Default I've Got The Power

I've decided to start a new training log for the new year...and be way better about keeping up with it.

I haven't taken official measurements/weight, but here's an idea:

I'm 5'3, 25 year, and 132lbs., not sure of my body fat but I'm gonna say about 28-30%.

I love to run. I've run 3 1/2 marathons and I'm seriously thinking of doing a full in November.

I'm married and am a mother of a 3 (almost 4) year old. I am going to school full time to get my degree in education. I have about 2 semesters left. I also work full time as an inclusion aide at the elementary school where I live.

Here are my goals for 2009:

1. Get down to my goal weight and maintain it (125-127)
2. Cook more and try different recipes.
3. Get my body fat down...not sure how much.
4. Maybe train and run a full marathon.
5. This might not have anything to do with fitness, but I want to be more organized and quit being such a pack rat!

I'm also thinking of joining the challenge...but I'm not sure yet. I need something to hold me accountalbe and to keep me from losing sight of my goals.

So...here goes!

Thanks ladies for the warm welcome! It's supposed to be a beautiful day here today...a little windy. I think I'm gonna let DS go outside and play on his playground and ride his new John Deer tractor.

My shoulders are EXTREMELY sore from yesterday's workout. I did legs and shoulders in supersets and pretty much exhausted my shoulders. I'm feeling it today...it's a good sore though. And my booty is sore as well....haven't felt that in a while!

So, here in a little bit, after I finish my coffee, I'm gonna go to the gym for a run. Not sure how far...maybe just 3 miles. I really need to get back into running. I kind of slacked off after running the 1/2 in November.

So, I'll do some running and maybe some elliptical too.

I'll post later when I get back from the gym!

Hi Kathy! Hopefully this time around I will be better about keeping up my new log.

Okay, today's workout:
*45 min run (4.27 miles, had to walk a couple of times for about a minute or so)
*15 min. on the ET, L5

My back and shoulders...and legs are still feeling this past week's weight workout!

DH is out golfing, me and DS might to go Walmart later and pick up his film. He got a Cars camera for Christmas and used up all the film in like an hour...I'm anxious to see what kind of pictures he took! LOL!

Good morning everyone! It's a DOR for me today. I thought about doing yoga...but I can't find my yoga dvd. Today is also my "cheat" day...although I think I've been cheating for the past few days...yikes!

I go back to work tomorrow...ah, having 2 weeks off was WONDERFUL! But, I am ready to get back into a routine.

Monday/Wednesday/and maybe Friday, I will be lifting 2x/day. I will be doing my own weight workout in the early morning, then after work, I'll be doing ChaLEAN extreme with some ladies at the gym.

Do ya'll think it's bad if I lift 2x/day? Each lifting workout will be about 30 min. long.

Is your name Celesta? That's pretty. I'm glad I went back and looked again as I was initially thinking Celeste. I'm sure you just love that....

I saw your question on the challenge thread but thought I'd pop over to your log and say hi and answer here. I think doing two weight training programs at the same time will mean you will get nowhere fast and you won't be able to do either one well. Especially from what I've heard of Chalene Extreme if you're going to do it right it'll be intense and involve heavy weights during some of the cycles. So my advice would be to pick one or the other. If doing Chalene as a group appeals to you the most do that first. You can always go back to your usual morning lifting routine when you're done with Chalene or if it doesn't work out. If the group thing doesn't matter pick whichever program appeals to the most and matches your goals.

Chalene's program sounds interesting and good. I've never used any of Beachbody's stuff although I do like exercise videos on occasion. My latest fave is Amy Bento although I have trouble with some of her cardio. I've done a lot of Jari Love's stuff and some Cathy Friedrich. I have some Tracey Staehle vid's too but I don't use them as much.

Welcome to JP and the challenge.

Yes, my name is Celesta! Thanks! I actually don't mind being called Celeste...but that's just not my name

I think you are right about me getting nowhere fast. Maybe I will do my cardio early in the morning...probably ET and TM and do my weights after work. If we don't do ChaLEAN on Friday...then I will do my own weight workout.

Hopefully I will get results.

Well I was up and at it at 5am this morning! Whoo!! It's VERY cold here and icy...and I stil managed to get a workout in.

I did 20 min. on the TM intervals then did 20 min. on the ET at L5...I did the Fat Burner program. I burned 460 calories.

