Okay, now that I've popped, I'm so stinkin' excited to get back on track! Be prepared to get your butts kicked, gang!
Pink, I did SS last year and loved it for its simplicity and getting to really concentrate on and improve my form. It also didn't take a huge amount of time like some programs -- easily under an hour even with warm ups. I have NROL but have yet to actually do it.
Diane, I peeked at the pics over at your log.....she's adorable. And from the looks of it, you needed the break from all of that testosterone. How many boys do you have? : )
And congrats on the home birth. I had my first in a hospital, second, birthcenter with midwife, third, at home with an Israeli and an Iranian as midwifes--it was like being in the village.
I envy the new mommy love....at the moment. Then I remember how much work those little critters are !
Looking forward to having butt kicked.
Elisabeth
OK people, I finally started a log, but in the course of it, I started wondering...what can you all deadlift? I looked thru people's logs for a while, but then decided this would be more direct. : )
I was amazed to discover that I can do 5 reps of 150, which is bodyweight. I think I've been underestimating my weights.
Ha. I'm planning on doing deadlifts either tonight or tomorrow--I was going to answer your question then because I'm hoping to go heavier this time around...
I was going to look into it myself on Sunday when I go back to lifting. I cleaned up my desk, and my logs weren't handy. The last logged deadlifts were 4x5-135lbs, and I don't think they were a struggle. In fact, I think that I had backed off slightly because of a sore elbow. Yep, went back and found a slightly earlier workout where I did 4x5-165lbs. I'm not sure what kind of workout I'm planning for Sunday, but I might just play around and figure out some 1RM for a couple of things.
Yeah, I know that mine aren't all that impressive once you factor in weight. I will see what I can do Sunday, but my other limitation is how many weight plates I have. I'm still using a combination of metal and plastic (sand filled) weights. So, we'll see how it goes.
LOL Jane, not unless I go and buy more plates. I'll be lucky if I can get 225lbs on the bar with the combination of what I've got. What will be interesting is how that ability will be affected as the weight goes down. Keeping it even would be nice, as it would change the ratio as I go.
Today is my birthday and I took the day off and hit the gym, LOL. Tonight we are going to a nice steakhouse for dinner. I'm excited, it should be good food!

It means I'm going on vacation to visit my daughters, and my bf won't be home next week so I have to find someone to take my pics ahead of time or figure out a good place to set up my camera so I can do it myself. I am afraid I'm going to forget to get this done in the 'getting ready to go on vacation' frenzy and inadvertently drop myself from the challenge. I am probably going to have nightmare's about this.
Krispy, whatever is going on, don't worry about it. I understand at times the desire to pull away, but do it on your own terms, not on someone else's.
So, I played around with deadlifts today. I was doing a 5,3,2,1 combination today so I did:
5 x 115
3 x 165
2 x 185
1 x 205
I could probably have gone a little harder, but that was only the second set of exercises, so I didn't want to go much higher. I've got two more days of that rotation, so I'll see if I can get it higher. We'll see.
