"As far as (healthy) eating, either do it, or don't. Same issues repeated over and over is just insanity. We either commit to the endeavor or pay lip-service to it. This is the hardest part of the whole process, and it needs to be practiced more than the actual physical training. It's mind training." ~ Matt Thorne

Just wanted to add my congrats on the challenge. You did a good job.
If you get a chance can you tell us a little more about your experiences with Lyle's RFL plan? Obviously it's worked for you. What did you like? Dislike? What was hard? Easy? Did you train while doing this? I'd be curious about your overall impressions.
I really admire all that you have accomplished and that you're willing to post in these forums along with Anne. It helps me a lot especially now that I've gotten off track so much after I hurt my hand.
Hey Karen... just checking on you. Did you lose power?? The ice storm was NASTY here in Maine, wasn't it? Not quite as bad as '98, but bad enough, that's for sure. We were lucky in that we only lost power for about 11 hours, but that was long enough for me!

hey, lori - nice looking family you've got there!
actually, i wasn't around much for the ice storm - i drove down to florida on thursday to pick up my son from school and got back yesterday. my daughter went with me, and since they called school at 12:30 on thursday we got an early start. i was a little worried about what i'd run into on the way down - they were forecasting sleet all the way to georgia - but we were pretty lucky. it was rather nasty through connecticut with sleety rain, and we had torrential downpours through the dc area, but it cleared up after that. and coming back sat/sun was a breeze!!
eleven hours without power is a long time! i think we had a few intermittent outages (it seems to have killed the power supply on my main computer!), but nothing very long. we didn't move to maine until '01, so we missed the big one, thank goodness - i've heard some real horror stories!! it's so beautiful tho - like a fairy forest.
Congratulations from me too Karen!!! I know you were trying to limit computer time to increase NEAT but I hope you'll share lots of info in the next challenge. I love reading about your success along the way!

thanks, everyone! this challenge was really the kick in the pants i needed and i can't wait for the next one. your support has been incredible and a huge component of my success - thank you all!
For whatever reason, I got unsubbed to your log and just found it again today. (I'm blaming the kids and their random clicking because, surely, I can't be that big of an idiot... over and over again. )
So, um, yeah.
Merry belated Christmas! Happy early New Year! And mega-congrats on the challenge win and transformation!!
just a quick snapshot of the year's progress before i post for the 2009 jan-jul challenge. overall a very good year, tho i really wish i could have gotten my act together a little sooner!!
december weight was all over the place, but i finished off with a seven pound loss for the month. and i did walk more, i just need to go back and add that in.
fifty pounds and thirty-nine inches gone this year!! most during the aug-nov challenge...
copied and pasted from the official challenge post:
i am so excited to start another challenge! this one ought to get me pretty close to goal weight although i really haven't figured out what that is yet! at this point i am shooting for 150-160 and i'll fine tune as i get closer.
goal:
fat loss
plan:
one last round of psmf then start opt in april
increase neat
stronglifts 5x5 program starting next week
i'm starting classes full time next week and i'm looking at that as an asset to my program - u maine has an incredible new fitness center and i'll be out and about all day rather than sitting at home. also, i'll be taking my own food and i'm too cheap to pay campus prices so that ought to keep me compliant.
Wow Karen! I'm so glad you posted the last year's total progression! What an amazing year it was for you! I totally agree with Dillytl...you're going to kick ass again this year!
Wow, Karen, you look like a completely different person! AMAZING progress this year, and I agree about the difference in facial expression. You are very inspiring!

Karen, you had a fantastic year--amazing job! Nice to see you staying in the challenge. Do you start school again this semester? (I can't remember what you said in the fall .)

Me too (too cheap to pay campus prices). I wore my HR monitor a couple of days last term, and I definitely kept more active than I would have at home in the fall/winter. Oh, and best of luck on the actual school as well.
If you don't mind sharing, what are you going to school for/what classes (and, Anne, you, too)? (You might have mentioned it previously but I missed it.) I LOVE school and learning in any shape or form! I did 10 years of formal college just because. And now I always have some form of (informal) study (or 10) going on. I'm such a dork.
