Got back from working out late again, tho. My DH is being very understanding, but I think I need to allow 15-20 min. longer for these 3 set workouts. I don't feel like I'm working out longer, but I must be, because I can't get home on time anymore!
You are really making great progress!!! Nice work!!

Looky, looky, at all the red!!!! Great workout!

Okay, I've been trying to figure out if this is too much to share here, but here goes...several years ago I called a friend at home and her son answered (10? maybe at the time?). When I asked if she was home, he answered, "yes, but she's upstairs servicing my dad." I did NOT inquire any further!!!!

OMG, Celeste! Although if it were me I probably would have had to ask for clarification, like I must have heard wrong. I would have at least had to bring it up to the friend later. I guess it depends on your relationship with the family, but OMG! That is pretty disturbing.

You're getting stronger by the day! And woo for your husband for noticing your shape is changing. That's quite an accomplishment! lol

I'm dying here with the dog stories! My friend just told me a funny one today. She lives in my 'hood and all our streets are off a 4-lane road, which can get pretty busy during rush hour times. Anyway, she was walking her dogs to go do their business back in the greenbelt. She was at one of the 4-way stops with cars waiting for her to cross, when one of the dogs stopped right in the middle of the road to take a dump! LOL

My friend even did her neighborly duty and cleaned up her mess!

Random venting: life has been a little stressful around here lately--nothing terrible, just lots of meetings, discussions of what to do to help our older son succeed in school, more meetings (did I mention that I'm an extreme introvert and HATE meetings?!)--and every time I get stressed/overwhelmed/exhausted , I want to eat. Or drink. I'm not picky. I haven't blown my healthy living goals, exactly, but I don't feel like I'm making forward progress, either. Argh.

I keep telling myself that it's a good thing I'm working out, or it'd be a lot worse!!!

Ugh. Sorry about your stressful life...hey I hate meetings and I'm NOT an introvert! Good for you for not giving up--you're doing what you can, AND still working out!

Hey - maybe you can borrow Celeste's reflex bag and beat the crap out of it when you are feeling stressed! I do that with mine and it really helps!

Take it one day at a time and do the best that you can! Stress really sucks!

Got up on a Friday! Hurray!

A: Squat 2 x 10 x 80#, 1 x 10 x 85#

B1: Push-ups 8(2), 6(4), 4(6) --first numbers are full push-ups, second bent knee
B2: Seated Row 3 x 10 x 70#

C1: Step-up 3 x 10 x 2@12.5
C2: Prone jackknife 3 x 10 + 2 after the last set. (My goal was 12 here, but I couldn't get that many today)

Felt pretty good...I'm just struggling on the push-ups and jackknifes. Guess they'll come with time.

Great job in here!

The Pushups and Jackknives will come. I remember the jackknives especially being hard to figure out when I first started. I fell over more than once! What's great is that a few months ago, my sister was going to a trainer as part of the the City of Loveland employees get fit challenge (she works at the museum out there). She had to do jackknives too. Her description of them was perfect: get in a pushup position w/feet on a ball, pull your knees into your chest, and fall over. Repeat.

LOL! Pretty good jackknife description!

Your workouts are looking good! Cool on the squats--aren't they fun? I assume you're using a barbell? I never did till recently.

Pushups and jackknives are both bodyweight / core stability exercises that will improve with practice - good job!!!

Love the jackknife description!! I can do them without falling over, but by the last ones I feel like throwing up. I kind of roll of that stability ball....

No workout here today. It's DH's birthday, so I stayed home and snuggled him .

On a different note, I woke up with this weird blister on the ring finger knuckle of my right hand. At 6:00 am, my middle finger and ring finger knuckles (the bottom ones) were red and sore, as if I'd scraped the skin or something. By 6:30, I had two little blisters on the one knuckle, and now I have a monstrous blister. The skin around it's nice and red...can't for the life of me figure out what happened. Weird, huh?

Happy Birthday Dwight!!! Did he see his shadow?

That blister is weird. I hope it disappears as quickly as it came...

BTW, nice update! I could have sworn I had posted about that already. Anyway, there are definite visible changes which is really cool considering you're not on a strict deficit! (cool anyway, really...) So good job for month 1!

What in the world were you doing in your sleep to get that blister? How's it doing now?

Thank you!! I think DH is have a VERY good birthday. It started off with a bummer--we were going to go skiing Saturday, only then everyone was sick so we didn't go. But as a result, he's had this sort of extended celebration, from Sunday through last night, when we went to the dinner theater.

Besides which, he got what he really wanted for his bday. Have you ever heard of the book _Just Do It_? (Boulder authors. What can I say?)

It feels great to do have the emotional energy to give lots this year. Does that make sense? I didn't used to have that. Gotta be the exercise!!

Ya gotta wonder, don't you? I woke up a couple of times thinking I'd been sleeping on my hand funny, that the fingers needed to crack or something. Weird! It's doing better now. Looks disgusting, tho!!

Updates on the workouts...I haven't actually quit, just too busy to update! I went to the gym Tuesday...and left my sheet at home, so I had to do my workout from memory. I think I got it pretty close, though!

**Hmm. Now that I look at these, it seems that I did the wrong workout. I had the sheet I needed with me . Oh, well. I think I needed the extra in this set, anyways!

A: Squat 3 x 10 x 85#

B1: Push-up 3 x 12 (theoretically)--6 (6), 5 (7), 4 (6) (ack!)-- full (bent knee)
B2: Seated Row 3 x 10 x 70#

C1: Step-up 3 x 10 x 2(12.5#)
C2: Prone Jackknife 3 x 10

Today when the alarm went off, my body didn't move. I'm going to work out after dropping off my younger son at school!

Ha ha! I HAVE heard of that book! Boy is Dwight ever a lucky guy! I know what you mean about the emotional energy...it's neat how activity improves every area of our lives, isn't it?

Good workout...sorry they got confused, but you're right, an extra one isn't going to kill you anyway. Or you could just do two of the others in a row.

I like how you say, "my body didn't move." What can ya do?! Hope you get in a good workout!

I just wanted to pop in here and tell you that your penny idea is working pretty well. The kids are not nearly as into telling each other and us every little thing that is wrong with the other and are thinking of nice things to say to each other. Not magic by any means, but my stress level in the afternoons is a lot lower now. Thank you!

Yay! Anything that decreases the mom's stress level is a VERY good thing.

On a workout note:

Since I didn't go to the gym first thing this morning, I decided to foam roll at home, first. (One of my dogs is NOT good at being left alone....) The results:
  1. I got a much longer foam rolling session than I usually do at the gym, which was very nice...
  2. ...but I'm SO nice and relaxed now, I feel like soaking in a hot tub rather than heading in to work out
  3. ...and my dogs decided that the tennis ball I was using (a nice pink one, so no one would steal it ) should now belong to them. The fact that I was trying to use it apparently made it that much more interesting as a toy. Apparently it smells like me, and I was playing doggy keep-away. What more could they want?
Of course, I guess it's better than the other nice-smelling things of mine they usually find to chew upon: sweaty gym clothes, stinky socks, and the like. If someone's coming over to the house, they like to drag out undergarments, too . Ah, gotta love canines....

But now I'm REALLY off to the gym. No more delays!!
