Kind of low on carbs, have to do some tweaking as I come up with recipes. The chili and meatloaf sound good and I will have to try them!
I just wanted to say that I am already impressed with your starting stats. I first looked at your pictures, and then your age and was shocked to say the least!
Cynthia, I thought I recognized your user name from PN! I haven't been on there much in ages (bought PN in Dec '06).
take care,
Debby
I got my PN in Jan '07... but then I got sick the day after it arrived and stayed that way for like a month. So it was a rocky start... and once back on my feet, I quickly got diagnosed with the plantar fasciitis. Using a recumbent bike is what set it off. (Now I avoid them like the plague!)
I definitely like the PN style of eating, but I have trouble keeping a calorie deficit. I am one of those who can happily overeat even healthy foods.
I had a great week! It was fun making the entire day's meal in the morning and then picking away at it all day.
Haven't seen any real changes in weight or measurements. Maybe lost a pound. 128.5 tonight, but last week's weigh-in was after a massive meal, and I didn't really lose 3 pounds.
Did get back to training (free weights, intervals, cardio).
Wow, the past week was completely on track with workouts. 3 Strength training and 3 cardio intervals. Nice walk/some easy running on trails at the park on Friday. Feeling great - getting my strength back and enjoying the much-needed endorphins. Having fun with Leigh's OBM challenge.
I wasn't on the computer much last week, but will try to start doing daily updates to my blog. There are so many supportive and helpful people here!
Hey Debby! I just wanted to say that positivity really shines through your posts; I enjoy reading them. Glad to hear that your training is going so well
Well, so much for keeping up with this training log (and I haven't even looked at my blog since last Saturday when I did my First Week Update).
BUT...I have been very consistant with my daily workouts and OBM 30 Day Challenge calories. Well, actually last night I did my first "cheat" and ate an extra boiled egg just before bed. I think I did too much activity yesterday and I was VERY hungry at bedtime.
I had the best sleep ever last night - 9 1/2 hours straight through. I usually have to get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. DH was at the cabin last night, so no snoring to wake me up either.
I've been doing strenght training and intervals on alternating days. Have been doing plenty of pushups, but have cut back to doing them on strength training days only. I actually did some Pilates mat work last night. I've been wanting to get back to Yoga/Pilates for stretching/flexibility for a long time, but keep putting it off. Since I haven't been stretching after my workouts lately, I figured I'd better get back to it!
Plus, I am in on another Fitness Challenge where you log each workout. There is no actual winner/prize, just a challenge to yourself and this is providing me with a lot of motivation. Feels great to be getting my fitness back - the first half of the year was tough - and this was supposed to be the year I completed some "goals" for my Fit/Fabulous/Fifty haha. I wanted to do the century bike ride in August and a fall marathon with my daughter. Started back running last December, ran 3 5k's this past Feb,Mar, April with what I considered decent times...then had my setbacks. First time I've been sick in years. Mother's Day May 11 being the worst. Won't get into the details right now, but I ended up losing too much bf - which was already so low that my arms were too vascular (hard to hide in the summer ). During August, September and the first half of October, I ate over 3000 calories per day, as high as 5,000 a couple times. The first couple of weeks I didn't gain, but after a while I had a few big jumps. Put on about 10 pounds. Have decided that 5 pounds of fat would have been plenty. haha Now that I've been eating more like a normal person (but WAY low for me yikes!) for the past 12 or 13 days, the extra fat is dropping back off slowly. 125.4 this morning and it was 128.4 the morning the Challenge started. I was 125 the week before the challenge began and had jumped up to that a couple weeks prior. Sheesh, I sound insane. I guess I shouldn't have tried to bulk up after being sick - should have just let nature take it's course slowly. After all, I am an old fart now, and know that one of these days my metabolism may come to a screeching halt.
Ok, now to go get dressed. Today is Interval day - I used to do HIIT with short intervals. The intervals I am doing now are longer, so not so intense - 3 minutes each. Am having trouble figuring out my AT. My resting heart rate is in the low 40's (the bloodbank almost didn't let me give blood 3 weeks ago because my pulse was 46 and blood pressure was below their minimum in one arm). I don't know what my max hr is. The only reason I am thinking about heart rates is because the Fitness Challenge I am doing is based on heart rate and it had my AT so high that I had trouble reaching it on the eliptical machine. Haven't checked it running, but plan to do that today.
Sheesh, I don't do any updates, and then I write a novel!

Good update! I'm not feeling like much is happening this week, but then I've also had a bad day, so if nothing happens, well, I botched and I know it. Otherwise though, I'm going to just make the rest of the week good!
Wow, 2 weeks already! I took my measurements this morning and a front picture. DH is away until tomorrow, but I will have him take better front and back shots when he gets home.
Got on the scale this morning before breakfast and was 124.4 pounds. I was 128.5 the morning of Day 1 (I think I had posted my starting weight 0f 131, when I first signed up at 11:15pm the night before the challenge started, immediately after finishing my usual pig-out dinner). The numbers may sound low, but I have a small frame
My measurements are down slightly from 2 weeks ago. I have to re-figure my Daily Caloric Needs, because I was really hungry the last 2 nights (ate an extra 150 calories one day and 80 extra calories last night before bed - an x-large boiled egg, not Halloween candy! )
Waist at smallest part this morning was 23 1/2 (not sucking in - that was 22 3/4" )
Waist at navel: 25"
Under bust: 28 1/2"
Hip: 33 1/4
Thigh at widest part: 19", 18 3/4"
Bicep: 9 1/4, 9 1/2
Calf: 13 3/8"
Neck: 12
After struggling with taking these measurements myself with my sewing tape measure, I remembered that I have an easy-to-use Myotape from doing the PN measurements last year. I'll have to dig that out for next week.

Anyway, my weight is still up a few pounds from my "normal" weight, and my hips/thighs are still slightly larger, but am rapidly getting back to where I was when I only ate at the buffet once or twice a week.
The weather is beautiful today, but I have to get going to the basement "gym" to do a strength training workout.
That's very kind of you! But, trust me, you look a thousand times better! I have enough stretch marks and lose skin for 10 people. (I have 2 great kids though from it though!)
