Open Challenge Goals
Goal 1: Weight Loss of 43lbs (218 to 175) - I have broken my sticking point of 195 and am currently at 189. I won't achieve 175 by the end of the year but I have still made great progress!!
Goal 2: Losing 2 dress sizes (18 to 14) - Done! I am going to try to get into a 12 now.
Goal 3: Compliance - 50% this month. I don't have time for this stuff. Honestly, I probably did more than I think but it wasn't 'formal'. Goal 4: Perform 10 pushups. (0 to 10) - Still at 6 but since I hurt my shoulder I don't hink I will get much further than that but I still have another month to try.

AM, homeschooling mom to Wild & Wacky, see my fitness journey here, my training log here and my everything else blog here.
Consistent practice equals consistent progress.
Decided to post before T-day as I am going out of town, and Monday might be too hectic to post..
So over all I am done 24 pounds and 18.5 inches during the challenge. My goal was 30, but I am still pretty darn happy with 24 pounds. I believe I started the challenge at a size 12 and now I wear a 6.
so here's my stats from beginning to end and pics:
As I explained in my log, I don't have measurements this month (everyone at work quit or is on maternity leave, and DH's attempt was way too random). Next challenge, I will do my own measurements, but for this one, it's out of my hands, so I am only submtting weight and pics.
Started challenge 146, ended 139.
Stomach is bloated in these final pics, and I would love to just use last month's pics instead, but here they are (start on left, today on right):
1 - 95% compliant to chosen calorie level, 30% min protein level
Current - 93% - two really brutal days this month
2 - 2 days cardio per week, 3 days lifting
Completely off track this month with exercise. Some of it was due to illness, some school work, some laziness.
3 - Finish up Stages 5 & 7 from NROL4W
Continuing Power Training's Strength Training.
4 - Be lower than 260 by Dec 1st.
Done!
5 - Take another maintenance/rest week.
Completed last month. Next one in December (likely during exam weeks, that way I can hit the exercising hard the four weeks that I'm off between terms)
Wrap-up: November was a tough month. Where I would have said that I wasn't a stress eater, perhaps I am. Although I do think that some of it came from being a little burnt out on the planning / tracking. So even with the less than stellar month I'm going to do a maintenance week during exams. There will be no planning (but probably tracking). The difference is that I'm going to get back into the lifting / cardio since I have four clear weeks after that before classes start again.
Like Bytsi, I don't have all my normal detailed stats to post (just ran out of time to get them all gathered) but I wanted to go ahead and get posted.
Plans:
90% compliant with Precision Nutrition - Had some off days (some of them VERY OFF !) but I was much better at managing my food amounts and cheat days during the challenge. WSFL and Leigh's video made me a believer in measuring and tracking ALL foods.
Complete weeks 13-16 of Afterburn (I have been using Afterburn since May, currently in weeks 9-12, and will start week 13 on 8/10) - DONE
Then NROL Fat Loss Programs - Did WSFL instead
All HIIT will be running on my treadmill (at least 3 days per week) - For the most part, good here. During WSFL ran 6 days a week.
Goals:
Get below 20% body fat (I am considering the AccuMeasure results the real benchmark). My real level of satisfaction will come when I whittle away the saddlebags and the fat on my lower abs. - Got down to 19.2% (last reading)
Be able to complete 5 chin-ups in a set (I can do 2 now) - I can now do this.....yea!!!
Be able to squat and deadlift my body weight - Almost got here on my deadlift
Improve mobility and flexibility (using Cressey and Robertson's "Magnificent Mobility") - I am not where I need to be but I have definitely improved

Overall, I am pleased with my progress during the Challenge and I DEFINITELY look forward to the next Challenge in January. I plan to continue Power Training Strength workouts up until my December vacation, will go on another round of WSFL in January, and then will pick back up with a strength based program after that.
My normal data really just includes the weights and the pics...
Aug 123.5 (got down to 118 in Sep)
Bulking away to
Dec 128.6 this morning. Ah... The good life of lifting like a mad-woman and eating like a piggy... LOL! Okay it isn't all roses and easy but it is going as well as I can make it.
Hit my goals per the original post and am tracking steadily along. I forgot to turn down the contrast on this month's pics so I look much more washed out. Still the thing I am quite excited about is very visiable. See on the back shot how there is starting to be a curve from my shoulders to my waist? Either my shoulders are growing or my waist is shrinking or both! I am starting to actually demonstrated a bit of nice bbing type upper.... Perhaps there is a chance for me yet. LOL!
(snip)
This is for all the more mature ladies (40 plus) who think that it is impossible to have that amazing body they have always dreamed of. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE ladies and I am going to prove it.
Today I turned 45 and this IS the time of my life.
5'5"
123.5lb
14.7% bf
In the next 6 months I shall hit a 10-13% bf goal with the help of a bbing trainer and then begin another slow and hard-core bulk. Here we go again!!!

