And sorry 'bout the pics and scale. I hope you can find your perfect balance. You work so hard, you deserve it like katydid said.
Thanks...I'll get it back...Alan's working on a new plan...and I will surely be on track after he's done!

Thanks Tom... They are really a lot of fun, and definitely something different...Charlie has a hard time getting me sore sometimes...so he's been trying to change things up every week in order to hit different muscles in different ways. So far...I think the KB's really worked...so we'll be keeping them in the rotation!! I loved them!!!

Yeah...I am not an easy case...but I am not giving up! Dammit...I have worked too hard to give up now! I WILL NOT RING THAT BELL. Yeah Charlie is a good guy...between him and Alan, we'll have my mess sorted out soon...

Oh sure...I say kettlebell and look who show up!!! Hehehe...hi!
So, last night I decided I'd go back to something else I liked...spinning. I was thinking part of my funk lately is because of my new schedule...my days are kinda screwed because of the spacing of them, and therefore it's harder to get my workouts in.
Monday Nights = class
Tuesday Morning = Charlie
Wednesday = nothing
Thursday Morning = Charlie
Friday =Nothing
and the weekends are nothing except any plans we have that have recently been a lot!!!
So, since I do weight training on tues and thurs...it makes it difficult for me to space out another day, especially if my weekend is full and i haven't got time to get to the gym to my weights!!!!
So, the new plan is to add a class as the gym...they're free since I'm a member, I may as well utilize them!!!!
There's a spin class and a zumba class, and being as I'm mortified of dancing in front of people...(what with all my flab flying around....) I was thinking maybe the spinning first, since nobody will see my big ole butt in the air, cause they shut the lights off!! That being said, I haven't done a spin class in probably a YEAR...so...I'm gonna start slow and work my way in to an hour by myself. I started last night:
40 mins, spinning...in the seat and up in hand position 3...alternating back and forth.
And then...10 mins speed bag just because.
I was worried about my knees, but surprisingly enought today, they're really not too bad. Last time I took spin I was heavier...so maybe now it won't be too bad???
Oh well...my next task is to find good spin shoes...cause my feet...OWWWWWCHIES...I need the flatness of those shoes to distribute the strokes a little more evenly...otherwise my feet might fall off...
So sorry to hear about your weight setbacks. I just had a thyroidectomy on 10/1 and the addition of Cytomel has made all the difference in how I feel. I have taken this month off and pretty much am eating what I please and my weight is 2 lbs less than this time last month when I was counting calories and NROLW. This gives me hope that when I start again (have a bad cold right now) that I will finally show some progress. I have been where you are for the last 3 years and it is no fun and frustrating. You are on a really low dose of Cytomel-have you asked your doc about upping this? It really made all the difference in how I felt before the surgery when my endo upped it.

