I know I need to and I really want to begin exercising. I just decided not to push it too much this week since I was doing so well with the eating part. I am hoping my head will be in the exercise part next week.
I got on the scale today. I know it's a little early but I could not resist. 1lb down. Official weigh in will be Monday, which just means that I will have to continue more of the same until then. I hope I get through the weekend without too much damage. The weekend is the toughest for me just because I don't have the structure.
My worst time for eating is the 3-5 pm time.... after I get home from school it's like all I want to do is eat! That's going to be a challenge for me with school starting up soon....
"As far as (healthy) eating, either do it, or don't. Same issues repeated over and over is just insanity. We either commit to the endeavor or pay lip-service to it. This is the hardest part of the whole process, and it needs to be practiced more than the actual physical training. It's mind training." ~ Matt Thorne

I used to grab something as soon as I got home. That is when the calories piled up. I realized that it was just really a habit and if I ate something at 3:00 pm I wasn't starving when I got home around 5:30 or 6:00. Now, if I am hungry when I get home, I grab some baby carrots and a glass of water. It helps to have something like that to munch on, it also takes out the aggression from a stressful workday. Do you have any lowfat snacks that you would recommend for times like these?

I like baby carrots too.... I can't eat them plain though. I use a little bit of Light Ranch Veggie dip. I also like to have a cheese stick with a few almonds. Basically I need something crunchy but with some protein too

I usually go baby carrots and a bean dip I buy locally. The bean dip is 50cals/2Tb and I match it with 4oz of baby carrots (a fairly big portion) for just under 100 cals.
Stay within my calorie range/points range
Exercise, Exercise, Exercise
Continue to drink lots of water - 8 glasses per day
Choose healthy foods
Increase protein intake to 30%
Another weigh in today. I lost 4.2 lbs this week. YAY!!!! That is a total of 5.4 for the month and the challenge so far. I still have not done very well on the exercise part. However, I am getting there. I know that I can't lose succesfully without exercise. So, I will do it.

Congrats on the loss!!! Good luck in the challenge!!!
I'm doing pretty good. Thanks
You talk about exercise being the hard part for you so I wanted to tell you that I was this way for a long time till I found some videos to use. I found them inspiring and would look forward to them. It would get me going for the day and I would have so much energy. Now that "lazy gene" is gone and I love feeling energetic and strong!! I started out with Taebo and now I love Jillian Michaels videos. Instablue (she's in the challenge) has good recommendations too. I hope you find a love for it. It makes it much easier to stick with fitness.
How are things going today?
Thanks for the suggestions Bev. I have so many exercise videos, of course they are a bit older from when I used to exercise many moons ago. I need to check out some new ones. I have the Taebo videos but, just never really got started on them. I will have to go there again. I know it would be a great stress reliever after work on most days. I have a treadmill to and I use it every once in a while.
My problem is that I really want to exercise in the morning but, I don't seem to get out of bed early enough. I am exhausted when I get home from work so, I don't do anything then either. I know, excuses right? I have to get my head right. I have to want it more than I want to be overweight. I am getting there.... believe it or not, especially since I have made progress getting my eating under control.
I have done well this week with eating. I am quite sure I have not lost as much as I did last week but, I am OK with that. I keep track of everything I put in my mouth, every day. Since I am doing WW, I make sure I do not go over my points total. The only way I have been successful at that this time is because I make sure I have food in the house that I enjoy. It's all about the planning and not feeling deprived for me. It also helps that my DH is trying to lose some too. He doesn't complain too much about the lowfat versions of his favorite food. (ice cream).
Sorry I haven't been around to check in with you... but WOOHOO on the loss last week... that is AWESOME!!! Sounds like this week is going well too!
I have to laugh about your reference to old fitness videos.... some of my favorites are the old Bodies in Motion videos with Gilad.... he could ALWAYS get me motivated to work out LOL!

great job on the weight loss! and the motivation will come - you've got the food thing going (and it's always good to have your hubby onboard!) and i think that is really the hardest.
Glad to see you back Lori! Thanks for the encouragement. I used to work out to a couple of Gilad's videos. Loved em. The backgrounds were perfect and he was very motivating.
Thanks Karen! Miracles have happened. I did some workout today. I have this program called Kinetic for my PS2. It mostly works the arms but, I worked up a sweat so that was good.
Had another weigh in on Monday, 25th. I stayed the same - no weight lost. I am OK with that only because I know I did what I needed to do and it is that time of the month.
My DH & I carried 12 sheets of sheet rock up a flight of stairs so, I am going to count that as a workout today. It certainly felt like one.
I definitely count manual labor!! Thats just like weight training.
Great job on your eating. It took my husband about 3 years to get me eating right (poor guy went through heck) If you like to walk or do any type of sports thats great exercise. Just getting your body moving and enjoying it is best.
I am trying to get back in here to keep myself accountable. I am still writing down everything I eat and I still have not done the exercise thing. I have lost a total of 8 lbs. since Aug. 1st. Last week was not the best week. I gained back 1.8lbs. I expected it though. My weigh in on Monday should be lower.

I hear you on this... in fact, I just posted to my log for the first time in a loooong time today too LOL! Great job with the 8 lbs lost.. keep it going! You're certainly doing better than I am in terms of the tracking; that's something I need to get back to!

Just checking in to see how things are going... I'm re-starting OPT tomorrow myself, as I've kind of fallen apart in the last couple of months. Here's to new beginnings....

Hey Lori! What a great avatar picture. Are these your boys? I have been MIA these past few months as well. I have managed to lose 10lbs though. Just by mostly sticking to WW. I haven't lost every week, but I haven't missed a week either. I'm still working on it and planning to join the challenge again in January.
