Pictures and stats are due the first Monday of every month. However, since the first month's photos come due on a holiday, and some people will probably be out of town, pictures and stats will be due on Tuesday (September 2). I'll still get the thread up early for those who are ready and want to post early.
Thanks, Jane! Somebody I saw today who hasn't seen me for about a month commented that I look like I've lost weight, so that made me feel good. I probably won't be able to tell a difference in the pics this month, but that's ok--I'm moving in the right direction.
Oh I love that feeling! I can't wait to get back into some of my pants that are on the edge. I even have a pair that I bought that go on but are just a little too tight.

Way to go!
I have a pair like that too. I just dropped them off to be hemmed because I know I'm close to fitting in them!
Hi there everyone,
I've been slinking around in the background, because I was late to the challenge and then immediately went on vacation....got back on Sunday.
I took a solid week off, I finished stage 4 (actually did the last workout of the stage on my first day of vacation, worked out in San Diego which was a little odd) and really enjoyed myself on vacation. I didn't lift at all for 9 days, but I made sure to walk a lot and get a lot of extra activity like bike riding. I walked at least an hour a day.
Now, the walking was good for making sure I didn't backtrack on my weight, but now my knees feel weird and achey. My body just doesn't go for this endurance stuff. I do great on intense workouts and feel fine, but fall apart if I have to walk a long distance. I guess my ancestors were not nomads. : )
Anyway, I was apprehensive to get on the scale, but it wasn't too bad--the whole month before I went on vacation I was super careful with my diet and lost about 4 pounds after a long stall. I was afraid I was going to totally screw it up because I did drink (shudder) beer just about every night and had other drinks as well. But I'm so used to eating well that while I did have some dietary indiscretions, I was really careful not to go over about 2000 calories/day.
So, I got back on Sunday and I was freaking miserable with hot flashes and insomnia (I'm 45). I did a lot of research and I've come to the conclusion that it was the semi-bad eating and drinking. The scale was up, and I was bummed. So I got very strict again, the last few days, had a good night's sleep last night, and lo and behold, I stepped on the scale and I have lost 2 more pounds!
I always gritted my teeth when I heard about "weight just dropping off", but now it's happening with me, after a LONG stall--I started NROL4W in March at 165, and was still 164 in early July. I was getting tons of compliments and people were telling me I looked like I was losing weight, so I wasn't really worried, but I am so glad it's finally working. Whew. So all in all I've lost 8 pounds on NROL4W, and I'm just beginning stage 5. My weight has not been this low(156) in 15 years, since I started having babies. I am SO happy. My bodyfat measurement is now in the 27's, too, so everything is moving in the right direction.
Anyway, sorry to be so long winded when you all hardly know me. I'm happy to be here, hope everyone's doing well!
Elisabeth

Hi Elisabeth, what an awesome report! Glad you took the time to share your story and I look forward to your continued progress!
Congrats Elizabeth, Bev & Michelle. I apologize if I missed anyone. Way to go!!! It's so great to be able to communicate with others who have the same goals and understand the struggles that your going through.
And, thank you for the encouragement everyone. I appreciate your support more than you know.
I have been stressed out and busy lately, and my doctor raised my dose of one of my medications two weeks ago. I gained 4 lbs in 2 weeks but no inches.. *head scratch* I dont' like that, but i'll deal.
Libellula, could you be retaining more water or something? ((hugs)) I hope that things even themselves out for you.
I was lucky enough to catch DH's headcold and I've been feeling icky all day. I indulged in some comfort foods today and went over on my calories (though I believe I'm still in a deficit, just not as steep a deficit as I've been in). Oh well...tomorrow's another day and I'll get back on track then.

