Here are my October pics and stats.

Not sure what happened with the hips.. I measure all over trying to get a bigger reading, but nope. Pretty happy with weight loss considering I had one week were the scale was up a pound.

Well the lose in the butt area would explain the dramatic loss in the hip measurments...

thanks everyone for your words of praise!

And yeah... everyone at work says I am "melting away". Don't feel like it, but I guess the pictures tell a different story!

thanks everyone! It's hard to believe how much change a person can do in 4 months. 30 pounds in 18 weeks = 1.6 pounds a week!

And truly the amazing thing is that it really hasn't been that hard for me. I really hope it continues to be that way becuase I've got another 30 to go!

So once again another milestone...

I can wear my skinny husbands pants! Yes, mister size 32 waist pants fit me. I've always been bigger than him since I've know him and now I am well on my way to being smaller than him!

Anyways he has a pair of zip-off legs pants for hiking that he doesn't like that fit me so I think I will be stealing them as mine are too big.

So this week I was very good and went to the gym 5 times. 2 strength and 3 cardio. I am getting to the point where I think I am losing a bit of strength. Not a lot, but I definetly have not been increase weight with OPT. So I will be very happy when I am at my goal weight I can start building muscle up again...

though I do have to say that I am still so much stronger than most women! No pink dumbbells for me!

152.8 this morning! Whoot. Another all time low. 140's here we come! I really hope that by the end of the challenge I can be at 140 even. I know my goal was lose 30 pounds during the challenge. That would put me at 26 pounds I think. Pretty darn close really.

Yesterday I went out for lunch at my favorite mexican resturant. We have REALLY good mexican resturants in this area. they make their own torillas which are to die for. Anyways, I was really good and only eat a few chips and bean dip, got the faitas and ate 2 torillas. I really tried to over estimate everything in my tracker (loads of fat entered). I then ate really light for dinner. I do beleive that I came in under or at my calorie goal for the day. I think the macros were a bit off, but not crazy.

so for my dilagence, I saw a new low on the scale this morning.

And once again I have to say I love this program in that it has taught me how to fit normal life into dieting and make it sucessful. That is one of the things I like about this program becuase I really do beleive that it will be an easy transition to maintenance. I will continue to eat the same kinds of food, just more. No need to have to learn how to eat for maintenace. Looking back at this, I can see why so many "fad" diets fail. They do not teach you how to eat for life, only eat for diet. So when you are done dieting, you don't know what to do, so you go back to your old ways and guess what - you gain back the weight! There are a couple of people at work who did the nurtisystem diet, and while they were on it lost lots of weight, but guess what they are gaining it back! They never learned to track calories and what their body needs to maintain. They didn't learn anything (except maybe that the food on nutrisystem is horrible and expensive!).

So anyways, I am pretty darn confident that when I am at my goal weight, that I will be able to maintain it. I may become a lifelong tracker, but I am fine with that it it means I can have the body I like!

Ok... off to get crap done.

In the end it's the calories that count. The macros may help with things like hunger and making better choices. However, a calorie is a calorie. So it was great that you met your goal for the day. And congrats on seeing a new low.

I agree with a lot of what you said about diets. The ones that always make me think are the pre-packaged meal ones. I mean, can you really do that for the rest of your life? Decades ago I saw someone written up in the local paper. She'd lost a lot of weight on (if my memory is correct) Jenny Craig. I was temping in the company she was working at, so it was an article that stuck with me (as I knew her). Next term I went back there for a couple of weeks and she had gained a lot of it back. She hadn't learned how she had to eat to maintain.

Jen, look at you ! You're doing so well.

I agree with you on your thoughts about normal life and dieting. I don't want to be on a diet forever and Leigh's manuals/podcasts have really helped me with fat loss and what to do when to maintain when fat loss.

Haven't posted for a few days.. Been too focused on other's logs with the challenge pics!

Anyways- weight is hanging in the 152 area. Should go down once TOM is over. Yesterday was a lazy day for me because, oh me oh my did TOM come in with a vengence.. actually took a day off of work! Haven't had a month like this in a REALLY long time. Hope this isn't a new trend.

Today felt better so did the OPT intervals. Next week is a rest week at 40% cut. I will have to cut it day short as I am going backpacking in the redwoods that Saturday.

