Thanks everyone! I am already on a role for next month! Saw 158 on the scale this morning! Can't believe my eyes. It was only yesterday I say 159 for the first time! Don't quite know what is going on, but I like it!

Sometimes the losses don't make any sense (ie. seem too fast), but it's good to see though.

Great job this month, Jen. I'm sure your consistency will pay off in month 2, as well. Keep it up!

Gaah... up to 160 this morning. It think it was because I ended up carb loading yesterday. Went geocaching/hiking and didn't bring enough food for how long we were out so, ended up eating granola bars. Still stayed in the calories for the day, but I think perhaps I am holding more water today.

Next Saturday we are going to hike to the top of south sister mountain here in oregon. It's a 12 mile hike round trip with a 4900' elvation gain. Needless to say it's quite the hike. So my plan is to eat at maintenance on Friday and Saturday to fuel my body for effort. Based on how I felt yesterday I really think I can't each at a 35% deficit and do this hike. I figured that it is only 2 days in the big scheme of things, and I really want to feel my best for this.

Those day spike gains are nothing to worry about. Ain't no way you gained that much in one day in fat right? Carbo loading now and then is a great think and you have to eat if you are doing a lot of hiking, biking, etc. I typically will add 1000 calories to my day for a heavy cardio day such as the hike you are talking about.

No exercise today... just way too busy at work. Will lift tomorrow.
I am close also at 163. Congrats!!!

Not much new here. Feeling a bit under the weather for a few days. On Sunday I had no energy at all. Monday/Tuesday was ok. Then today - wham - dead girl. Canceled all my piano lessons this evening so I could come home after work and sleep. Took an hour nap and now I feel better. Might have to do with TOM. It seems to me, the more weight I lose, the worse TOM is. That by the way sucks. I used to basically be unaffected by it. It was mostly a minor annoyance. Now craps, tired, and it's a day longer. What gives? Oh well.

Like that Jane thru up the gauntlet for the challenge. Should have no porblems meeting that one!

Grrr. I have hit a plateau this week. Stuck at 159 all week. Sure it's a temporary thing, but things generally have gone so swimmingly with OPT, that I am not used to such things.

Anyways, yesterday DH and I went hiking. Serious hiking. DH and I hiked to the top of South Sister mountain here in Oregon.

Stats:
Length of hike: 12 Miles
Starting Elevation: 5500 ft
Ending Elevation: 10358 ft

It was the hardest hike I have ever done. Lots of scree climbing. I bonked just before the summit and had to rest for about 1/2 hour before continuing. But we made it! Took about 11 hours total to do. And man I am sore today (along with the blisters).

Here are some pictures:

Picture from the bottom:

At the top!

Oh and the other bit of news.... finally had to go get my wedding ring resized. Was about to fall off. Down to a size 4 from a 5. Once I reach my goal weight, hubby and I are going to get a new setting. I have been drooling over the tension settings. Now there's a goal!

Can't wait to see a pic of your new ring when you get it!

I had mine reset a few years ago -- I had the diamond H had given me, and the diamond his GM had given me/him (us)... Finally had them both put into one ring, and we added another diamond to make it similar to the 3-diamond rings - except I designed the setting myself (with the jeweler's help)... you're going to love picking your own! (and size 4!!!! TINY fingers!!!)

Yeah got my mom's fingers. She wears a size 3.75! Perhaps I will be that small some today... though I in my adult life I have never been that small.

And yeah I am excited. the current setting is ok, we were in college when I got it, so it isn't too fancy. The diamond was my grandma's so it's got sentimatal value.

Finally! I saw 158 on the scale today! I am hoping for a 157 on the scale tomorrow so I can show a 2 pound lost the last week (my tracking is from Thursday - Wednesday).

157! Yeah! This week of 40% cut & 50% protein is hard. I've had to change my breakfast of choices to stay low on the carbs and I don't like it. I am actually a bit hungry. Can't wait for the week to end!

Hey, congrats on the new low. I find on days when I hit 40% protein that I get to the point where I don't always want to eat (feel somewhat sick). And to get to that level I'm usually taking at least one protein shake that probably covers a quarter of that number. I can't imagine trying to hit 50%. Kudos for that!

thanks! actually say 155 on the scale this morning... 155.8, but hey 155. Yeah, the 50% protein is hard. I end up doing one protein shake too, and sometimes another 1/2 of one later in the day if I wasn't able to quite make it. I usually eat more of a carb/protein breakfast, but this week it's been mostly protein which makes me sad since I have to cut out my yogurt or multi-grain waffle. Even the greek yogurt has too much carbs for a week of 20% carb.

Feel like Miss Jane today - went to Penny's and picked up a summer dress of $6! Was originally a $50 dollar dress. Whoot! It's a cute strapless dress and I don't look too bad in it. Amazing.

Hoovering around 155-156. So that's good. Went and did some shopping yesterday for a few items of clothing. I was mostly considering myself a size 12 and sometimes a size 10 if it was sized bigger. All the clothes I bought yesterday were a size 10! In fact everything I tried on fit best in the size 10! Wow. Got a cute pair of jeans from Macy's and a silky top. At Ann Taylor I got a nice black pencil skirt.

So here is a milestone for me: I will be TUCKING in the top for the pencil skirt. For so many years I so did not wear any top that needed to be tucked in. But I think I am the point were it will look OK. My gut has gotten small enough that it doesn't look horrible. Granted I've still got one.. but really at a size 10 how big can it be?

Also yesterday I saw some family friends that haven't seen me in probebly 6 or 8 months, and the first thing out of their mouths were "DH have you been starving your wife?". Apparently the weight loss is that noticable. As the one loseing the weight, it's really hard to see in the mirror most of the time, becase I still see all the "fat" places. Still got the gut, fat on the thighs, etc. Yeah I've got the signs of the scale, clothes, etc but when I look in the mirror naked.. still fat.

I really hope that I don't develop a problem later.... as I have seen other people comment about being skinny, yet still feeling fat.

Anyways... Starting week 5 of OPT, so no more rest! Going on a business trip tomorrow and Tuesday. We are staying at a place with kitchen's the rooms, so I am bring a cooler of stuff since we are driving. Should make staying on track easier!

WHoooot!!!

As for the other people and how you see yourself... that's always one of the biggest challenges. And let's face it, it's easier to look "good" in well-fitted clothing than it is when naked. That's when we (well, at least I) see all the lines, bumps, lumps, etc... which I can ignore more easily when I'm dressed. But you're doing great - YAY on tucking in - that's a big milestone

On my business trip so no weighing for a few days...

packed my own food for breakfast and lunch. Because of this I was able to do low cal for those two meals and still have almost 700 calories left for dinner! Yeah! Which means I was able to go to California Pizza Kitchen and stay in calories and macros! I LOVE this plan! To be on a diet and be able to do this is very cool.

Off to use the hotel's gym.

Your pictures look great and I'm enjoying your progress!

I have a question for you. I'm not sure if you mentioned this before but did (do) you adjust your calories lower as you lose weight? If so how often. Thanks.

I have not mentioned it. Good question! Yes I pretty much adjust every week. I've seen others say they adjust for every 10 pounds lost, but I just go ahead and do it every week. Seems to work for me.