After work, I will head to the gym and do ChaLEAN's workout. I will report that workout later on. I will also get DH to take my pictures and have them posted later on this evening.

Well, I need to finish getting dressed and get my lunch/snacks together for the day.

Ya'll have a good one!

Okay...for those of you who suggested that I NOT lift 2x/day, thanks! I'm glad I DID NOT lift this morning AND after work. Wow...ChaLEAN's workout was TOUGH!!!

Here's what I did:

Burn Circuit1 We did 9 exercises, 1 set of 10-12 reps with heavy weight for most of the exercises. All of the exercises were up 2 down 4.

*Sumo squat w/ hip lift: 20lbs each hand/12 reps

*Lunges w/ posterior fly: 10lbs each hand/12 reps

*Push up w/ leg lift: 10...all on my TOES!!

*Deadlift w/ poterior fly: 10lbs. each hand/12 reps

*Lunge w/ core rotation: 15lbs/12 reps

*Bench Press w/ band around leg and we raised and lowered legs (hard to explain) 20lbs each hand/12reps

*Squat w/ side bend: 20lbs each hand/12 reps

*Forward lean lunge w/ dble arm posterior fly: 8lbs each hand/12 reps

*Chest Fly w/ hip lift: 12lbs each hand/12 reps

*10 pushups on toes immediately after chest fly

I forgot my tennis shoes (I pack my gym bag at night and go right after work) and there was no time to go home...I didn't want to miss a workout just b/c I had no shoes...so I did my workout barefoot. Not good, I know...and it made the moves a little harder since most of them were compound type. So, I will take an extra pr. of shoes to leave in my locker

My food intake was good. I did go overboard at dinner with the cornbread...

Okay...I'm gonna get DH to take my pics so I can upload them....eek!

Oh and I burned 335 during my weight workout...I definetly sweated!!!

Hi Celesta, good to see you back! Getting off to a good start!

Hey, people call me Celesta also--especially people from other cultures/countries. Something about the name, I guess...

Well this morning I was up and at it again at 5am! As much as I wanted to hit snooze and sleep another hour...I didn't. I remembered why I'm doing this and that nobody is going to do it for me!!

So, today's workout:

35 min run. 3.15 miles...I was a little slow today. I didn't workout as long as I wanted to, b/c DH left for work a little early. He texted me about 5:30 am and said he was leaving and that DS was still sleeping...I thought "okay, I'll go 15 more min." But for some reason, I thought, "nah, I'll go"...lo and behold, when I walked in the door...DS came running! He was watching a movie in his room!!!

I felt so bad! I told him where we were...he seemed okay with it. I wish I could get a tv stand for my exercise room, so I can just run at home.

My food intake has been good so far...I'm making chicken and rice casserole for dinner...with brown rice and brocoli...yummy!!

don't forget...BIGGEST LOSER tonight!

Hi, Celesta! Good for you for getting up at 5am! I am struggling with my late night workouts (after kids are in bed) and having to get up early. I WISH I could get up at 5am. My problems would be solved!

Hi!! How late do you workout?? I could easily workout in the evening, but sometimes things come up and it's easy for me to put off workout out. I do workout after work on M/W because that's when I do my weight training with some ladies at the gym. If it wasn't for them...I'd probably slack off big time...and of course this challenge is helping as well.

Well despite me skipping my morning workout, I did do my afternoon weight workout. Here's what was done:

Burn Circuit 2 (we did one set of each exercise only...VERRRRRY slow!)

*Sumo squat w/ bicep curl: 15lbs each hand 10 reps
*Lunge w/ one-arm tricep ext.: 10lbs 12 reps
*Dead lift row: 15lbs each hand 10 reps (I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate deadlifts)
*Sumo squat w/ overhead tricep ext.: 15lbs. 10 reps
*Dead lift w/ double row: 12lbs each hand 12 reps
*Curtsy lunge w/ single arm row: 15lbs. 10 reps
*Bicep curls w/ abductor balance: 12lbs. each hand 12 reps
*Foward lean lunge w/ double row (reverse grip): 12lbs. each hand 12 reps
*Triple threat push ups (tricept push up, regular push up, spiderman push up all in a row 12x)

Wow, my arms feel like lead right now. I'm really liking how we focus on a couple of body parts each exercise but do lower body in every workout. I think I burned about 200 calories this workout.

My eating was good...I'm getting better.

Tomorrow will be a 45 min. run.

I've got a busy day tomorrow...so I'll post ASAP!

