Official SIGN-UP thread for WOMEN'S AUGUST CHALLENGE
OK, here is the official sign-up thread for the August challenge. If you want to participate in the challenge, just sign in here so we can get an idea of how many are up for it. I figured I'd start it now so this will give everyone a month to see the thread and get signed up and ready. There will be a separate thread for our beginning pics and stats for August 4.
Rules (same rules Julie originally gave us in January)
1. You can do any plan ... does NOT have to be NROL4W ... you can change plans mid-stream ... but you have to state what your plan is ... disqualification if you are doing something stupid like Kimikins.
2. You MUST post your beginning stats and photos by EOD 8-4-08. You must also post pictures once each month. If you don't want to post your pictures, then this challenge isn't for you.
3. You are encouraged to keep a log in the training log forum. That way when you complain that you aren't making progress, we can look and see what you might/might not be doing that is contributing.
4. The challenge will run for 4 months ... you will be required to post progress photos and stats by the first Monday of each month and the final pics will be due on December 1, 2008. Winner will be decided by poll.

I am so excited to see so many new people joining this one. With that said I have a bit of a dilema for this challenge. I am ending the first one with an almost perfect rock-hard body. By August 4th I will be very near my 10% bf goal and in Sept for the pics I will be competition style body. Problem is my body looks like a figure model instead of builder so more work is to be done. My goals for the next year are to simply bulk and gain without gaining a bunch of fat. By end of next challenge I should have some serious more muscle going on and also some more bf.
So my goals do not really run with the goals of the group as a whole for this one.
My dilema is just that I am wondering if it is beneficial to the program to have someone who is doing more serious building type activity as opposed to fat loss or if it is de-motivating to for others to watch this? I feel already that I stick out like a thumb in this challenge along with a select very few others. I I don't need the challenge to keep me accountable for anything so I don't want to do it if it isn't going to give others a boost and inspiration.
You guys can PM me if you have any concerns RE this.

I think it has most definitely been beneficial having you in the challenge and I know I have learned a lot from you, even if we have different goals. I've enjoyed seeing everyone's changes, including you. I, personally, don't see a reason for you to not participate.

I don't like the pictures, but I've gotten used to them and now see them as a helpful tool for guaging my progress. (Did that sound convincing ?)
Karla, I have no problems with you or anyone else in figure competitor shape being in the challenge. I like to see and read about everyone's progress, no matter what shape they're in.
I imagined that participants would have a variety of goals. I am at a point where my goal is to have an 'almost-perfect rock hard...figure model' body by the end of the challenge. I would find it very motivating to follow your journey to achieving your competition style body.

Hey, I sometimes feel like I stick out like a sore thumb as well. I'd say join in. I've always found your posts interesting and informative. Okay, sometimes a little scary too.
karla, I don't find it demotivating at all. in fact, the PN group of 100 women contains a wide range of bodies and percent body fats just like this group. I always learn a lot from everyone's journey and I have learned a lot from yours.
Mine has a timer, although the camera is a little dodgy lately. I have to put tape around the slider to keep the camera from shutting down. When taking other pictures you have to compress the slider slightly. Sigh... I should have bought a new camera before the last trip (when I could justify it).
I'm in! I've been so jealous of missing the first challenge.
But how do you take pics of yourself? Do you use a tripod and a timer, or a mirror, or what?
Do you have children? My son takes mine. Which is why they are often crooked! LOL

You could always see if Glamour Shots would give it a go. I kid, I kid.
Please count me in. I feel like the first 6 months of this year have been spent figuring out what the hell I'm doing (diet & exercise) and the next 6 months will be taking what I've learned, applying it, and pushing myself as hard as I can.
Plus I'm getting married in October and BOY would it be fun to show off my abs then! Who needs a gown when you can wear a bikini?!!