Went to the mall today... was very intersting trying clothes on. I didn't end up buying anything, but did try on some cocktail dress and damn I am getting skinny! I wanted to buy one just because, but I don't have anything to wear one to. Oh well.

The weird thing about clothes shopping is that in some tops I tried on, I fit into a small and in dockers I can fit into a size 8. This is messing with my mind, because for years I always though of size 8 as being the goal. But I know I have almost 30 pounds more to go. So when I get to my goal I am going to be much smaller than an 8. Wow. Not sure what I'll get at, but with another 30 pounds gone, I'm thinking I've got be more like a 4 or even a 2. Holy cow bat man!

Otherwise weekend has been full of quilting as I've got a friend about to have a baby and I'm making a quilt for her and watching the sex in the city movie. (I wish I could afford the shoes she wears!)

That is such fantastic progress Jen.... I'm re-starting OPT tomorrow, and I'm going to use you as my motivator for sure! I think I'll need to read your log every time I get the urge to eat something that I shouldn't LOL!

I hear you on the size 8... that has always been my goal as well, but I don't think sizes are quite they used to be, and what is now an 8 is probably more like what a 6 was when I was younger (that whole vanity sizing thing is crazy). Anyway..... you're my OPT idol! Way to go!

Hi Lori! You had better stay around this time!

This morning new low again! 150.8! Yeah! I should see the 140's this week.

Once again I am so HAPPY for having found Leigh. She has made it so simple and easy for me. It's amazing to keep seeing the scale go down. I really haven't had a plateau of any significant length - I think one week was the most I have seen.

This week is week 9 of OPT so rest and recovery. I like this week because the carbs are at 50% which allows for a bit of change up on the diet which I like. For one, I can fit in a morning cereal that I really like (Barbara's Shredded Oats) without having to restrict carbs for the rest of the day.

Off to do more quilting!

I'm back too Jen and I have to say, seeing your awesome progress, is making me go back to OPT. I have maintained my OPT weight loss of 5lbs but I really want to lose 15 more pounds before Christmas break. Your results are fantastic thus far...Keep up the good work.

Glad to see you around Donna - thought we lost you for good!

So speaking of vanity sizing - Walmart is HORRIBLE! I don't usually shop there, went there for a quick thread run early this morning. Tried on a meduim top which was labeled as a size 8-10. Should fit right? well, it was too big! I ended up buying the small which labeled as 4-6.

Hey, why not? That's what I just did! I went birthday shopping with a friend and bought a perfect "little black dress", shoes, and jewelry with my bday $ from my parents. Got no idea where I'm wearing it, but hey! It looks great! I just told dh he's committed to take me out somewhere fancy...

I hear ya on the size thing too. There was a really good thread about vanity sizing on here a few months back. I wouldn't care even if I wore the same size everywhere, but no, I have to go through the same rigamarole in every store.

I almost bought it! But then what stopped me was that I figured by the time we had something to go to in it, it might be too big!

And I do remember the vanity sizing thing from a few months back, it was really interesting especially when a women who does research on that stopped by.

So I broke down and bought some new docker pants today. Was hemming and hawing about which size I should buy the 8's or the 10's. If I wasn't in weight loss mode still, I'd bought the 10's, but I ended up buying the 8's as I figure give me a month and they'll fit great!

(besides it felt really good buying size 8's!)

My dress pants that I bought super cheap at the outlet mall a while back are getting too big and those are a size 10 - though I think van husen sizes big.

So this week is week 9 of OPT so no lifting or cardio. I made a BIG mistake this morning and ate a breakfast mostly of carbs and was hungry by 10:00am. Ended up eating my afternoon snack in the morning. So I will not be doing that again. Need more protein I think, so tomorrow it will be greek yogurt. I have to say at this point that eating 50% carbs is really hard now. I've gotten used to eating more protein based food and actually perfer it that I find it hard to get that much carbs in. I think more around 35% is my speed these days.

150.6 on the scale this morning... hoping to see 149 in the next day or so!

Just looked back and the dress pants where bought on 08-23-2008 - so 2 months later too big! They were a tiny bit tight when I bought them. I think I've got at most a month left on them, if that.
