I just realized I lied on my age. Once I hit 30 I just can't seem to keep up with it. I'm 34 not 33. I know its just 1 year but wanted to correct it.
LOL, you are too funny . No one would have ever known .
Your workouts look awesome. 2 HOURS!!! You are a machine! Your nutrition looks right on too. You'll be looking super hot by the end of this challenge. Keep up the great work.

Oh, I ordered Power Training too!
Thanks, You're so sweet. "You'll be looking super hot by the end of this challenge."
I could handle that!!!
You will be power training too, Cool, I will have someone to discuss it with!!
I have to agree with my husband, losing weight is a lot easier than gaining LBM.
^^^^
Bev, you posted this on Ceebee's log but I didn't want to hijack over there.
This is EXACTLY how I feel. I know how to lose weight but not without sacrificing muscle. And I know how to gain LBM (kinda) but not without adding fat. I am too inexperienced to know how to do the whole bulk/cut thing. I'm also too impatient . I'd like to hear more on what your husband has to say about it all.
Also, I think it's great that he is so supportive of you .

Thanks! It took a couple years to appreciate his help. I was a stubborn one.
I've been trying to think of how to reply, I'm not good with words. I can tell you a bit about his background. He was skinny all his life (6 foot 145lb), just didn't eat much at all and always moving so I think your body gets use to that growing up and you kind of have a set point. When we started driving truck he started eating ALOT. He gained 30 lbs and was miserable. Not to mention the bad effects healthwise from all the junk. He decided this was not the way we were meant to live. He started reading and learning. It took him a while to get the nutrition down and his weight. Then he started trying to gain LBM and was eating everything the magazines said then which was eat alot of pasta, potatoes, breads. He thought it was cut and dry, eat alot and workout to gain mass. He found out it wasn't, The Hard Way! He gained mostly fat back in a hurry. He was only able to train 2 days per week then which just isn't enough. You need volume for sure. He did gain about 10lb LBM over the course of a few years but its the best he could do with our limited days off. ( BTW he started all this about 2001.) I asked Jen Heath , which used to be my trainer, about it and she said it is extremely hard to add mass training the whole body just once per week, especially with too much rest in between. Its like re-started every week b/c you don't activate the muscles soon enough and you kinda go backwards. This has been a feat for him. We are just now trying to make the time to do 4 sessions in 3 days hitting his body twice per week. (2 upper and 2 lower, lots of volume) I will be upping his calories soon by about 100 per week till he gets about 10% above maintenance then hold there for a bit. (He has been lower cals to lean up a bit before trying to add mass) He refuses to add fat and any amount so I definitely have to keep it slow. Kinda like what you said about the clothes, don't have any bigger sizes! This time I will be adding BCAA's in abundance. I believe they helped me and its something else to try and get him results. BTW he eats super clean and when I would up his cals just a little to try to add mass he would just store it as fat b/c of the training frequency. I hope these differences work. It will be hard but he has to just stick with it for a few months to see if its working.
Sorry I was so winded, I hope I answered along the lines of what you were thinking.
I am still waiting on Power Training, You have yours yet?
Finally gonna log my stuff, Nutrition: Monday:
1415 cal
32% fat
36% carb
31% pro
Tuesday:
1436 cal
30% fat
33% carb
35% pro
As far as training and NEAT goes this is what monday was like:
Vaccuum and steam clean carpets in the house and gym: 2 hours
Carrying 80lb bags of quick crete and mixing with a shovel (15 bags): 2.5 hours (by myself, that is hard! I sumo squatted to pick them up. Put them to good use! My core got a good workout too)
Walk the dogs: 35 min.
I was so wore out after all this I was NOT doing cardio.
All I could manage to get out of myself today (Tuesday) was a morning interval session of 30 min. When I mix concrete it usually takes a bit to recover. We are finally done with the dog kennel, YAY. I did all the labor for extra fat burning. A total of about 100 bags of concrete.
I have lost 4 lbs since the start of the challenge, WooHoo!
Had to throw that in.
Oh Yeah, I had 3 sodas today, my goal is 2 per day starting today (wed.). Then next week 1, etc...

