I get my measurements and body fat taken at the gym every 6-8 weeks. Would it be all right if I posted pics every month but measurements only every other month?

From what I saw of the last challenge you pick the stats, so just take your own measurements and use them. Some people posted lots of measurements, some just a few. I suspect as long as you're consistent with what you post each month it wouldn't matter.
Count me in, though I might not be able to start a real program until the kids are back in school. I guess August will be spent just trying to improve my eating.

(Jane can correct me if I'm out of line. )
Yeah, not a big deal to run out and buy a measuring tape. :p
I'm new here. I have been lurking for awhile and am so motivated by this group. Those of you that are just finishing up the previous challenge have been an inspiration. Please include me in the challenge for August.
I have people to be accountable to in every other area of my life improvement stuff, so why not this too? I'm in. Scared of the pics... but I'm in. :-)

Vitamin Shoppe has a Myotape type gadget that you can get. It makes it far easier to do measurements by yourself (however the cat loses the entertainment value of trying to catch the end of the measuring tape )

Wow that is cool. I have got to find one of those by me. I wonder if sports authority has them?????

Can I just say that I am impatient and can't wait til the challenge begins!LOL
As for pictures, I have been posting them on my blog for some time now. If I can do it so can everyone else!
I just have to remember to do it every month!

Count me in. I've been trying to shed those last few pounds of fat and put on some more muscle but I find myself lacking discipline because I tell myself 'I'm in "good shape" what will this hurt?'.....
Sooo, now I have you guys to be accountable too....Oh, and having pictures to compare...yikes!
Hey girls!
Apparently great minds think alike and the guys are also formulating a JPFitness challenge that starts August 1st. I posted in that thread that we ladies are also starting one and gave the idea of combining the challenges. At the moment they're thinking of doing a prize for the winner of having the registration fee of next year's summit paid for. I think it would be amazing, and very unifying to have all us ladies and gents in one huge challenge. What do you all think? (And if you read the thread... they're all scared we'll beat their butts.... so let's show 'em that we can and we will!!)
Well, we voted and our challenge starts on August 7 and ends on December 1. Can the guys post their B&A pics and stats each month by EOD on the first Monday of every month? I think the guys were really lax in that area! I've been doing my tally on the first Tuesday of every month and those who didn't post their updates get left behind. We are already closing in on 60 people so far in this challenge. I don't know how many more we are planning on adding, but I'll do my best to keep track of it all!
Or, if someone else wants to change the challenge around to something else and take it over, I'm fine with that, too.
Tony's idea was to have 6 goals to acomplish over the 6 month period (not necessarily 1 per month). I like that idea as it broadens the scope beyond who lost the most fat/added the most muscle.
Would the ladies be interested in that?

Well, ours was originally 6 months, but we voted and the majority wanted to end the challenge Dec 1 and take a little hiatus over the holiday and, most likely, start up another challenge at the first of the year (like this year). There are a ton of newbies signing up for the Women's Challenge (the largest percentage are newbies, I think). Not sure what they are or aren't comfortable with.
Maybe we should just scrap this thread and let Tony run with his. Whomever wants to join can join that challenge and whomever wants to just do their own thing outside of a challenge can just do that.
Truthfully, most people probably aren't even checking back to this thread since it was just the sign-up thread for interest. They are probably just waiting for the first picture thread, which would be due August 7.
Perhaps keep yours 'as is' - you've pretty much got it set anyway.
Tony's other challenge can still run, anybody from this thread who wants to do both is most welcome.
What say you Mr G.

I like this idea the best - a "safe" place for the women, a slightly different (6 goals in 6 months) challenge for anyone and everyone... and you can do both if you so desire
I would also like to accept the challenge, if you can tolerate a newbie.
And thanks to missjane, for organizing all of this! Being new to the world of fitness, there is a lot of great information that I have learned for free on this website. Thank you for guiding my journey.
