Celesta: I'm sure w/ all you've got going on...staying on track is hard. But, I know you can do it! maybe you should try just focusing on one body part per day??? 20mins of that and then 30mins of running/cardio?? Just a thought!

take care

Okay, so today I was at the gym at 5am...got in a good workout. I was supposed to do a 50 min. run, but instead I did intervals. I did 7.0 for one min. and 3.5 for 2 min....did that 3 times. Then I finished up with a 20 min. run. I totaled a little over 3 miles. Boy was I tired!!!

Tomorrow I am going to do some weights...and I'm thinking of doing what my mom (read above) suggested. Or I may just (starting next week) do upper body on Tuesday and lower body on Thursday...don't know yet.

Any suggestions?? Oh, my eating was good today. I put a roast in the crockpot and it was delish!!!

Celesta--good job getting back in there--5 am is early, I know. As far as suggestions, I'm far from an expert, but I recently read a study that found that over 90% of the people who continue long-term with their workouts (and make progress) are following a particular program formulated by a professional. I just wrote a long post about how lots of people on here are qualified to make up their own program, but I lost the whole thing and can't take forever to redo it. Anyway, I can say that's what has worked for me (8 months as opposed to 2-3 which is my usual gym attention span). I'm sure you know there's lots of good programs out there...hope this helps!

Just stopped by your log because of your name - unusual to have the same name as a musical instrument (and a distinctive one at that).

LOL...thanks! I don't think many people know that my name is an instrument.

Celeste: You are right...I need to focus long term. I know that I will be training for 2 1/2 marathons back to back....so my running isn't going anywhere. I just need to find something strength wise to help me. I am seriously thinking of the one body part/day...but I'm not sure how to get started.

I understand there was kind of a race between composers to actually use it first in one of their works. But you probably already know who won and with what.

Okay...so today I did a 6 mile run. I did my run on the TM. Hopefully I can start doing them outside since the weather is starting to be cooler in the mornings. Anyway, I ran 6 miles in 60:40...not too bad. I should've taken some GU gel...but despite not having it...I felt pretty good. I did eat before...more than I should've. Won't do that next time.

They had a health fair today but I didn't get anything checked. I did sign up for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure thing...they are having a 5K race on Oct. 4th...I think I'm gonna do it. Little things like this will keep me going.

As for my weight lifting delimma...I think I'm going to start NROL4W again. I liked it when I did it and it's a quick and efficient workout...just what I need.

I'm also going to join a weight loss challenge at work. There is money involved...LOL!!!

Well...I guess I need to shower and get on with my day...

LOL, I would say not too bad at all. Sounds awesome to me, but I guess you are used to running. I wish I liked to run.

Yes, I do like to run. I think I've always liked running...I just never really knew it. I wasn't in track in high school...I'm not fast by any means. But I did like to go for runs in the spring...when all my sports were over. I did run in college every now and then. But now I'm really into it. When people talk about a runner's high...it's awesome. Running is VERY relaxing to me.

Have your tried running?

Today is a DOR for me...well I am doing some foam rolling exercises b/c I'm a little sore from my run yesterday.

Tomorrow will be a 45 min run....at 5am...I swear!!!

I've decided to do NROL4W on my non running days...which is only 2x/week. I think I will still benefit.

GO COWBOYS.........

Default Starting off right...

Well I did it...got up at 5am and went to the gym for a run. I was supposed to do 45 min, but I was having major stomach problems...so I only did a 39 min. run, which equaled 3.53 miles. It was an easy run day.

My thighs are still a little sore from Saturday's run. After work today, I'm going back to the gym to do my mom's aerobic class...it's a cardio/suclpt type class...very good. I'm excited that we are starting up again.

My menu for today:

B: 1/2 c. oats and 1 c. FF milk
S: 1 c. strawberries and fiber 1 bar
L: turkey sandwhich with baked chips (1oz) and 1 apple with 2 tbsp PB
S: ?? maybe a banana
D: Turkey chilli...making it for the first time...

Okay, gotta finish my oatmeal and get ready for the day!

I have made some turkey loaf...or something of that nature and it was SO good. I'm looking forward to this chili b/c it's a great day for it...cool and rainy!

I hope I have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch!

I have. I used to run when I was in high school as a way to stay fit and stave off the fat. I actually was invited to train for cross country by the coach at my high school. So, that summer I tried working my way up to 5 mile runs. I guess I didn't hate running then, but every time I'd start to slow down my bowels would cramp up and I'd end up writhing on the ground in pain. My doctor offered to give me a muscle relaxer, but that didn't sound like a good solution, so I gave it up. I did attempt a couple of 5K's about a year ago. I wasn't really adequately prepared. The first I walked a lot and the second my right knee started to hurt, tendonitis I think, and that kept me from running the entire way. I just decided I wasn't meant to be a runner.

Okay so I know it's been a while since I've updated my log. Life has been super busy. But my workouts are still going. Here's what's been going on this past week:

Monday: 4 mile run (40:39) and an afternoon cardio/scuplt class

Tuesday: Stage 1A (yep, I'm starting over)

Celeste: Ugh, the weights are not really coming. I'm doing this challenge at my gym. It's called "to the beach" we start at our hometown on a map and have to bike/elliptical/treadmill to the beach. We have 3 people on a team. Each person has to complete 225 miles. You have to do 50 on the ET, 100 on the bike, and 75 on the TM...you canNOT exceed 40 miles in a week. So, needless to say, I have been a major cardio queen lately. We have 9 weeks to complete the challenge...or if you finish before then, that's fine too.

