I've been meaning to stop by but have been too busy to read anyones logs.
I hear you...I'm having trouble keeping up on my own log lately!
My oldest son is sick today--no workout this morning. I did okay with food over the weekend, tho (why are weekends always harder?!) and managed to squeeze in another trip to the gym. Spent the day Saturday on fun stuff, though--finding new curtains for the bedroom! We were using the ones I sewed for the living room of our old house about fifteen years ago. Since that time, someone had put a rat cage too near one of them, so one of the curtains was chewed to shreds in one corner...need I mention that these are MUCH more romantic and peace-inducing?
Now I'm just feeling paranoid because my son has a stomach bug and I'm starting to feel nauseous. Hopefully, it's just a touch of hypochondria!!
I know what you mean about weekends. For me, I think it has to do with I never know where I might be. During the week, I know exactly where I'll be at what time and can plan my meals out accordingly. On weekend, I might be out and about and am more likely to skip a meal/snack or grab something (junk) real quick.
Since I can't get out of the house today (well, I could, technically, since my son is 13, but he's too pathetic to leave alone...) I tried a mini-circuit using my dbs, stairs, and Swiss ball:
Bicep curls: 3 x 12 x 11#
Tricep kick-backs: 3 x 12 x 11#
Lunges: 3 x 12 x 8#
Swiss ball crunches: 3 x 15
...and then I realized that I really *was* sick, so I stopped.
(and yes, I started this Monday and finished today...and today I'm feeling much better!)
Uh oh! You got sick too! Sorry--I do think Robin and I shared germs via facebook. But hey, at least you did something! I hung out on the sofa or in bed all day. Glad you're feeling better today--me too. I'm trying to convince my body that I can go to the gym. Mind says yes, body is shaky. We'll see...
Not you too! Glad that you're at least feeling better today. There's some sort of crud floating around lately. And apparently it travels.
Thanks! You know, I work at home--shouldn't that help insulate me from traveling bugs? I'm pretty much back to normal (as normal as that gets), so I'm going to plan on heading to the gym tomorrow. Maybe not at 6:00 am, since the weather looks horrific right now. Sixty degrees this morning, six inches of snow tonight. Gotta love Colorado!
And I thought we were bad - 60 degrees today - rain/snow mix on Saturday. You got some crazy weather!
Okay, it didn't end up being 6 inches of snow--only two--but I still bailed on the early am workout. I'm going to get some writing done and then head to the gym. (After I try catching up on logs a bit!)
On a personal note, I just finished rewriting a nonfiction picture book that I've been bashing my head against for MONTHS now...couldn't quite make it work. If the company likes this one, I have a contract to write a dozen, which would definitely help the finances around here. I just need to get the first one in a format that they like so I can get started on the others....
It's very exciting to have the thing done! Cross your fingers that they like it.

Wasn't it beautiful this morning! I caught a good part of the sunrise this morning while walking the dog. I love the way the snow reflects some of the pink from the sky.

That sounds so exciting! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

YES!!! It was so gorgeous. The flakes are huge, the kind that pile up into lots of floaty white that sparkles like crazy when the sun hits it.

Thanks! I decided I should just go work out, because I'm not actually getting anything done here. I'm obsessively checking e-mail to see if they've replied yet, which, of course, they haven't since the book is about 70 pages with all the sidebars, illustration notes, and comic-book-style dialog that's to appear in the illustrations. Hopefully after I get some exercise, I'll chill out a bit so I can get some work done!
This one is about the respiratory system and cardiovascular system. It's sort of like the Magic Schoolbus books, in that there's a primary story with LOTS of sidebars, facts, and detailed illustrations. They'll be really cool if we can pull it off. (And if I can write a little faster than one every six months....)
Here's your amusing image for the day: Cheryl, at the gym, doing deadlifts in--get this--knee-high silver Doc Martens .
I forgot my sneakers. If I went home to get them, I knew I'd never get back. Did I really need sneakers? I wasn't going to run or anything. I just needed something that would protect my feet, right?
I got a lot of weird looks. Working out must be doing something for my confidence, because I held my head high and did the workout without even blushing.
Anyhoo, here's the specifics:
DL: 3 x 8 x 75#
DB Shoulder presses: 1 x 8 x 15ea, 2 x 8 x 17.5ea Wide-grip lat pulldown: 1 x 8 x 75#, 3 x 8 x 80#
Lunge: 1 x 8 x 12.5ea, 2 x 8 x 15ea Swiss Ball Crunch: 3 x 15 (bw)
It all felt really good...and now I'm STARVING! I'm eating lunch slowly so I don't overeat.
I won't be around this coming weekend...we're heading up into the mountains for a Valentine's/birthday getaway. We're going to a B&B that is completely off-grid: solar power, no cell phone coverage, and you have to go the last 5 miles to the house by snowmobile. I'm planning on lots of snowshoeing! Plus the room has a jacuzzi tub...I'd invite you, Celeste, but I think the pain of traveling here would outdo any benefit you might gain from the jacuzzi.
Besides, it might make DH cranky. He likes you and all, but still...
Needless to say, I won't have internet access until we get back!
