I'm starting the Women's Challenge today, so here's a new log! (Same name, new attitude ).
Plan: Leigh Peele's OPT, currently on week 2.
My main current goal is to lose 35 pounds by the time I'm 35 (around Christmas) (Goal weight 190). Mid-goal celebration at 210 (driver's license weight!).
Challenge Goals:
Fat loss
Lose 29.75 pounds by Dec 1 (goal weight: 195.5) part of my "Lose 35 by my 35th birthday" goal. This is 1.75 pounds/week (birthday is around Christmas)
Mid term goal: 210 (the weight on my driver's license!)
Run 5k (all running, no walking!)
Stats: (Yes there are a lot. I use them for sewing too, so there's a few unusual ones).
Picture's aren't as bad as I expected. I was grinning in them all, so that helped. Bought the top and shorts at Target. I will look good in them some day!
Thanks gals, I love jpfitness forums! And kudos to all in the challenge... It takes courage to take and post pictures.
OPT Week 1 Summary
Food: My first week on OPT was really challenging. It actually turned in to two weeks as I got sidelined by a cold for about 5 days. My caloric limit is 1630 currently and I think I'm just finally getting used to it. There were several days with hunger pains and a few with other weird symptoms of hunger like nausea and headache. The past few days it has just been a little nausea, which is weird because usually I wouldn't eat with this feeling, but eating makes it go away. I hate forcing food down
Getting sick of ground turkey... Doing a lot more chicken this week. Also eyeing the buffalo burgers in my freezer. I finally got around to seasoning my new wok and tried it out last night. I can't wait to make more food in it. I wandered around the local mega asian grocery store (Uwajimaya) Saturday just looking at labels.
I need to work on keeping my carbs down. It is soooooo easy to go over 143g of carbs. I have given up my black tea lemonades from Starbucks (I would get them unsweetened) and have just been getting black tea (0 cal!) and putting lemon juice and splenda in. For a treat, I have these Breyer's 40 calorie all natural pure fruit swirl bars.
Exercise:
Much better on this front than the food. I think this was the first time I have ever exercised so much in a week. Cardio has been interval running/walking and trying to get the mileage up. My knees are complaining after yesterday's step ups during weight workout and the 2.3 mile run/walk. Thank goodness today is a rest day. The weight workouts fortunately don't wipe me out like NROLFW, so I can actually do stuff afterwards.
This week is supposed to be HOT where I live so it will take extra effort to get to the gym. They elliptical may be on tap due to knees. I hate the treadmill, I'd rather be outside.

Great start girl!
99% of S-bux drinks are pure carb evil! Black tea with lemon sounds good though...Green tea may sound even better...

I need the caffeine!!!! The Black Tea Lemonades weren't that bad if you got them unsweetened (I used to ask for 2 splendas). Only carbs in a like 6oz of lemonade. And frozen blended ones..... oh man. My office is going to heat up the next few days, that sounds so good! We have a little fridge but no ice. Must resist Starbucks. At least we have a water cooler. Still doesn't help the fact the stupid A/C is useless over 85degrees F outside. And it sounds like a freight train. We all wear headphones with music to drown it out.
Inspiration pics.... (she needs a little more muscle, methinks). The first one is bound to be photoshopped. The others look like paparazzi pictures. I think I'll go convert some of my Alias dvds for my iPod exercise viewing!
I want to look like Holly Hunter when I am 50. Anyone watch Saving Grace? She is ripped!
Love the show. I haven't started watching season 2 yet as I started the first episode and think perhaps I skipped the last episode of season 1. So I need to go look out the saved copies of season 1 first.
Welcome to the challenge. I love my Starbucks and they aren't all evil, you just have to know how to order. I have it down to an art.
Unfortunately they're the only choice at work, but I rarely get coffee. Iced Tea + Splenda for me. I splurged and fit in my calories a blended unsweetened (1 splenda) black tea lemonade. It was 88 degrees in my office (98 outside) and I freaking deserved it!!!!
Operation 35x35 is underway! Can akimbo lose 35 pounds by her 35th birthday? Will she become a gym rat, or give up when it starts to get cold and rainy? There will be no excuses! Fancy Graph! Daily goal weight plotted against recorded weight.
(heck I'll be plenty happy if my weight trend just goes down instead of flat!)
I just checked my macros for the last week... I'm pretty happy.
Daily averages for the past 7 days
Energy Gained Through Food: 1693 cals (goal 1630)
Fat:42.9g 23% (goal 25%)
Carbs: 171.3g 40% (goal 35%)
Protein: 155.1g 37% (goal 40%)
Finding it hard to keep the carbs down lower, but I did quite well. What put me over on cals was probably Saturday at 1959. I had 5 small slices of Papa Murphy's Chicken DeLITE pizza (basically regular pizza with really thin crust) but it was my treat for the week. I'm not sure what this week's will be. I've been eying the chocolate donuts at Starbucks. I think just buying a really nice dark chocolate bar would better! Maybe I better run to Cost Plus World Market for some Scharffen Berger! *sigh* ... only thing I'm craving at the moment. I'm still amazed I'm coping on 1630 cal/day. Its not torture!
Missed a workout last night between a super-long-tortuous commute and the losing of my wallet which entailed hunting around and cleaning looking for it (thank goodness a neighbor found it and returned it). By the time it was located, the gym was about to close and I was in a really pissy mood! Back in tonight!
Random question if anyone is still reading this: What are everyone's opinion on bangs? I basically leaving my hair in a ponytail all the time these days and it is not flattering at all. I need to find a picture of what I want, which is NOT blunt cut all the way across. I have have thick straight hair just below the shoulder.
Whew! I made it through the weekend. I lost 2 pounds over the weekend, which in hindsight I was probably holding onto due to PMS.
I managed to get 3 workouts in, 2 cardio, one weights but it should have been 4. I got to the gym Friday night and they were closed because the a/c had died. I got really cranky and decided nothing was happening that night (I could have run but I didn't have my running shoes with me and I didn't relish driving 20 min back in traffic to get them)
Eating was not as good as it has been. I made some No Pudge brownies at my BFs. I made him hide them Sunday or I would have eaten the whole pan (sidenote: Why does Trader Joes no longer have the No Pudge Mixes?? They're so expensive elsewhere). Went out to eat with a friend Sat night. Had turkey curry soup, seafood mixed grill skewer, bread (not much) and butter (a little) and creme brulee. YUM. I amazingly didn't eat the orzo underneath the skewer. Saved my carbs for dessert
Back on the wagon today. Looking forward to finishing up week 3 this week, becuase week 4 is recovery week! Which means I'll have lots of time to clean/de-junk my house becuase I won't be working out. I did make a dent on Saturday with the Olympics on in the background.
Sunday my cardio was a run, same route as a week ago and about 5 minutes faster!
My pants are getting looser, now if the scale would just catch up...

