Was reading the "make my body hot" thread over in the FLTS section. I am starting to get curious about where my body is going to naturally end up when I am at my goal weight. I'm thinking I am going to be more of the sharika body shape rather than the kelly ripa body shape (I think that is who those pictures are). Why I think this is because even though I have lost 30+ pounds, the bra size really hasn't move - have gone from a 38C to a 36C. that's it. My sister is cursing me currently because she is one of those that lose it there first, wheras it looks like it's goin' be last for me!
Though you never know what the body is going to do, just look at my weird drop in the hips this month!
Hey Jen, my bra size stayed the same (cup size) until I got real close to my goal. Then, I had to face the fact that I had to downsize. So, you may experience the same thing as you get closer to your goal.

Jen, I'm kind of the same, wondering what my actual shape is. In the end I suppose what we want is to be fit and healthy. Those are the things that I strive for. Hopefully the rest will fall into place. Oh, and congrats on the new low!

Ah - good to know. I wouldn't mind being one cup smaller or so.

Yeah - I'm not really trying for any particular body type at this point, I'm just curious what my natural body shape is, since I have no idea! Right now I am just happy to be getting to the point where people call me skinny!
another week of amazing loss... this morning the scale said 148.0! Holy cow! Once again proof that weight loss happens in the kitchen as this week was a rest week for exercise and lifting - haven't been to the gym for a week! From last friday to today I have lost 3.4 pounds and that is with eating 50% carbs! Wow! I really didn't expect to see 148.ZERO this morning. Maybe a 148.9 or something, but nothing that low. Wow.

Have been lurking and reading about your experiences with Leigh's OPT program and was wondering if you could share some more details. I'm leary about purchasing as I'm not into "diet" gimics, but I've been impressed by the changes you've seen in your body over a relatively short time period. I am currently watching calories, eating moderately clean and working out, but am not seeing the results as quickly as I'd like.
What do you like most about the program?
What is the hardest thing you've had to learn/adjust/modify?
I'm anxious to hear what others think, too... there is just so much out there! PN, OPT, BFL... its neverending!

Anyways better get my size 8 butt off to work.
This is fantastic Jen! I've been struggling a bit getting re-acquainted with meal planning and tracking but this post is giving me the added "push" I need to stick with the program and work my butt off in the kitchen

The thing to know is that Leigh's books are not so much a diet program, as more of an instructional book, or actually a text book. She explains why one does or doesn't lose weight and what to do about it. Her OPT program is just a program for those of us who didn't want to have write up our own program. The program does NOT tell you want foods to eat, but rather what macros of protein/fat/carbs to eat. She has optimized that with certain deficits and cardio & lifting. It's not a gimick plan. It's teaches you how to feed your body to get results, and the knowledge you learn will flow into maintenance once you reach your goal. It is completely worth the price and completely different than any other "diet" book I have bought and the only thing that has worked for me long term. For me the "secerts" to my sucess has been never denying myself foods I like, but figuring out how to fit them into my day. For example yesterday I had 1/2 a cookie from work. I really enjoyed, and it satisified my craving for a sweet food, and it was in my daily calorie goal!
Let me know if you need any more information, but I highly recommend her book!
So I just read the details of Leigh's challenge. Very interesting. I won't be joining the reader's challenge because of vacation's I have, but even without those I'm not sure I would join. I guess the reason why is what I am doing works. I enjoy the foods I am eating and variety that I get, so I'm not apt to change. Why change something that works? Now, if I was having trouble staying on plan, perhaps I would think about doing something like the "1 big meal".
Anyways that's my thoughts on that.
and the scale was 148.6 this morning, so up a bit but still 148!
So yesterday started week 10 of OPT. 40% cut! Did the C1 workout. I think I must of underestimated my calories yesterday because I was having a lot of lightheadedness. I didn't feel hungry, just several times during the day when standing up from sitting, I would get that weird feeling. I will try to get some more sodium in today to see if I can fix the problem.
Scale this morning was 148.2. 3 days until vacation! I'm going to Sonoma/Napa valley for 5 days with my family. Just my mom, dad, and sis. No spouse or kids. My parents are pretty excited because it will be "just like when we were kids" - except they aren't paying for everything now! I will be going to off-diet during that period because there is just too much good food to partake in down there, so it will be a mini-refeed, then back on track when I get back.
Then the next weekend I'm am going to Vegas, but I am going to try to stay on diet as much as I can while there.
I agree with you on your thinking about 'why change something that works.' There's no denying that OPT is working for you ! I was kind of back and forth on joining the challenge vs. the why change a plan that's working for a couple hours, but then I thought that this is my final push toward fat loss before looking into strength/muscle gain and what I really want to look like. I could really use the extra help/push. It's not turning out to be much different than meal planning on OPT, but not being able to eat out at all is challenging.
That vacation sounds terrific Jen... have a wonderful trip! Woohoo on sticking to the 140's.... way to go! And I agree with you as far as the challenge; doing OPT is CLEARLY working for you, so it doesn't make sense to change to something different. I'm going to give it a shot because I just started back to OPT and I love the concept of the One Big Meal... planning is definitely my downfall.

LOL!! I am cracking up reading your log (had to go back a page or two) You are buying clothing like I did when I started my recomp. I had to buy two complete wardrobes at least. Just when you think you are done shrinking WHAM down another size. I started shopping Goodwill because I got tired of throwing all my money away on clothing. I have been at size 3 now for a long while so perhaps I'll have some clothing made.... And I cannot wear anything in the ladies department in many of the cheaper stores. Go find the teenage section and see if you can find anything that doesn't look too teenie boopie.

I'm not quite at the point that I have to shop in the teenage section! Those clothes are horrible both in style and quality. I tend towards more the Nordstroms side of things (though more the Rack of late). I have a few articles of clothing that I am saving to have altered when I feel that I've gotten to my goal weight. I'm not sure they will be able to be altered, as several inches of material will have to be cut away, but I am going to see what they have to say. I've also got this REALLY nice leather coat I got from Italy that I want to see if I can also have it taken in.
I'm going shopping in a few days and my plan is try to buy on the tight side of things so that they will last longer.. but still going to try to buy on the cheap. I hear that the outlet mall we are going to has an Off 5th, so I will be interested to see if they have any good deals.
Trust me, no matter how small you get, you can find clothing without going to the juniors department! Nothing worse than seeing someone wearing junior clothing who is way past junior age!! It gets a bit challenging to find clothing in smaller sizes, but it can be done! My mom is about as tiny as they come....only about 85-90 lbs. We can now find size 0 and 00 at Ann Taylor Loft and Banana Republic. Also Talbots.

Congratulations, Jen! You're just awesome - 40lbs in what, 5 months? - is amazing.
How strictly are you adhering to the plan? I'm finishing up my 1st round of OPT this week - I started at 193 and think I'll be finishing out the week at about 180. A pound a week is not bad at all, but your results are just so great - I'm wondering if I'm just not sticking to it enough? I've had bad days, but I compensate for those and my calorie average for the week ends up being right for but a week or two. I did poorly on exercising a little more often; maybe 4 weeks I didn't exercise as much as I was supposed to.
Any thoughts on how you do it would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Back from vacation... haven't stepped on the scale yet! Lots of GREAT eating. Napa valley has some really great restaurants. Back on plan tomorrow! I'll be catching up on logs in the next couple of days.

Probably a good idea to have a couple of good days of eating and lots of water before you step back on that scale. Well, depends on what you meant by GREAT eating.
