Well, I am still on vacation so my excerise is a little irratic and not really specific until Monday when I get back. But figured I better get this started so I don't forget.
Currently working with a trainer so I will do my best to let you know what exactly I am doing. I will be getting him to set me up on a program and meet with him monthly soon though. He is also setting me up on a nutrition program when I get back also.
I will introduce me a bit - I am a 36 year old mom of 2 boys and married to my soulmate for 10 years next month. I was overweight pretty much my entire adult life and thought I was when I was a teen. I lost about 60 lbs last year doing Weight Watchers and I has also taken up Mountain biking at the time until I decided to take flight and break my collarbone in two places. So I was out of commission for the last half of 2007. I realized earlier this year I needed to build muscle and it has taken me this long to get going. I joined gold's gym and started with a trainer earlier this month. I am loving doing weights and discovered spin classes. Still looking forward to getting back out on the trails mountain biking and getting my IT band fixed so I can run again.
that is me for the most part.

I did some cardio today:
15 min on a stationary bike (blech hate those things unless it is a spin bike)
almost 7 min on a stair stepper but my knee started to hurt
30 min intervals on a Elliptical
all probably in the 70% zone - forgot to put on my HRM :lol
will be doing my core later on tonight unless I poop out - pretty tired today.
They got the weight machine fixed in the fitness center I have access to so tomorrow will be some legs exercises and maybe a little upper body and definitely some core.

probably I probably meant 15 reps but 2 sets. :lol Good catch - not used to writing it all down. Especially since I just did them from what I remember doing in workouts here and there. I probably was off on the numbers too for most of the lunges, kept getting distracted by my boys and husband and losing count.

I am in a funk today. I didn't lose any or gain any really over my vacation which is good. just feeling deflated today. Not that I expected much being gone - I am just so tired physically today. I also had Physical Therapy for my IT Band Syndrome too. A little off about my nutrition, my trainer is just busy so hasn't really been able to go over his plan with me. He is going to get with me this week but I only have 3 more sessions with him then I am on my own. I am just not ready, I hate to ask for my hubby to pay for more right now. I am going to get him to give me a program to work on my own and try to meet with him once a month to get measurements and stuff. *sigh* I think I just need a good nights sleep. My PT appointment was at 6:30 a.m. so I have been running for a long time. Not to mention I had an eye appt and two birthday parties to go to tonight. Sorry to unload just really needed to let it out. Hubby is down with a migraine, poor guy. Need to maybe shake up my workouts. Maybe get him to work me harder, not that he isn't. Today was just an off day for me.

Hey there,
Sorry you are in a funk! I hope it passes for you. They come and go for me. I hope you can figure out something for the trainer. I hate that it is so expensive. I hope you can figure something out.
You should post your pictures of your collar bone. I'll never forget those.

Sorry you were in a funk today Vickie. I know you'll be able to eventually get the hang of your program on your own. It's about progress, right?
Those pictures of your broken collarbone are just WOW!!! I've never broken a bone but I had a ripped trapezius muscle from a collision with a big rig. I had to go through 8 months of PT, vicodin (yuck) and deep tissue massages. So I can relate to a certain extent.

Physical Therapy- in the early am for my IT Band syndrome - nothing heavy but found out I also have a over-pronation on my right foot along with all the other imbalances with my legs.
Personal training - Did several speed and agility drills
We worked on shoulder and arms today - We underestimated on weight several times. Sorry for no details but for the most part I am not remembering all the excercises. We talked about getting more sessions but my husband doesn't think we can afford it right now. I am feeling very very unsure of myself right now and down right emotional about it. Not sure why, mentally I have been struggling with the thought of doing it on my own. I know i just need to do it but I have so many imbalances in my legs that I am just not very confident. My hubby is pretty sure I will be fine - I guess I will have to figure out what I am going to do next week. I have NROLW so i can start with that. Sorry to sounds like such a woose but . . just feeling insecure this week. At least he will be able to finally go through the nutrition stuff before my sessions are up. So Monday I am on my own.