I usually don't get around to it until after 8 and that's HARD after getting up at 6am and living a full day. Maybe I will go to bed early tonight and try to get up earlier tomorrow. Sometimes I wake up around 4:40-4:45 and think, "I could get up and exercise", but then I tell myself that's crazy. But I agree with you it's easier to get it out of the way early in the day.

I decided to start the challenge off doing Leigh Peele's OPT program, but am now rethinking that already, mainly because it requires working out 6 days a week and twice on one of those days. However, I am just now getting back to work after vacation so I think that's contributing to my feelings of being overwhelmed already!

Wow, what a DAY it has been...just busy busy busy!!!

Anyhoo, here is today's workout:

I did crosstraining for about 45 min. Did the ET, bike, and TM. For some reason, I LOVE doing sprintervals....I just love them.

Tomorrow will probably be a long run.

Looks like I will have a lot on my plate this spring...this challenge, work (getting kids ready for TAKS test!), college, AND I've decided to coach my two nieces in little dribbler basketball. But I think I will enjoy all of this and it will make the school year go by faster...

So, off to my first coache's meeting....gosh, it's been about 8 years since I last coached...I'm excited and nervous. I'm VERY competitive!!!

Ya'll have a great nite and GO SOONERS!!

Wow! You do sound busy. Are you a teacher?

I am considering taking college classes. I am already registered and everything. Just hard to imagine how I will fit it all in!

I did Burn Circuit 2 today. My hamstrings, glutes and back are going to hate me. This was far more challenging than Burn Circuit 1 for me. I'm thinking it's because I was easing into things with Burn 1? Anyway, I really enjoyed it and am thinking I will stick with my original plan of doing Chalean Extreme!

I thought the same, returning to college in my 40s. However, I'm truly enjoying myself. And there are plenty of mature students (even though some of them are in their 20s).

and at 43 i'm back in classes staring monday and i am sooo excited! but i don't work (at a paying job) and my four kiddos are older (nearly 12 to nearly 20 - ugh!) and the oldest is actually out of the house and in college in florida (we live in maine).

I'm not a certified teacher. Right now I'm an inclusion aide. I'm working on my degree to become a teacher. It's taking me longer than usual...got pregnant/married over the years. But, I'll get it done!

Okay, I don't know if it was my computer or what, but I hadn't been able to post or long on in a couple of days.

I have a confession: I skipped yesterday's planned workout. I was just TOOOOO tired Friday morning. I did workout today...did burn circuit #3...did shoulders and legs. I don't have my log with me right now...okay, I'm just to lazy to get up and get it.

I'm REALLY liking the ChaLEAN program. I'm really getting used to the slow lifting...at first I didn't like it, but I like it...depending on what body part we are working...LOL!

Hi Celesta! Just stopping by to subscribe.

Are you getting a special ed certification? I teach in an inclusion program now, I was an inclusion aide and behavioral therapist before that. Love it!

HI! thanks for stopping by my log. I am getting a certification in special ed. My major is actually physical education. I really do like working with inclusion kids...although it's different now than when I was in school.

Talking 1/10

Okay, here is yesterday's workout:

Burn circuit #3

*Sumo squat w/ overhead press: 15lbs each hand 10 reps
*Lunge w/ calf raise: 20lbs each hand 12 reps
*Squat w/ lateral raise: 8lbs each hand (need to try 10 next time) 12 reps
*Lunge w/ frontal press: 15lbs each hand 12 reps
*Squat w/ calf raise: 20lbs each hand 12 reps
*Sumo squat w/ delt raises: 10lbs each hand 12 reps
*Squat w/ double overhead press: 15lbs each hand 10 reps
*Lunge w/ lateral raise: 8lbs each hand 12 reps
*Sumo squat w/ calf raise: 20lbs each hand 12 reps

My running hasn't really been up to par, so I signed up for a race on March 28th to keep me motivated. It's a 1/2 marathon, 10K, and 5K...I'm doing the 10K b/c it's in a town by where I live and I canNOT imagine running 13.1 miles through Midland Texas.....BORRRRRRING!!!!!!:co ol:

My aunt, my dad, and maybe my mom are going to run it also. It should be fun. It's 11 weeks away. I've already made my training plan on runnersworld.com so I'm ready to go! I'll be running 3x/week so that works out b/c I lift 3x/week.

Oh, today is a DOR for me. Gotta go...DH is making me breakfast
