Hi, everyone! New year, new log! I'll be participating in the ladies' 2009 challenge and will post more later. I can't seem to pull up my old log to refer to, but it was The Bellydancer Brings it! I am no longer belly dancing thanks to hip bursitis, IT band issues, and SI joint issues, but I do need to get fit and strong again and am looking forward to it!
I got in my best shape ever back in 2007 using Turbo Jam, so this time around I will be doing Chalene Johnson's new workout program from Beachbody, ChaLEAN Extreme.
So, some lovely pictures to mark my progress up to this point.
This is me 5 months pregnant with my son, who is now 3.5. Not much of that was the pregnant belly. That was a whole lot of fat! I started this pregnancy at 5'5" and 195 lbs.
My son was born in August. I went into the delivery room at 235! When the weight quit coming off on its own, I found myself weighing in at 205 to 210.
This is me the following NYE 2005, probably around 185-190.
Enter Turbo Jam. By Halloween of 2006, I looked like this - probably around 155, but looking better at this weight than I had before thanks to cardio plus weights. In the past, I had always lost weight with diet only. Stupid me!
Then finally a few pics of me at my "best". I only wish I had taken some better pics, because this is all I got. I got down to a size 8, 136lbs, 19% body fat by caliper. Please ignore the tequila face!
My goal was to look good in a bikini for our trip to the beach in July. I didn't look perfect, but not bad for a near 40 mom of three? And I had the best legs in all my life. I have always had huge thighs!
Next time I will have to ditch the shorts! Because I was in pretty decent shape...
Fun log name and nice avatar--what a cool family pic! And nice tequila face, lol! I'll say you've made some pretty amazing progress. Good luck in the challenge!
hi there, welcome aboard I hope you'll continue to post lots of pics, so nice to see what everyone looks like outside of a bikini - I think the only time I wear mine is for these challenges!
The tequila party looked like fun, are those KISS masks in the background?

When I joined these forums for the last challenge, I cut the head off my bikini pics and resolved to never show my face on these boards because I didn't want anyone to "find out" how fat I am. I am trying to have a different attitude about this in 2009. I am what I am. There is room for improvement, but I prefer to own up to this body rather than hide behind it even if it's not perfect.
That is a KISS poster in the background! This was at one of my husband's shows. He is a musician in a Motley Crue tribute band. He's the guy in the black wig with the top hat.
Wow! You have made some amazing progress, both mental and physical! Yes, you may have to retravel ground lost, but you know what works for you and you know what you can achieve. good luck in the next challenge!
Jedi, have you got your ChaLEAN workouts yet? Everything I've ever ordered from Beachbody has taken forever to get to me.
You've made great progess already and I just wanted to say welcome to the challenge!
Thanks! Yes, I received them within a week, but I also had a coupon code that gave me free express shipping, so that may be why. I have heard about issues with Beachbody shipping, but have never experienced it myself.
Hey my mom ordered the ChaLEAN workout and she's doing it as well. How do you like it??
Thanks for stopping by! So far, I have only done the first weight workout. I am not sure what I think just yet. Last year when I lifted I did NROL or NROLW off and on. This is a bit different. The first workout of the week focused on glutes, hamstrings and rear delts, but you are working rear delts at the same time you're doing lunges. No way my delts can lift what I typically use for a lunge, so in that aspect it's different and I'm not sure what to think. I also didn't push myself very hard because I am playing with how my hip will deal with these workouts. I'm just getting over hip bursitis. So far, so good! so I will likely push harder in the next few weeks.

Thanks for stopping by! I have been lurking your log for some time. I remember during the last challenge thinking you were where I was when I was happy about my weight and bf%. Very similar numbers. And now look at you! If I had just kept on keepin' on, I could have been in as great shape as you are. Very inspiring.
I'm starting Chalean Extreme on 1/12 after I finish moving. I wish you much success with the challenge.
Hey! Thanks for stopping by. Will you be doing Chalean Extreme for the challenge then? That will be fun. I am feeling like the odd girl out as I'm not lifting at the gym or doing a program like OPT or NROLW - at least not yet. I plan to get through at least one round of Chalean before I do something different.
Just checking in... I am not 100% what my diet will be for the challenge yet. I am definitely sticking with Chalean Extreme for my workouts. Working on getting my pics and stats together starting with a trip to the Bod Pod today. I am waiting on my sister who had her first Oly class today. They should be out already! I am anxious to go see how much my bf% has changed from last year at this time. I'm not expecting an improvement.
Hey, what a sweet thing to say...what I have learned through all this is that it IS possible, you just need to find what works for you. So you're definitely on a great track, doing a type of workout that you have enjoyed in the past, so I wish you the best of luck!
I've decided to give OPT a shot. I am not loving the lifts with Chalean Extreme. They're just "off" for me. So, today was my first day of OPT. I'll be doing the OPT lifts. The steady state cardio at 70% 3x a week will be a challenge! So, the current plan is 45 minutes of cardio 2x.
Target: 1350 35c/40p/25f
Actual: 1369 35c/39p/26f
Workout: 45 min cardio, 143 avg HR, 160 max HR, 366 cals burned
My husband came up with this recipe because he didn't like mixes. People love our margies.
1 lime
1/2 lemon
a bunch of tequila (I eyeball it in a glass of crushed ice, and, um, they can be strong)
splash of cointreau
3-4 packs of splenda (I use three cuz I like my margies on the tart side)
Enjoy!
That sounds yum. Having grown up in Florida, I love lime.