Hey Bev,
Lookin good! Congrats on the weightloss!!! You are doing awesome. I can't believe you did all the concrete work by yourself. You are one tough cookie! I would never even attempt something like that!
Great job on the soda. Keep at it!
Interesting about your hubby. I hope he is able to meet his goals too. It sounds like you've both learned a lot over the last few years. I think working towards similar goals will improve your success. There is no sabatoging going on here but my husband is so not into fitness. Oh well.

Super job Bev. Four pounds is fantastic. Do you have any headaches from caffeine withdrawal? I am still missing the sodas but drinking a lot more tea.
Thanks for sharing your husband's fitness journey. Your approach of maintenance cals + 10 % is helpful to me. You two truly are fortunate to share common goals. My husband lets me do my thing but he doesn't have a passion for healthy living.
And holy mackeral on the Quik Crete! The other day I struggled with ONE 60 pound bag of salt for the water softener. Can't imagine doing that for 2.5 hours and 100 bags. That's a serious workout! Have you seen those sandbag workouts? They just use wimpy 50 lb bags, not 80 like you You go, girl!
Hey Bev, I got my Power Training book. I love it so far. Strangely, it sounds like my trainer could have written it. Almost everything I've read so far is something Rob said to me. Maybe he read and memorized the book . Anyway, it's encouraging that I've already been doing many of the concepts in the book. I've only read the first 5 chapters. Now on to the actual program. I'll keep you updated as I read through it.
I'm finally getting to check in. I sure miss it when I can't get on the web!
Thanks guys for such nice comments. Ill try not to get a big head
I ought to make it clear the 100 bags was over the course of weeks, only 15 bags any given day. If I did 100 in one day I think I would die
Sandbags? No thank you.
I'm good on the sodas. Only 2 per day! No caffeine withdrawls, probably cause I'm taking it slow. Glad you are doing good ceebee!! I've thought about quiting cold turkey but afraid of getting sleepy driving. How long exactly has it been for you?
I truely wish you husbands were a part of you're lifestyle! It would be hard if mine were not. Maybe over time your accomplishments will show them something they want. Are they good about not making you feel bad when you don't want junk food? Some get a real hard time in this area.
I woke up late yesterday so no workout. Food was 1400 cals. No time for more. I miss checking on everyone. I will have more web time in the morning. Everyone have a great day!
Oh yeah, I got my book Chloe2! I will start reading it tomorrow. It's good you're trainer had his ducks in a row and didn't stear you wrong like some can do. Now you're one step ahead. I look forward to your post!

Good job on the soda! I really wanted to buy an energy drink this morning too! It's been 3-4 days without any soda. You have a special situation with your driving; it's a good idea to go slow.
My husband used to be on band wagon, but fell off. He was even the one that taught me how to diet, high protein style, etc. He goes out on a lot of business lunches and dinners and chows down there. He's Italian and has that passion for food, KWIM? I like to cook but am more moderate and willing to forego certain things. Luckily, he doesn't pressure me to join him.
Keep up the good work and stay safe out on the roads!
Bev, nice job on your weight loss and keeping up with everything. I'm interested in hearing how you like Power Training. (Yes, I'm another one trying to keep up with logs and finding the shorter ones first .)
Hi Bev, how's the reading going? I've made it through most of the book. I really like it. I think it's an excellent program. Some of the exercise are a little intimidating. I don't want to hop from the program I'm on without giving it a chance but I do plan to use the book to determine if what I'm doing now is well balanced. All the hip dominant, vertical push/pull, etc. I have no idea if I have all the elements in my current program. If I don't switch to Power Training now, I plan to do it as soon as I finish this program.
Hi Bev!! thanks for sharing your husband's story - my husband has been similar his whole life - skinny and small eater. He's always wanted to bulk up, but hasn't really followed any program for long because he wasn't getting results he wanted. I'm going to share your story with my hubby to inspire him and help him train better/smarter
Nice job with the sodas. Cutting them down slowly is really smart. Easier to take baby steps and meet your goal than try to do too much and not succeeding, you know? Now that I'm back at work, I need to cut down on my coffee habit. I think I'll copy your plan to reduce slowly.
Oh, and I gave you some video recommendations over on my log. Let me know if you have more questions. I could talk about videos all day, I think....