The BIGGER I get the smaller you look
Almost all of these results were from 9-2 to 10-14. Why? Somewhere about mid-October I opted for Halloween candy instead of real food and then quit exercising. Somehow over the last six weeks I managed to at least maintain my weight.
This is rather depressing. I went completely backwards. Some of this has to do with T-Day and being smack in the middle of my period, but the trend is not good and I want to give up. But I can't because I have a dress that needs to fit in two weeks. So,I still can't wear a bikini--it is fortunate that I rarely have the opportunity to do so anyway.
1. Diet: 90% compliance or better, all foods logged.
*300-500 calorie deficit as per NROL4W, min 30% protein, max 40% carbs.
Before: Nowhere near 90%, and before the challenge, if I went off-plan, I stopped logging altogether.
August:
90%
Sept:
90%
(Included one week of vacation, with no computer, food untracked)
Oct:
>90%
(That # is for wk 1, then my hard drive crashed and I couldn't use my program)
Then ?
food was healthy, portions mediocre
Nov:
90.30%
(Whew! Just made it!)
2. Workouts: Lifting 2-3x/week, cardio 2x/week, min of 20 minutes
Before: lifting 2-3x/week and cardio 1x/week. In the past, if my schedule or routine changes or we travel,
etc, I get out of the habit and end up quitting the gym for a few months.
August:
2.7 lift
3 cardio
Included one rest week (pre-planned)
Sept:
3 Lift
2.5 cardio
Rest week for lifting, still did cardio
Oct:
2.3 lift
3 cardio
Week 3 did lots and lots of major farm work but no "lifting in the gym"
Nov:
3 Lift
3 cardio
3. Rehab/Mobility: Do all recommended stretches and exercises 5x/week as long as recommended.
Before: I forget after about a week or two.
August:
5.75
Sept:
5
(Not counting vacation week)
Oct:
Changed plan here to extra mobility and stretching before and after workouts. This is keeping me pain-free.
Nov:
Same as above
4. Education: Read two diet or fitness related books recommended in this forum.
Before: Have only ever read South Beach Diet and NROL4W
Have read Eat Clean Diet Cookbook, Maximum Strength, New Rules of Lifting, and Power Training.
5. Sport: Find and become active in another sport or activity besides what I do in the gym.
Running--late summer and early fall, began running outside more often and actually enjoyed it!
Tried to enter a 5K, but the two near us were during kids' last soccer games subsequent weekends.
Martial Arts--Began a martial arts class but every class for about 4 weeks conflicted with other commitments,
so I'm going to put it on hold until I can have a little more independence (LOVED it though)
Riding--my daughter bought a horse, and so did the "family"--have jumped in with both feet into the horse world!
Spending more time cleaning out the barn and feeding than anything else, but we have been working
with the horses and/or riding several times per week.
Skiing/Boarding--now that my youngest (4yo) can ski on his own, I've already skied/boarded more in the one day that
we've been open than in the entire month of December last year! I'm hoping to progress past basic intermediate
on the snowboard and hone my skiing and instructing skills.
6. Chinups: Ten
Done! Went from 1 3/4 to 10 by the November check-in. Today I even did 10 AFTER several other exercises in the gym!
August 1 pics:
Dec 1 Pics:
I didn't post in my log, but I feel very good about this challenge and the results. I have NEVER been this fit, even in high school when I was slightly lower weight but no muscle or endurance. I feel great about my health, fitness, and even my looks although there is still lots of room for improvement. But I learned a lot about nutrition, lifting and exercise in general, achieved my goals that I had set for myself, and really feel like a new person! I am no longer a sedentary lazy sloth of a momma who is too tired to play with her kids, I'm not afraid to try new and crazy things--an adventurous side of me that I really like has emerged! Thanks everyone for being so supportive and encouraging--I have a feeling that this is just the beginning!!!!
Weight: 5'8" 137 lbs to 134 (-3 lbs)

Not a huge change for me in stats or pics but I feel like mentally, I have made huge gains. Thanks to all for the challenge and the support from all the members here at JP!!!!
I'm a little bummed you can't see the leg changes, that I feel, in the pics, but there's still positive change, so I'm happy. The measurements are a little wonky due to some major water weight this month, so I'm going to try to take them again later, but this is what they are for the challenge.

Here are mine. My measurements didn't change much if any from last month but I was amazed at the photos. Weight wise I am really off but this last month was a very bad one for food and for water retention.

Okay, I did make it, yay! And now I've had time to read through everybody's pics, I want to say WOWOWOW! You ladies are AWESOME.
At the end of the year my schedule will ease up greatly... and I'll be able to exercise again, yay!
Dieting without exercising is pretty frustrating, because you can't get rid of the jigglies like you can when you're doing step ups and squats. My goal for the next challenge will be more fat loss but lots and lots of muscle building!
And we end with 23. Congrats, chicas! I'll try to get the voting poll up sometime today since I can't do it here in the forum. I'll have to link it again like last time.