I have been doing my mom's cardio sculpt class 2x/week, which incorporates weights so that's good.

Today I was at the gym at 5am and did a 4 mile run. I did a 2 mile run then did sprint intervals for about 15 min. or so, then finished with a steady state run. This afternoon after school, I will do about 30 min. on the ET then cardio sculpt class and maybe some more ET.

I plan to have DH take my progress pics tonight so I can put them up ASAP!

Have a great day!

"to the beach" sounds like a lot of fun - always motivating when there are lots of participants!

hard to believe september is nearly gone. challenge photos aren't due until the 6th, but i like to do everything on the 1st.

congrats on the good eating - every little bit helps!

Karen: Thank you for telling me the pics aren't due until the 6th...I was stressing about that! I didn't want to miss the deadline. Looks like I will have the weekend to get my stats all in order. Is it Friday yet?? LOL...

The beach challenge is great. Gets me up every morning on the days I don't wanna go to the gym b/c I know my team is counting on me to put my miles in.

So, today after work, I did 1 mile on the ET in 17 min!! Then I did my mom's cardio/sculpt class...it was great. Kinda like a bootcamp type thing. We did sculpting for 3 min., cardio for 2 min., and abs for 1 min. and repeated the cycle, but did different things each time. Great class. Then I did another mile on the ET...this time in 15:40!!

My knee is kind of bothering me. I feel like if I straighten it all the way it will just snap. Weird. Tomorrow I plan on doing at least 45 min. of ET in the morning and probably another 30 min. or so of it after work.

Okay...I've got ironing and homework to do!! There just are NOT enough hours in the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, I had zero energy this morning!! I just could NOT get myself out of bed!! So, needless to say, I missed my 5am workout. BUT, I did make it up. I did 10 miles on the tru bike today. Not the kind of workout I wanted or planned for, but hey, it's a workout...better than nothing, right?? My eating was excellent today. I checked the scale this morning and it has gone up a bit...but that's do to ahem, TOM. So, I'm hoping it will go back down soon...my weight.

I have found that I'm extremely hungry lately and I think it's all the working out I've been doing. It's just so hard for me to find time to eat something. I'm always so busy. Today during my 10 min. break, I had string cheese. Not a lot, but it worked until lunchtime.

Alrighty...that's it for today. I'm SO tired. Had lots to do today. And I'm still not done!!

Hi Celesta. Glad to see you're still working at it. Hope the knee feels better. As for hunger, lately I'm just finding some days are better than others. Sometimes I feel like I could eat everything and some days not so much.

Ugh, I hate when I feel like I can eat everything in sight. I think I'm better now that TOM is leaving.

Today I did sprintervals for 38 min. and it was a great workout. I also did my mom's cardio sculpt class. We did some good lower body work...which I hate, but I know it's good for me b/c I will just not do it if nobody makes me or if it's not on my "workout plan".

Tomorrow I plan to get 45 min. on the ET in the morning and hopefully another 45 after school. I'm supposed to rn 11 miles on Saturday...but I think I will just do 5-6...probably 6, maybe 7. I really need to focus on my training since the 1/2 is in like 6 weeks.

Default Month 2

Okay, so I've been doing this challenge for 2 months now. My lifting hasn't been going as planned, but that's okay. I have been doing a challenge at my gym and putting in a LOT of cardio time. Plus I'm training for my 1/2 marathon...which is like 6 weeks from now! I haven't measured my inches, but I will. I'm down to 132.0...5 pounds away from my goal weight.

This week, I have written out my workout plans, and hopefully nothing will come up unexpectedly and I can go with my plan. My eating has been lots better...and can still use some work.

Tomorrow will be a 4.5 mile run at 5am and 4 miles on the tru bike during my lunch break. If I have time, I'll do 1 mile on the ET after school...but that's IF I have time.

Once I get things settled for tomorrow, I'll have DH take my progress pics and get them posted.

Okay, so today I did my 5am workout. I was supposed to do a 50 min. run, but I thought it was 45 min. My bad!! So, I did a 3 min. walking warmup then a 45 min run (did 4.42 in that 45 min.) then finished with a walking cool down for a total of 4.75 miles. Then after school, I did 20 min. on the tru bike for 4 miles then headed to my mom's cardio sculpt class. I really enjoyed today's class. We used these balancing disk things and did pushups...OMG, my shoulders are gonna hurt tomorrow!! And we did abs on it too...I can feel the soreness already.

My eating was good. Not great. I had 2 extra tortillas for dinner...YIKES!

I did post my month 2 progress pics and I don't know if I can SEE a difference, but I definetly feel it. My clothes are fitting looser. And my DH says I'm getting smaller...but I don't know if he's saying that because it's true or if it's becuase he knows I've been doing a ton of cardio for the challenge at my gym...who knows!

Whoo hoo! Day 2 of 5am workouts! I've been on a roll lately. Now I can wake up before my alarm...and I look FORWARD to doing my workouts...am I crazy??

Today I did 3 miles on the ET and did 5 miles on the tru bike during my lunch break.

I am SO sore from yesterday's cardio sculpt class. My back hurts, my shoulders, my chest (a little), and my lower body...wow!!

Eating was great today! The cafeteria had chili cheese nachos...I was tempted...very tempted. But I had my tuna sandwhich instead...and I feel better and I'm so glad I decided NO on the nachos!!

I've got a roast in the crockpot and it smells YUMMY! I'll probably take the leftovers (if there's any) for work tomorrow.