Hey! It's sad to think there are so many of us struggling with these thyroid issues. It's not easy living life swimming against the current. I'm glad to hear you are doing better after they removed your thyroid. My doc said at some point that may be in my future. I have a pretty "lumpy" thyroid from what she says...I guess lots of small nodules...I've had a biopsy but it was negative. If you don't mind me asking why did they take yours out? I was afraid it would be more difficule to lose after they took it out...but I'm seeing that maybe it's the same if not easier to regulate given your body's not interferring with the levels.
I too felt SO much better being on cytomel...I was on it a few years ago, I think at that time I was on 25mcg. I had also at that point been having anxiety attacks (my mother had passed and I was traumatized!) and the doc took me off of the cytomel...just to help calm me down. She had said once my levels stabilized that she'd put me back on it.
I was just put back on the cytomel last month. Even at this low dose, I feel a slight difference in my energy. I will definitely be asking for her to up it next time, assuming I can keep my leves in check! It REALLY makes a huge difference, I am glad I'm not the only one who knows that...I mean, I really had noboby else to compare it to! Thanks for stopping by...and for comsierating...it helps to know you're now alone in all this mess. And that it can get better. I hope you continue to feel better and to lose...
I had 5 nodules and my FNA also showed them to be ok but they were rapidly increasing in size. The surgeon said the one that had become complex was bigger than first thought from the ultrasound and would have eventually pressed against my windpipe. All were benign thank goodness. Jenn on this forum and my endo both said something interesting-they think the lack of a thyroid actually is easier to medicate than having a wonky one with constantly fluctuating levels of hormone. I am currently on 100 mcg of Synthroid and 20 mcg of Cytomel-having my levels checked again in December to see how I am doing-this is such a slow process. The Cytomel has made all the difference for me. But I am at 199 today and was 202 at the same time last month before surgery and that 202 was with counting calories, doing NROL4W, some cardio and daily walking. I have not been exercising and pretty much eating what I want-did a lot of baking this month lol. So I am pretty stoked when I get over this darn cold and get back on track I might see some actual progress in the weight loss area.
Those FNA are no fun! I have one nodule that does press on my windpipe, but only when my levels are off and my thyroid swells. So it's kind of the first alert that my levels are going wonky. My doc is not concerned about the other nodule I have because it seems to be small. Neither one is growing fast, so I guess that's why she's not in a hurry to take my thyroid out. Initially when I irst was really off, it came out of nowhere, and I was complaining of shortness of breath...my general docor didn't immediately think thyroid, and sent me for a battey of tests like lung function and stress tests. (my mother smoked like a chimney and my dad had a mild heart attack at 42) it wasn't till my checkup with my endo that they figured out it was a nodule. It only bothered me because my levels were soooooooo low! Since that nodule my levels have been off. My doc said it's cause he nodules produce horomone too and mess with the tsh? I was nervous about the prospects of having my thyroid out also because of the possibility of vocal chord damage? I like to sing so I would be devastated if I lost my voice...or my range! My doc wasn't too keen on taking the thyroid out anyway uness we really had to. So I guess I'm stuck with it for awhile. It is frustrating for sure...but I can't give ip the weight loss fight. My mom gave up and she's missing a lot of things with me that I don't want to miss with my children. There are worse things people deal with so i will just have to suck it up! 8)
I was worried too but chose a surgeon who had experience with thyroidectomies. The cancer scare was enough to finally get it out. Yes nodules can become autonomous and produce hormone on their own and this is a sign that they are complex and can become cancerous. The surgeon brought up the vocal cord issue and explained that is the first thing he identifies and then the parathyroids-you are actually more at risk of parathyroid damage than vocal cord damage. Everything worked out ok-I was more upset about the scar. With being overweight and having skin issues and needing plastic surgery my throat was actually pretty nice looking and I was more upset about the throat scar lol. You have a really great attitude and of course your killer workouts lol...

Tiredness abounds right now. I've been sleeping so well the past week or so. I went to bed early all weekend.

Tis the season to be tired I guess...I am definitely tired but at the same time, it's my FAVORITE time of year...so...it's all good!
So.....in addition to my shoulder that intermittently hates me that I haven't really discussed that I have to go to my ART guy for cause he's a miracle worker and he'll fix it...*breath*....last night, before class I was in SBUX getting a PSL power drink for before my torturous 3 hours when out of nowhere...literally standing on FLAT GROUND...in Keen clogs...I rolled my ankle. It wasn't a REALLY bad one thank goodness...but it was bad enough to hurt and be swollen today. SO....I have a support on, and even tho I did it, I went to the gym anyway this morning because I refused to let it stop me!!! It doesn't hurt if I put weight on it, or squat...so, I had no excuse. The best part was...NO BOSU BALL STEP UPS!!! WAHOOOOOOO!!!!
So, here's the workout, the burn as recorded by my HRM was 590, with an average HR of 144, and high of 176. A really good workout overall I felt some energy which was nice...he said he was gonna make me miss my bosu...but I didn't.
Ball Squat Warm Ups
Warm Up Set: 15lb DB’s, Bench Press, Ab Crunch Up w/ DB’s overhead, get up then squat x 1 each then 2 each, then 3 each etc...till 10 each
Knee Push Ups with elevated push up thingies (very technical term) x 20
*these are harder than the ones on the ball, and I actually prefer them so we may continue to do these.