Sadly I'm a hair in ponytail type myself so I'm the wrong person to ask about bangs.

Heh! Me too, that's why I wanted bangs. I look so lame with everything pulled back. I got motivated and went out that night I posted that armed with a picture and got me some bangs. I look less severe now with the ponytail, but I haven't had bangs in decades, I need to get used to styling them.
Note avatar picture, right after they were cut. I haven't yet been able to make them look like that again!!!
Funny, but I always take my avatar pictures right after I've coloured it. I went to meet people from another board a couple of weeks ago and didn't think to mention that I never actually wear it that way. Well, sometimes, within a week of the new dye job, but not on a hot humid day (which it was). I do sometimes wonder why I keep it long. Oh I know, so I can pull it back into a ponytail!

Heck yeah, I have this thing about hair touching my face and neck (wait... I just got bangs. *#$! I have ponytail holders everywhere at home and work. I've been known to squish it up at work and then pull the ponytail out when I leave the confines of my office. I cannot program with loose hair!
Just wanted to say hi- just checkin out some new logs. Good luck with the challenge, too.
I have chest length curly hair and got bangs back in April. I think yours are adorable! I know what a challenge it can be to actually "do" your hair. Some days I just pin the bangs back when I don't feel like doing them Oh and there are so many pony tail holders around my house and desk at work. But I can never seem to find one when I need it.
Just popping in to say Hi. Good luck in the challenge.
I can't stand my hair touching my neck either. I keep it short. It's easier that way. And I pretty much never have to "do" my hair--just towel dry and go!
I need a new 'do too... I grew it out long, and then cut layers which look a little better but suck for working out. I hate sticky sweaty hair on me! That's why bangs are the worst - can't deal with 'em when I sweat!
mine was pretty long until a few years ago. it's so straight that i could never do anything with it. hubby hates it short, but i love it - five minute showers and ten seconds with the blow dryer.
i think your cut is very cute and seems to suit your fun-loving personality.

Heh, yeah, I'm a goofball!
My hair is so thick and straight I hate it just about any way short. It would take waaaay to much styling short so it wouldn't be crap. I prefer to wash and mostly air dry (which can take all day in winter
The temp here in Portland, OR is hitting the high nineties/100s for the next 3 or so days. I'm NOT looking forward to it. We finally broke down and called facilities to look at the A/C at work (which is currently just acting as a fan). At home I only have a portable unit in my bedroom which gets not very effective when its over 90. I think this weekend will be hunkering down at my boyfriends with my knitting and watching the Olympics in his central air! Fortunately there's a rec center near him and I can get a workout in the a/c.
I'm tired just thinking about the heat...
I start week 4 of OPT on Saturday, looking forward to not working out for a week. I'm down about 2.5 pounds since I started, which all seemed to come off this week, so hopefully more next week!
