Kristen, what do you use on your hands during your boxing workouts? I have been using the padded glove things that Chad has on hand, with the plastic finger separators. I know I'm supposed to make contact with the first two knuckles of my hand, which I'm working on. But after today's workout, ALL of my knuckles are actually bruised (purple), in between some of my fingers are bruised, and I ended up with two popped blisters! So is that normal, just something I'll get used to, or am I doing it all wrong, or is there something better for protection? Thanks, boxing expert lady!

there was a thread here at some point where she asked about this and got some good answers… so you might want to look for that too…

That link that Anne found is the one where I asked a similar question!! I now use 16oz gloves I think and also these. You probably want two pair that way you can wash and rotate them out as you need to! They are Mexican wraps, they prevent the bruising you are talking about between your fingers, and will also add a little wrist support as well! Here's a video or two about how to wrap...I find that wrapping a little extra on the knuckles on my right hand helps since it's my more powerful hand and it tended to have the worst bruising. When you wrap you go between the fingers...check out the vids below (one is really for boxing and one for MMA, I use sort a mix MMA-boxing wrap for my hands now tho)...unless Chad can show you how! You basically wrap the wrists and then your knuckles, come around your thumb and then hit in between the fingers. It really made me feel better about hitting harder too...since I would hold back because I was afraid of hurting my hands/wrists. It seems to be a good combo for me at this point, I hope they will work out for ya! Our local sporting goods stores like Modell's didn't have the 180inch, and the others were too short, so make sure you get the long ones!

On another note, we are renting a place on Narraganset, RI this summer and in Newport there's a Punch Kettlebell Gym!!! I think we're gonna check it out and see if we can try a class!! Looks like it would be fun... Also, in checking out their site, there are the other locations...the closest one to us would be in Norwalk, CT I guess...maybe we'd try one of those for fun one time too!!!

Default Dr Appt this Am....

So...my day started with a visit to my G.I. guy. Which would be fine...except I hate him. Every time I am there...he ALWAYS tries to get me to do bariatric surgery. I don't get it...I already said NO three other times. Drop it DUDE!

The problem is this...I already have nutrient absorption issues and we don't know why...so WHY would I do that to my body when it would just give me more absorption issues? Moron.

So he says something like..."I think it would solve all your problems" WHAT PROBLEMS? Absorption issues can happen to anyone fat or skinny...and short of my knees...and my thyroid meds (thyroid being outside of my realm of control), I am not on any other medication. (which he seemed surprised by as well) So many times I just wanna smack these docs upside the head and say...CASE BY CASE BASIS ASSHOLE. In their eyes I'm still fat until proven skinny...

They don't care what you do in the gym, or how healthy you are...they don't get it.

Boy will it be a big surprise for him when I come back and see him at 250lbs. Hey...look it IS possible to do this. I love people who doubt me...it just makes me wanna work harder so I can laugh in their faces later.

Speaking of which, back down to 305.4 looking for that 304 again. I think after my usual plateauing it'll be there!

Agreed, although arguably I wasn't healthy at my top weight I had no specific medical problems. Funny, but my only real health problem of the last few years was when I was actively losing weight (of course that was completely my fault). What amazes me is that people I barely know just assume I couldn't have actually lost how much I've lost so far without surgery.

And yes, it will be nice to see him again at 250, even at 200....

Well, as I see it you have one of 2 choices open to you. Either get a new doc, or go in next time wearing your boxing gloves and punch him in the throat. Either way, I think you'll be much better off.

Unfortunately for me it's in my best interest to stick with him...he is supposed to be really good at what he does...unfortunately with him I like your second choice.

Stoopid getting arrested and whatnot...

Stoopid doctor.

Just think about how great it'll feel when you go in there after Alan's done with you and he realizes you did it all without surgery!

Really metabolic workouts make me nauseous too. Probably a reaction to lactic acid or something in my case. Thank goodness it passes almost as quickly as it comes on.

Yeah the good thing really is that it passes pretty quickly, a few deep breaths with my arms in the air and I'm good to go...usualy...

Oh noes! I can NOT do cardio with a dead mp3... I've been known to turn around and drive right back home if I forget it!

Once, I turned it on (older mp3) and it said "rebuilding library" and then came up blank... I almost cried right there in the gym...

Oh hell noes...I'd have cried for sure!!!

The last 25 mins on the elliptical were hell...I just can't motivate without music...plus I have songs where I use the bet for my intervals...For Instance Cracker "Low" (thanks to Tina) is my warmup, Madcon "Beggin" is my next level and then Madcon "Life's Too Short" is my faster part of the interval...if I don't have those...I go NUTS! I need my latin music to do my faster cardio...it's one of the only things that gets me going!!!

BTW...check Madcon out...it's reminicent of the Black Eyed Peas but they don't have a Fergie...if you like the BEP....
