Tom, I feel pretty good actually. I have only been lifting once per week as I am focussing on the 10km run on the first week September. I have the usual DOMS for a day or two after - then OK. I don't run every day either. I don't feel overly tired (apart from running around after a 4yr old and 22mth old), but I am really ready for bed by about 1030pm.
I have been tracking the calories meticulously - just to see exactly what is going in, trying to increase the protein - and I am in a very small deficit, which is also reflected on the scales. I reckon at my current activity level I should maintain on about 2200 a day. My new strategy is to try and sneak a couple of low cal days in on the days that I don't train (say 1500) and rethink after the 10km run in two weeks time.
All in all, I feel that I am getting what I deserve. Not complaining about slow weight loss, as I know why thats happening - though if it magically whooshed away, I wouldn't be complaining either.

Thanks for continuing to check in on me . Once I get this run done, I'm going to really be trying to cut those calories and lose fat, so I'll be after your tips and tricks - as you are a weightloss maestro!

Wow Karen. Thanks for checking in on me. I can tell you I was secretly pretty proud of myself. I can't believe that I have acheived even 8k my longest ever at 45 years of age. I even felt like I can maybe just maybe make that 10k next Sunday..

Your workouts look good. Congrats on the 8km run!

Good luck with all your goals.
Hi Chloe, thanks for reading! I always thought that protein would be a no-brainer, as I love my meats and cottage cheese and am slowly devising a 101 ways with protein powder. You really do have to be on top of it all the time. What did you do to increase your intake?

The calorie deficit - now that is the golden question. I would dearly love to lose at least 20lbs - but I am such a piggie. I eat fairly cleanly - but I do enjoy my food. I also eat when I am not hungry - and I think that is probably my biggest problem. At the moment I'm just trying to eat cleanly and not exceed maintenance - but I really need to get my head around some motivational stuff and buckle down. I think a lot of my problems with food are in my head sadly.

So busy at work this week. Now I need to fit TWO runs in before Sunday - maybe one tomorrow and one Sunday should do it. Going to aim to do 8.5-9km. Got my packet for the run today in the post. So exciting.

Have you sat down and written out why it is that you eat? Maybe seeing it in print will make it more manageable.

I wish I knew why it was that I ate!!! Anyway, this is all going to change.
On Sunday I ran that 10km and I made it without stopping, it took 66 minutes. I was pleased with the result... not bad for my first time running 10km at 45 years of age! I'm more pleased that I set a goal and FOLLOWED through with the training.

So now something has to change - I need to take control .... allow me to ponder this a little more
