Kara - great new avi! I can't quite read through everything here on the ship, but it looks like you're doing really well!

Thanks Bytsi! Have a great cruise! Beware the amazing food, lol. And I hear ya on the internet usage on board... paying per minute for dial-up is the worst!

All this protein talk just made me go and make a shake! I, too, have a problem getting as much protein as I like in. I hate seafood, so that option for me is out.

I posted this in someone's log a while ago, but here's the protein shake I like to drink:

1 scoop EAS Vanilla Whey (1g of carbs)
1 cup of skim milk
1/2 pack of Alba mixes (chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry)
crushed ice
Mix it up, yum!

Comes out to 246 calories, 34g protein, 22g carbs, and 3g fat. I can't drink them made with water, but you could try that if you're looking to reduce your carbs.

BTW, Jane--They discontinued making the Nutrilite brownie protein bar! I just asked my partner to get me some and she said they are no longer. I wasn't happy to hear that.

Thanks steel! What are alba mixes? I always make my shakes with milk too since I think they're awful with water.

My grocery store has two diet areas. I want to say these are over in the section that you'd find sweets for diabetics. They run around $6 and are even good on their own.

There are some things when it comes to working out that I will never understand... one of those is why every time I don't feel like going to the gym, I have a great workout! And when I DO feel like going to the gym and am geared up and ready to go, I have just a so-so workout! So weird.... So needless to say, this was just a so-so workout.

Workout 2B of Bri's program

DB scaption shrug (10/8/8/6)
all sets with 5lb DBs

Sumo DL (10/8/8/6)
75
87
95
105 (form not so fantastic on this last set)

Curtsy lunges (10/8/8/6)
55
55
65
65

V-grip seated row (10/8/8/6)
50
60
60
70 (didn't quite get full ROM on these last ones)

1-arm pulldowns (pull-up style)
10x20
5x30
(chin-up style)
8x30
6x30

Skipped the standing woodchops because people were using the cable machines and I didn't want to wait.

Guess the numbers don't reflect how the workout FELT, but it didn't feel so great. I'm frustrated with the curtsy lunges because I feel them working great with my right leg, but not my left leg and I can't figure out why. It's almost like my form is off on the left side but I can't figure out what's wrong with it. And I wasn't getting my butt down far enough on the last set of DLs.. they resembled wide stance RDLs I think... not great.

LOL, no kidding! This happens to me, too. But your workout looks great, even if it didn't feel like it .

Pics look great! Nice loss this month.

Cute new avi! Nice workout, too. I have an imbalance problem with my right leg I only noticed during single leg rdl's. I had some PT about a year and a half ago and the girl told me my pelvis was tilted - I am guessing it has something to do with it. Its still frustrating even though it might look right, it just doesn't feel right.

Thats a lot of protein - nice

Thanks girls! I'm hoping Bri can help me start to fix some of these imbalances. I don't want to make them worse. I'm still just kind of overwhelmed with info, not sure what the best course of action is to fix my issues, lol.

Trying to get my protein high again today... workin on it!

Nice workout, even though it didn't feel great. I know what you mean, some kind of reverse body psychology or something. Anyway, keep it up, and nice on the protein!

Thanks Diane! Yeah, my mom said it was fun when she did it.

No activity to report for yesterday, which was silly, I should have done SOMEthing, but I had too many tv shows to watch, lol. Gym day today so I will get there in a few minutes. I will post my food from yesterday later on as well.

Workout 2C

DB shoulder rotation (10/8/8/6)
5
5
7.5
7.5

1-leg RDL (10/8/8/6)
45
55
60
65

Pushups (10/8/8/6)
BW for all

Squats: (10/8/8/6)
65
75
75
75
*felt much better with these today!

1-arm shoulder press (10/8/6/5)
17.5 for all

stability ball crunch:
3x10x10lb DB held longarm

Question... when doing squats, where do you look? I used to watch myself in the mirror and recently I've been keeping my head more in line with my spine and looking out in front of me but downwards a bit. The "trainer" I run in to all the time came up to me when I was done and told me to look up in front of me more because it takes pressure off the lower back. True? Crap? What do you all do?

Food update:
Yesterday:
Calories 1,591
Fat 47.4g, 27%
Carbohydrate 154.4g, 39%
Protein 135.9g, 34%

Today:
Calories 1,949
Fat 65.2g, 30%
Carbohydrate 167.1g, 34%
Protein 168.6g, 36%
*plus 2 of the most amazing graham crackers I've ever had! I have no idea of the nutritional info, but they were 100% natural, ingredients were flour, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, and other natural flavors... all of which I could read and pronounce! Oh man they were awesome... I need to go buy those!

Protein has been great this week!

OK, so wow.... I knew poptarts were bad for you, but do yourealize just how TERRIBLE they are?! I left my afternoon snack at home like the goofball I am so I had to get something from the vending machine. Poptarts were best-could-do. I only ate one of the two, but for a package of poptarts it's 400 cals! and 73g of carbs! (almost all of which are sugar!) Oh my goodness. So that will throw off my cals/macros for the day, but oh man, I hadn't realized just how bad they were!

I love Pop Tarts! It's so unfair that it's so bad for you. Honestly, they are so damn good. I love the frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon or the Frosted Strawberry...or pretty much all of them.

Pop tarts. Ew.

When I was pregnant with #3, I bit into one once while needing a quickie snack and found an embedded piece of twine. Not a hair. Not a thin piece of string. But freaking twine. I barfed for I don't know how long. I've never since been so hungry that I had to resort to pop tarts. *shudder*

I had the frosted strawberry today... but I agree, the brown sugar ones are yummy... the smores ones aren't too bad either.

But enough of poptarts... back to real food... so far for next week's lunches and dinners I have Jane's taco skillet which I am DYING to try! As well as a low-carb lasagna that uses zucchini instead of noodles, so we shall see how it goes. I need one more recipe.... but I'm drawing a blank... help?

Oh and to edit last night's food.. I forgot I had a half a small bag of trail mix, so once I added that in, the cals went to 2189 and my macros hit 33%/33%/33% (cool!)

Today's will also be higher than I'd like (cuz of that damn poptart!). I'm already a little high in cals, but I know I'm going to be starving in another hour or so... just had some tea so I'm hoping I won't need a snack, but even if I do, and it ends up being cereal, my macros will be fine, the cals will just be too high. I will have to go dome something active-ish for a bit. Maybe some jumping jacks and lunges, BW squats and see if my chin-up decides to play hide-and-seek today

As long as the twine was encased in delicious brown sugar cinnamon frosting...I would probably eat it.

I have trouble getting enough protein too. Greek yogurt mixed with protein powder and fruit is a lifesaver.