Some of it IS water retention. I'm going to watch my water intake as I've been dehydrated lately, which makes me more likely to retain. Some of it is the medication - it makes me hungrier than I would be... I'm calling my dr today about lowering the dose back down a bit, because it's not been helping with my symptoms.
Thanks for the welcome, everyone.
Ceebee, I checked your log and I am BLOWN away by the pics of bodyfat percentages--now I know I don't need to go below 20% and prob'ly 24 or so is going to be good--it's great to know that I don't have THAT far to go...
Libellula--I was reading the book again yesterday and Lou describes exactly what you are experiencing as water weight. Drink that water girl!
I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone does! Some of you girls are just tweaking already hot bodies...it's fun to see how they change.
Have a great day everyone...I have rotten DOMS from my 1st stage 5 workout, so I'm just walking and hauling chicken feed today...gym tomorrow. My eats have been frighteningly on track, so I'm eagerly watching the scale for once! : )
well, I havent lost a thing. And its totally related to the low calories followed by binge eating Ive been dealing with. Ive realized I need to eat a bit more.
Been following 1600 cals now, but my weighing and measuring hasnt been that good. But I am going to give it 2 solid weeks before tweaking(thanks PMDL).
I also realize that my bodyfat goal is going to be revised based on Leigh's video. 20% is a good goal for me. I am probably, based on those pics, around 25%. My body is pretty comfortable here. I am still unclear the type of training or diet I need to be on the break this comfort point. I guess I will get my answers at some point.
At some point after the holiday in Sept, I will transition to a carb cycle program if I am still stalled at this weight and bodyfat. The good news is a woman who hasnt seen me in 5 weeks said I look much thinner now.....so what i am doing is working, just very slowly.
When were you going to put up the thread? I had to take my pics today since I am going on vacation, so i will be ready to post them tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'm going to have a computer while I am gone and I won't be back until Tuesday (sept 2nd) night some time, so I just need to know if I should send my post to someone to put up or if I can do it, say, tomorrow?

If she doesn't want to put the post up that early you can send them to me (I'm offering publically so I'll be responsible for your post). I will PM you my email privately.
I walk, that's pretty much all I'm capable of, as well as being the only real cardio equipment I have (treadmill and/or laps around the pool). Lately I've managed to include a minute here and there of really light jogging. I tried doing swimming for a while, however, I found it didn't give my shoulders enough of a rest between lifting sessions. So now when I swim, it's just for fun.
The Month 1 Pic thread has been posted. Please use it only for updated month 1 pics and stats and continue to use this daily thread for chatting, questions, comments, etc. Pics aren't due until midnight EST September 2, but some need to post early due to the holiday coming up next weekend.

Hi Mandy, just a thought for you with deprivation/binge cycles you've been mentioning. You seems very earnest and eager in your desire to lose weight, but consider this:
1. There are tons of women that would kill to have your body right now.
2. Just reading between the lines, I wonder if your search for the perfect diet and workout plan is an attempt to control the bingeing problem. In other words, you want to feel in control about the food more than you really care about being x% bodyfat and y body weight.
3. If the psychological/deprivation part of dieting is stressing you out right now, then back off. Just concentrate on eating well, getting the right amount of exercise and being good to yourself. Keep it simple.
Rather than focusing on weight loss, just eat a maintenance til you feel more consistent with your eating. You recently lost 20 pounds through weight watchers. That's a strict diet, especially for your activity levels. You may just need a mental break.
That said, it's a step in the right direction that you have been able to reduce your workout schedule and are upping your calories. Just know it's ok to have a goal of consistently eating well and maintaining.
Just some thoughts for you. I know I overstepped my bounds, but I just wanted to say it's ok if you need to take a diet break.
What are you ladies doing as far as SS cardio? I haven't been doing any since I started NROL4W back in March.
The main reason I started NROLFW is that I injured myself running and really couldn't do much in the way of cardio. After finishing Stage 1 I joined a gym and started swimming. Now I am back to running a little- short workouts of 3 min. running and 2 min. walking.
I'm just walking (which is different from when I was doing NROL4W and HIIT and a bunch of other stuff) because of Leigh Peele's suggestions that I was pissing my body off (because of a long history of other problems lol). So far the walking and careful focus on diet has worked.