The first week was the hardest for me the first time I quit. Glad you are sticking with it. Do you ever feel kinda depressed knowing you can't have one? I know that sounds crazy but in the last few months I would tell myself I was going to quit and halfway through the day I would give in. It was like you gave me chocolate or something. I would be happier. I think I have a bad problem. But I am sticking to my plans so far. I had 2 each day. I go down to 1 on Wednesday.
How long has it been since your husband stopped fitness? Being Italian (or living with one) would be hard. They seem to always be such good cooks and very tasty food. I love the show on food network Everyday Italian. I would be in trouble.
How long did your husband train and what was his goals? Did he quit cause he wasn't reaching them or for other reasons, if you don't mind me asking. It's kinda sad he got you into it then left you hanging. But maybe that means he will come back to it since he had an interest in the first place.

Hey, thanks!! I just started reading the book. I am impressed so far. I love all the pages of exercises. I always wanted a book to teach me Olympic lifts. He explains things very well. It's a big book so lots to learn. Love that!! Are you thinking of started the program?
Hi Bev! I just got a chance to read your log. Thanks for stopping by mine and offering encouragement. Your doing so well. Keep up the good work on the soda. I know it's hard. I am trying to switch to decaffinated coffee and I get the headaches. Not good.
I responded to you on my log so, I won't do it again here but, I will continue to stop by from time to time to check on you.
I started the one hundred push-up program monday. I am level 2 I think.

10
I was happy with that. I usually can only do 10 when I'm fresh.
Today I did 30 min SS on the treadmill before leaving for work.
My macros were not the best ratio but calories were ok. I had
100 pro. 105 carb. 46 fat. 1230 cal.
I usually get around 135 pro and less fats. Wednesdays are
crazy so I don't stress too much about the macros.
I'm logging with my cell wednesday through Saturday so they will
Be short. Till tomorrow.
How's the 100 pushup challenge coming along? I started the first workout this morning. I added it onto NROL at the end. How have you been incorporating it?

I was able to read 20 pages so far. It's impressive. I plan to start it this week as I needed a program to follow for the challenge. I was just using my own. I don't blame you for wanting to finish yours first. It's good to stick with one till the end. That's something I never do so that is a goal of mine. I look forward to all the knowledge in the book.

I hope it will help in some way, does he have any interest still? With my husband his strength will start climbing when I help him train cause I push him harder than he can push himself. Does he like you to train with him? Just a thought.
Thanks ( on the sodas ) I appreciate the help with the videos. Anytime I want a new one I will know where to go
My Internet has been limited so i will log all my progress when I get home either tonight or Mon night. My husband is taking me to Dallas in the morning for our Anniversary I am SO excited!!! We are going to Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. Everyone has to eat the same food (what they ate back then) so I am not going to worry about my intake that day. My husband paid extra for us to have cake, so sweet of him (he usually is very strict about clean eating so this is such a surprise) I will be back Monday might to post.

Happy Anniversary!!!! How many years? Have a great time in Dallas. You'll come home well fed and ready to hit the weights.

Hi,
I haven't got past the 2nd day yet. My problem over oversleeping one day then on Friday I chickened out of doing them in the parkinglot (the only place I had to do them) so I will get back on them Tuesday when I get home. Thanks for asking! Oh, I do them as part of my workout because I get so sore from them. How do you like it? I love doing them.
I will drop by your log and keep up with your progress! Thanks for stopping by!!!