Nice job on the push ups!
As for the PT sessions, if you have to make the decision to wait until you can buy more sessions - you CAN do it on your own. If you can, write down the workouts you are doing with him either during your rest periods (or ask him to do it) or immediately after. There are a ton of women here who don't work with a trainer and this is a great place to ask questions about certain exercises and workouts.
You can do this. I just know it. And I'm sorry, but a woose you are not.

Thanks, Ginny. I know I can do it. I am just so emotional today, this whole week I have been. I just need to really focus and move on. I know eventually I can work with Jay again, just really liking the direction from someone else.

Please know that I really do get that. I do. How many more sessions do you have with him? What if you had him go through the Stage 1 exercises for NROL4W, so that you would feel comfortable doing it on your own? I do know that it is helpful to work with a trainer, because of the whole proper form thing........ Just trying to brainstorm a little for you.

I have just one more work out then the nutrition meeting on Sat. I am okay with the exercises, just nervous on doing it on my own. Thanks for working through this with me. I need to look at this as a challenge not a problem. I know my husband would love to add more sessions but he also knows I tend to depend on people in situations like this. I am just more comfortable with someone telling me what I need to be doing instead of doing it on my own.

Once you get into NROL4W, it's easy to go on without a trainer b/c the workouts are already laid out for you. I had a session already paid for with my trainer so decided to have her go through a workout with me when I was partway through stage 1. It ended up being kind of silly to have her there, b/c I knew what I was doing, knew what weights to use, and was already pushing myself hard. So you CAN do it and get on a good roll!

That is good to know. Thanks. I figured that would be easy, just need to push through the fears and insecurity so I can prove I can do it.

I guess I didn't subscribe to your log like I thought I did Vickie... but I have now!
Sorry to hear that you're feeling down. I'm right there with you, hun! When I made the decision to start the OPT program, my trainer told me that he wanted me to make the commitment to that program and really give it my full attention.... so I stopped working with him. WELL... little did I know that he would be leaving within a month anyway, so I guess things happen for a reason, you know? That being said, the first workout that I did on my own felt REALLY weird, especially since Matt was right there working with another client while I was doing it. I got through it though... and have felt more confident each time I've done it on my own. This has been a hard week though... I think in large part because now I know that he is gone for good and I don't have that person to be accountable to. Ugh.
We CAN do this Vickie... we'll keep each other accountable! Looks like you're doing great!

Hey Vickie, I just recently had to quit using a trainer too and understand what you are going through. On Monday, I started NROLW and was nervous about using the squat rack for the first time. I kept having visions of myself doing something stupid like dropping the bar and thereby confirming to anyone there what an idiot I am Meanwhile, my old trainer would be looking on, wondering what the hell I was doing.
However when I got to the gym, I just pretended like I'd done it a million times before and no one was even paying attention. Turns out it was easy. The next workout had barbell deadlifts, uh oh. Turns out, there's a video on this site showing the DL's and some good threads on the technique. When I got to the gym and actually did it, I laughed at myself. I was anxious for nothing.
Working out with a trainer was great. But with programs like NROLW and the resources here, working out on my own is feeling more and more doable. In time, I wouldn't be surprised if I liked it even better.
You could always try to go to gym when it's not busy. I went at 7am and it was dead.
Thanks to all your encouragement. I truly, truly appreciate it. I am feeling better today. I found out after my workout today, he wasn't charging me for my Nutrition appt tomorrow so I have one more work out with him on Monday. Tomorrow when we go over nutrition, he will go over the August deals for adding sessions. If something works in better then my hubby might go for it. I really just want a few more weeks so I can just get more of a feel for everything. With all your encouragement I also know I can move on and really work on my own too.
I did a 45 spin class yesterday and then also did my IT Band excercises and stretched (plus foam rolling OUCH!!!)
Today with my trainer we did legs & core. I do promise to really get the breakdown of what we do, next time. to warm up I had a resistance band around my ankles and we did several exercises which really worked my hips (which are what really need work since that is where I am the weakest along with my lower back in core)
