah, I think I just typed in something like 'diet, charts, averages' and it came up. I feel so much more positive now that I can see the averages and that the line is going down!

Took pictures today but I won't post them. Going to work hard at workouts and diet during Stage Five then I may post some pictures.
124.25lbs today but then I was 123.25lbs yesterday. Seem to be staying around 123 and 124lbs at the moment so at least it's not 125! Scales have said 24.3% bf for the past few days despite fluctuating body weight which I take as a good sign.
Hello my fellow "Charlottean". Figured I'd pop in and say 'hi'. I've managed to take some decent pictures of myself (well I can say I tried taking them! lol) that I posted in my blog. Hope your day's going well!

Looking good, Hazel!
I'm going to post some comparison pics on Sunday. There's a pic of me looking pudgy from about Oct 2008 but the weight and bf% I have written on the back of the picture are lower than they are now (same scale) - and I look better now.
So, I tried to post at home on Wed but my internet failed and then yesterday I was back at work but was super busy. The post I started on Wed included this picture:
This was a birthday card my friend gave me. I love it!!
So, my first Stage Five workout. It was strange to suddenly go down to 4 reps and I was a bit thrown about what weights to chose and I was surprised they were only a bit heavier than what I was lifting before.
Stage Five, Workout A1
One-armed DB snatch 3 x 4 @ 12kg (26.4lbs)
DB single-leg Romanian DL
2 x 4 @ 2x10kg (2x22lbs)
1 x 4 @ 2x12kg (2x26.4lbs) Barbell bent over row
1 x 4 @ 30kg (66lbs)
2 x 4 @ 35kg (77lbs)
DB single-arm overhead squat 3 x 4 @ 6+12kg (13+26.4lbs) DB incline bench press
3 x 4 @ 12kg (26.4lbs)
Plank 1 x 98 sec
1 x 85 sec Reverse wood chop
1 x 4 @ 16.25kg (35.8lbs)
1 x 4 @ level 5
Body Matrix 1st time: 3.23 mins Rest: 6.46 mins
2nd time: 2.59 mins! Couldn't believe I did it in under 3 mins!! The jumping lunges felt much easier the 2nd time around.
I did 3 sets instead of 4 (and 2 instead of 3 for plank and woodchop) as I had to get home but I wanted to fit in the Body Matrix - and I'm glad I did!
.. I wanted to fit in the Body Matrix - and I'm glad I did!
Weird! I think you're the first person I see who liked the BWM
(Though I admit I've done a bit of BWM-ing on non-workout days just cuz I had lots of energy and felt like it... guess I'm weird, too..)

I don't like it but after a few days of not tracking calories I felt I need to do some jumping around! Plus, it doesn't seem quite as bad as in Stage Three.
Just looking at the Nike website for t-shirts and came across this.
I think we'll all agree that this is the truth!
Speaking of clothes, this is the top I'll be wearing tomorrow night for my birthday drinks.
It's really pretty and a beautiful colour (a cooler lilac in real life). I'm feeling brave for having my shoulders/upper back on show (especially as my keratosis pilaris is not improving despite much effort from me). I was thinking how I'm not totally happy about how I look in this top but I keep thinking about how good I'll look in a few months when I put it on! There, I finally have a 'visual' goal in my head!
Looks pretty! But... you'll be cold in that in a couple of months :P
Ya, keratosis is a real pain
I love sleeveless, and prefer racerbacks. I know I don't look my best yet, but I'm damn proud of what I archived, and that makes me confident enough to wear tanktops and stuff. Just wear it! (Though it seems you were already planning to.)

I love the kitteh w/the dumbbell pic, and the tops! The lilac one in particular is really sexy. You should post a photo of yourself modeling it, because I bet you'll look hawt.
That BW matrix... eesh, does it bring painful memories for me. Little did I know that I'd be repeating parts of it at the end of my speed workouts with the running coach many months after the end of NROLFW.
I was thinking I could wear it for Christmas parties and by Christmas I will be (to quote Joyce) hawt!
I've already worn it so at least I know I do feel comfortable in it. I'll try and get a photo of me in it. I've never been brave enough to wear racer backs but I hope that one day I'll choose to wear them to the gym regularly (and of course, when the weather is hot) but sorting out bras for them is not fun! When I wore the top the other day I had a little plastic strap that pulled the straps together at the back so they were hidden but at some point it popped off!

To stop me just talking about clothes and posting pics, I'll talk about my birthday presents. Loving the digital food scales - been playing around with them lots and I'm so impressed that you can measure liquids. Next things to measure - peanut butter, jam/jelly and the sunflower spread I put on my toast.
I'm also reading NROL now. I dipped in and out of it but now I'm reading from the beginning. I think Lou Schuler's writing style is great. I can't wait to try the Fat Loss programmes.
The pink top is adorable, exactly what I want to wear when we go dancing and I get so hot. I will wear sleeveless, but not quite that bare yet. I can't wait to be slim and hot (just not overheated....lol)

Well, I'll tell you, I was overheated in it on Tuesday and there was visible evidence that I was hot so the past few nights I've been swiping on my super-strength antiperspirant so I should be ok tomorrow. I hate being a Sweaty Betty. Bring on the cold weather!