Superset, Rows and Push Downs:

I know there's a technical term for these, but I can't for the life of me remember it...
Ball crunches x 25
Done! I'm pretty happy today too...cause it's a higher calorie day and I got to have a bagel for breakfast...ok...so it was a weight watchers low carb bagel...but it felt good.........
Careful with that ankle, young lady! Although I was the one in a boot on the elliptical when I tore my calf... and I also put the ankle-strap from the cable around my wrist-cast when I broke it so I could still do curls... sigh...
How are those WW lo-carb bagels? Never tried 'em - should I bother checking them out?

Thanks hehehe...the ankle is better, I have been a good girl about it. He still made me do step ups, but slower, and holding onto a pole in the gym and one leg at a time. I think they were harder actually...lol!
The bagels...well...they aren't REALLY bagels, but they do satisfy my craving for them. They have around 30g of carbs as opposed to your usual bagel of 60+...and if you scoop...it's less.

I SO love them...and really haven't had any other problems in them...I used to wear the Simple Clogs but I had an errrr....car accident issue type thing due to them!!! So i won't wear them...(clog slipped off foot and ended up under brake pedal, IE...I couldn't stop...
SO, yes I did workout last Thursday, some boxing and the usual torture, as well as modified step ups for my stupid ankle. There was also some laughing and making fun of me for rolling it in the first place. I told him I'd make him pay, as I've heard for birthday's he usually doles out a free training session...I told him I wanna train him...hehehehe...
Anyway...ankle is feeling better...and....weight is back down to ALMOST where I was. This morning I was at 311.8.
I am fighting back to 310....and then under. I WANT 299....so bad. I'm on a mission. Alan restructured my plan and I am trying to hit my macros. He also gave me a 150 calories of whatever I want planned in, IF i want to use it. I have used it a little but I'm trying to go without. Also, I FINALLY had a cheat meal this weekend...and I think my body is responding nicely to it actually...I had 2 slices of white pizza with spinach...I literally haven't had pizza in a year at LEAST...probably longer. It's just one of those things like pasta that I stay away from. Stupid Italian side...all those carbs...rawr.
Anwhooooo...got a test in Oceanography tonight...gonna study a little more whilst I'm at work...hehehe...they won't know.........
Good luck on your test - should be no problem, since you love that class and the prof so much!
Lol...yeah...the pizza REALLY worked...down to 310.2 today!!!
The test was ok...I think I did pretty well actually...considering all I had to do was READ the chapters...since all he does it basically go over them in class..lol. Also some of the previously used quiz questions were going to be on it, so all I had to do was memorize those and I was already 1/3 of the way there........
Bosu Step Ups x 20 each leg Bosu Alternating Push Ups x 20
Standing on Bosu, Squat then Twist x 25
Pallof Stance, Lunge and twist, cable 60lbs x 20 each side

Get ups from bench with 30lb DB’s in each hand x 25

Hack Squat Machine no weight x 25
Alternating Crossover Lunges, 25lb plates x 40
Leg press, 270lbs x 30
Crunches on ball x 25 x 2 sets
At this point my HRM was only reading 600 cals…so…he wanted to make it to 700:
Standing on Bosu Ball, 10lb KB’s squat then swings x 25
Standing on Bosu Ball, 10lb KB’s squat then pull up to ears x 25
Bosu Ball Step Ups x 15 each leg
KB Swings, 32lb bell? (much bigger one?) x 25
Done.
By the end of the workout the HRM said 755, Charlie was finally happy and I was exhausted! In the end of the workout, I was actually hitting around my max HR too! The highest I hit was around 182! He was all nervous, but I felt fine...it gave me a second wind... It was nice to push myself a little beyond my comfort zone, we'll have to try more of that.
