Default New Thoughts for a New Page...

So, aside from my workouts, I don't take the time to write down other things going on in my head and I thought from time to time I really should. So...here's one of those times. I am hoping since lots of you are already moms you will be able to give me a little perspective. (speaking of which many of you being moms and looking the way you do...(HAWT) it made me feel better about the following thoughts!!!)

I'd like to have a baby. I'd like to have had one this year already, but it just didn't happen. For many reasons, some out of my control, some within my control. Bottom line is that part of me is really excited and the other part of me keeps thinking…right now when I am finally getting in good shape…I don’t want to take steps backwards…I need to lose a lot more this year, and then what? I’ll be out of commission…I’ll have no time…and I am afraid I will go back to the old me, out of sheer exhaustedness and baby maintenance.

It’s sad because I want the happiness of a child, but I am afraid of the ramifications. I am also afraid if I do it without getting to a safe weight first, I will be in more trouble.

Oh well…I can’t have been the only one in this position…but it’s just something on my mind…and now it’s on here!

I'm sure Alan will have a pregnancy plan so I dunno why I'm so worried...but I am!!!! Lol!!

Hai! I can't believe its taken me this long to read your log. I will admit I didn't read all 76 pages I appreciate your advice and humor on this board so I finally got the chance to stop by and say hello. You have made some excellent progress and have an amazing attitude.

Now, about the babies...I have had many similar feelings as you being in that place in life when its time to think about family makin'. So I can't speak from experience post pregnancy, but I feel like I am in a better place now mentally then I was even a year ago in terms of being healthy and continuting those healthy habits while pregnant. I feel like being in the place you are already (mentally), getting back to where you were pre-pregnancy will come easier.

The one thing that is daunting for me is less activity! I think the intense workouts will be harder for me to give up then anything. This is all speculation of course as it is down the road a little for me yet.

Pressing is so different from carrying and moving (at least I find it that way). She definitely should have moved off, and it's cool that the bro stuck up for you.

Sigh... I'm not sure what to say because I haven't been in your place as far as afraid to get pregnant due to weight/health issues... I had my kids pretty young (24 & 28, with a miscarriage in the middle) and I guess whenever you feel ready is when you're ready... My main thought is TALK TO ALAN. Tell him what you told us, see what he says. I suspect he'll be very honest and tell you to either 1) wait til your body is ready / readier, or 2) go for it and he'll help you through all of it pre/during/post partum... You don't know til you ask, right?

But - can ya' time it so you can come to the Summit, either pregnant but not too pregnant, or with a baby??? Don't be 8.5 months pg for the next one, basically

Awww...thanks! As far as the babies I think you hit the nail on the head...I am so afraid of not training...and giving up my workouts. That's not to say I don't think it for a good reason...cause there's nothing I want more than kids...but it will be so hard. But you make another good point...I am mentally different than I was even 6 months ago...so much more aware, and prepared with the tools to do what I need to, exercise or not...so...I hope that means I will be able to do this!!! And yes the plus side is, I will know what is coming afterwards...when I again have the time for the gym. Which is something we have already discussed as being relaly important for us as a couple...we both want to stay healthy and continue to be gym rats! That way our kids will too!!! Thanks!!!!

Funny you should say that...cause that was my plan... I'm thinking give myself the year and then post summit...BABY TIME!!! I should ask Alan...duh. Maybe the restrictions I am placing on myself are too much, and given my body type, there is less to worry about. I mean...all my numbers are good...BP is under control, so it's about being able to keep it there for 9 months. I am capable of doing whatever I need to now...so hopfully it will be ok. I am going to be 32 in January...so I'd like to do it soon! I wish I had started earlier sometimes, but then I think that it was nice to be able to enjoy each other for these 5 years. It just wasn't in the cards for me when we were getting married...there was so much going on with my mom having just passed away...I had no brains and no time. I'm in a much better place now. That's how I know it's almost the right time....well...that and every time one of my friends has a stinkin baby I'm like...on congrats...then in my head....I WANT ONE!!! Lol....

Getting healthier and pregnancy are not mutually exclusive. My SIL lost weight while pg--of course her nutrition was very good, she hit all of her nutrients, and the baby was a good size. It can be done, and you are so fortunate to have Alan and the people on this board to help you out. I had a horrible 2nd pregnancy--hips messed up, in a wheelchair for part of the time, gained 60 pounds...but in my third, I was very conscious of my nutrition and took some yoga, and managed to actually fix a lot of my hip problems since when you're pg your ligaments loosen up and it's a good time to CAREFULLY readjust your body's alignment.Sometimes it's easier to do good things for your body when pregnant 'cause it's not for just you, KWIM?

ITA Bytsi. And on the timing for the summit. People have timed pregnancies for far less compelling reasons.

You're going to be an amazing mom, whenever it happens. I can tell.

Farmwork & chores, of course! My kids are SURE I only had 'em so I could sit on the couch and eat bon bons while they slave away doing horrible things like emptying the dishwasher or bringing in the mail...

is that how you get the mail into the house? Cuz we've got a huge amount of stuff in the box, I'm sure… but it's all the way down there and car that can pull up to it for a drive by was totaled 2 months ago. I've been wondering how we're gonna get our mail out. Now we know!

I don't know how I missed this post... Thanks Elisabeth...I hope to be as good a mom as mine was. And from what you said about your SIL, I have hope that I can still be healthy and even lose during, and long as it's safely and ok with the docs!! I'm not freaking out as much about this...my main concern now is gonna be my knees, I know that 310 is the tipping point for them in terms of pain, so I'll just have to get far enough under 300 to be ok!! Which is totally doable before next year's summit. Cause yeah...it'd be nice to be preggers after the summit...

To a point they are good for that. But, it's balanced out a bit by the complaining they do about having to do chores at all. And it takes a while to get them to the point where they can do anything.

Today's Workout:

BB Bench Press
Bar x 10
65lbs x 10
95lbs x 10
115lbs x 5
125lbs x 5
135lbs x 1!!!

Leg Press
90lbs x 25
180lbs x 25
270lbs x 25

20mins elliptical
10mins stretching hip flexors (they have been a BITCH lately)

I was SOOOO PSYCHED about the 135lb BB Press!! I had my hubby there to spot me so it was fun! All I keep thinking tho is if I hadn't done 10 if the lighter ones...I'd have been able to pull more of the 135's or maybe more weight overall...next time we'll see...........
