Default "You down with OPT?" "Yeah you know me!"

"I'm down with OPT!" "Who's down with OPT?" "Everybody!"
(okay, I know it was a little corny)

Hello all. I decided to start a journal here on this site. I just purchased Leigh's Fatloss Troubleshoot and am anxious to start OPT!! I spent the last day trying to get my cals and macros figured out along with purchasing some food.

A little about me:
5'10, 182lbs, 29yrs old, I Have a DBF of four years, no kids and a beautiful 1.5 yr old maltese!

I am a middle school pe/health teacher and a coach. I have always been active and have always had to deal with my weight. (I am pretty certain that if I hadn't played ball I would be very large!)

I played college Basketball and have always been around Basketball and physical activity...however, my eating habits are pretty bad. My junior summer I found 40-30-30 and ran 3 miles every day that summer only to come back about 40lbs lighter! Everyone thought I was sick. However, I didn't lift any weights and I was still very soft. I am sort of lucky that I am tall because I can hold more weight than others(everyone always asks why I am trying to lose!)...but I have a lot of fat.

I am addicted to everything fitness and will probably be broke because of it. I have every diet/fitness book available(its almost a sickness)...the biggest problem is sticking to a program. I try one thing and stop after two weeks...so I am working on finishing a program.

A few years ago I hired an online personal trainer and did body part splits and dieted down. I lost about 18lbs during that 3 months, but I couldn't find a way to keep it up. I have done weight watchers and everything in between. I am so fed up with dieting. I do not want to diet forever...I want to learn to maintain a healthy lean weight.

So, anyway, I am hoping this will be my last "diet"..and I can move on to Leigh's maintenance stuff. I also have a bodybugg and will be logging my cals burned and cals eaten throught that site. I will post my totals here each time I post. I will try to be consistent with my posting, because I do not have access to this site at work (only through my iphone...but I may not have much time to use it being a teacher)

I start tomorrow and here is my plan
Goal: 1600 cals
40% pro
35% carb
25% fat
100oz water
1 multi, 2 fish oil
Workout A-1 (will be done in apartment)
I will add some starting pics!! Here I go!

Hello all!! Thanks for the welcome.
So my first day has gone extremely well.

I think I will post diet/training the day after because I want to be more accurate. Anyhow, I am off to do some recovery while I watch Heroes! Have a great night.

Good Luck with OPT! Are you doing the original or the remix? I am on week 4 of OPT Remix and I have lost about 6lbs total. If you follow the guidelines it works. Leigh Peele is amazing.

Hello...had a great day.
I am doing the original OPT. I figure if I stick with it, I should see some great results.
I have been wearing my bodybugg and trying to increase my steps..it gives me motivation.
The thing is, two days out of the week, we teach health in our gym. The kids just sit an work on those days, so I have made a more concertive effort to walk around the gym and check their work and get more NEAT in!
On my PE days, it is easy to walk around more...

Anyway, yesterday looked like this:
Training= A1
Aerobic=45 min walk fast pace (HR about 160)

Bodybugg Calories Burned: 2833
Calories Consumed: 1617
Protein: 43%
Carb: 35%
Fat: 22%
Deficit = 1216

I need to up the fat just a bit, but I am working on it.

Today looks like this:

Bodybugg Calories Burned(so far) : 2408
CAlories Consumed : 1596
Protein: 40%
Carb: 35%
Fat: 25% (spot on!)
Deficit(so far) = 812

I had another great day. I did my aerobic workout this morning...and did a lot of activity at work. We had athletics tryouts and the kids are starting their soccer unit, so I am on my feet a lot.

Anyway today looked like this
Aerobic= 45 min (treadmill, stairstepper, bike)

Bodybugg Cals burned = 3045
Calories Consumed = 1617
Protein = 43%
Carb = 35%
Fat = 23%
Deficit = 1428

I asked Leigh about using my bodybugg and if I have cut my calories a bit too low. I should be eating about 1820 cals a day and I am about 200 less than that. I just never know how much activity I am going to do each day...So we'll see.

Once I learn how to post my before pics, I will. Also, I will figure how to subscribe to some of the other journals around here...

Training today: A2 and Recovery
TGIF!! Thank God I can relax a bit tomorrow and get some errands together.

Tomorrow I am going to Weigh in at Weight Watchers(I still want to try to make lifetime there even though I am not following their plan right now) and my doggie needs grooming.

I posted in the fatloss section about how I added up my activity from the FLTS to be BMR x 1.55 (1639 x pretty moderate activity level)...that gives me 2541 as my BMR...
However, my bodybugg has me burning an average of 3000 each day...I am also deliberately moving more trying to up my burn...
Anyway, I am still not quite sure which number to go by...and I don't want to drop way to low. However, I am not starving (if I eat on time)..so we will see how I weigh in.
Thursday Cals burned = 3196
Cals Consumed = 1631
Prot = 42%
Carb = 34%
Fat = 24%
Deficit = 1565

Today Cals burned = 2680
Cals Consumed = 1640
Protein =36%
Carbs = 39%
Fat = 25%
Deficit = 1032

why not stay where you are comfortable for a few weeks and see how your losses add up - if the math works better for one burn than the other then you will know how the numbers stack up against your actual rate of loss.

Okay, I have been away a long time.
This is week 6 of OPT Fat Loss and I have had great success!! I am stoked! Everyone has noticed I have slimmed down and I am half way to my personal goal. Hopefully I will get to it before the 12th week, but if I don't I will do maintenance for a few weeks and get back on.

Here are my stats after 6 weeks

Starting weight = 182.5 (home scale)/ 186 (weight watchers scale)
Current Weight = 174.2 (home scale)/ 173 (weight watchers scale)

Measurements = Bust 36.5 (start) 36 (current)
waist 31.5 (start) 30.5 (current)
hips 43.5 (start) 43 (current)
My BF % is ??? I use the omron, and it gives me weird numbers each time, so I am not really concerned about it.

My ultimate weight goal for now is 160. Opt is great...

I have had a few days where I wanted to stop, but I just kept imagining the goal. I also do not hit the macros each day, but I do hit the caloric limits (except for that day I had an extra bowl of popcorn and went over by 200 cals)

Sounds fantastic. Did you switch to the higher burn that the body bug was giving you or stay with the formula?