I don't know if I have the guts to wear the Nike T-shirt to the gym - yet. There was another one that just said "Strong, Beautiful, Me" but I thought that was a bit much!
I also like the kitty with the dumbbells! Adorable.
And I agree, that's a lovely top! You'll definitely look hot for your bday drinks.
And happy pre-birthday!

Love the card and love the top! Purple of any shade is my favourite colour and my wardrobe definitely gravitates towards it!!!! I'm sure you look great in it!
One thing I've realized and this is probably stating the obvious for some, but most of the time, we're too hard on ourselves. The people around us aren't critiquing our clothes or how we look in them like we think they are.....Pull off a piece of clothing with confidence and guaranteed no one is thinking/saying "OMG, she really needs to lose the pudge on her triceps!"

I love purple too! Purples, blues and greys make up my wardrobe with a little tan thrown in.
Oh yeah, I know I'm too hard on myself, my mum tells me all the time. So I'm gonna strut my stuff tomorrow night!
Thanks! They're post-birthday drinks, birthday was on Tuesday.
Whoops! Happy belated birthday, then.

Birthday drinks were good, good to see friends I don't see regularly. I didn't drink too much either. Yesterday started off ok but I seemed to go into a slump and I feel like I haven't got out of it yet.
I was thinking that I feel like I need to write a few resolutions/goals now I've had my birthday (sort of re-evaluating what I want to achieve this year). I keep reading horoscopes (not that I believe in them) for this week that say for Leo:
"There is a New Moon in your sign and this brings you a chance to create changes in any area of life you choose."
OK! Seems like an ideal time to take the bull by the horns!
I definitely need to drink more water. I was pretty bad last week. Also, I need to stick to my calories.
Stage Five, Workout B1
BB Romanian DL/bent-over row
4 x 4 @ 35kg (77lbs)
Partial single-leg squat
I wasn't sure how to make these harder for the 4 reps. I made sure I went down as far as I could but next time I may increase the weight.
3 x 4 @ 10kg (22lbs) Wide grip lat pulldown First time I could go up to the next plate! Woo! Still hate the 2 handle version of the machine that we have at our gym.
3 x 4 @ 38.5kg (85lbs)
Back extension I find this really awkward - have to do it leaning over a bench. I can't get the positioning right and I need to find something to hook my feet under otherwise I feel most of the movement in my lower legs!
2 x 4 @ 10kg (22lbs) YTWL
3 x 4 @ 2x4kg (2x8.8lbs)
Swiss ball crunch 3 x 4 lever + 4kg (8.8lbs) Hip flexion (Jackknife pike) Just checked out Nat's video for this so I can do it better next time.
3 x 4 Lateral flexion (Swiss ball side crunch)
I did these at a deliberate speed and made sure I got a full ROM. Anything else I can do to make it harder?
3 x 4 Prone cobra
3 x 120 sec
I was feeling tired after my night out and didn't fancy doing intervals. I thought about doing body matrix instead but jumping didn't appeal either! I managed 10 mins on the elliptical are varying levels - that was enough to wear me out...
Ok, looking through the other logs (realised I haven't done it properly for a while) has motivated me. Maybe I was getting JP Fitness withdrawl symptoms?
Cals for today:
1429 cals
138g carbs (39%)
122g protein (34%)
44g fat (37%)
Protein wasn't going to be that high and cals should have been lower but my new protein powder arrived today and I wanna try it! I went with chocolate mint - it was the best by far. Tasted just like a liquid mint-chocolate bar. Yum! Tastes great just mixed with water - very impressed.
Bunny update - just have to knit the top of his head, sew up his legs and sew on his arms and ears. Then do the embroidery on his face. I originally named him Benny Bunny but he is now called Bumpy Bunny due to all the wrong stitches and mistakes I've made. But I'm keeping him for myself so I don't mind. This is the first time I've knit a full item on double point needles (stitches divided amongst 3 needles then you use a 4th needle to actually knit). The Stitch n Bitch book describes it as like wrestling an octopus. Very true.
This allows you to knit continuously in the round with no seams.

Regarding the back extensions: Have you tried them leaning over a swiss ball? Perhaps if you get one of the big balls and then put your feet under a bench, it would work better. What you want is something behind your heels so when you lean forward you are held there. Big swiss ball under your hips with your heels under a bench just might work . . . . .?
It tasted good last night, quite minty. I was so fed up with vanilla.

At first I tried them on the ball. I think it's just finding somewhere convenient to anchor my feet then I'll be fine.
It's really frustrating only having 2 benches at the gym (one adjustable, one flat). I want to suggest that they get another adjustable one. And that they shouldn't paint the gym any of the hideous colours that they've swatched on the wall so far!
