Sounds like a NOMMY cake, to the nth power... sigh... but you're right - rationalizing sugar-covered icing-coated fruit as "fruit" is how we got in this situation (needing to lose) in the first place... sigh...

I am on a rant about this subject matter myself last day or so. And it seems to always be pepople who are obese doing this. It is almost like they want to share thier unheatlhiness with the rest of the world. Then I remember when I was obese that I brought baked goods and other nummies into the office to share with everyone. Food is the thing that gives us comfort so we want to share that with our friends. I did not even think about it being not healthy or a temptation to others.

I still want to kill them now though when I am carb craving.

It really annoys me because he is all holier than thou now that he's had his surgery. Beforehand, he'd eat everything in sight, and now it's like...haha...I had my surgery and I'm all fixed now here's some cake for you. Meanwhile he's already gaining back his weight cause he eats cookies and carbs all day. I NEVER see him eat veggies or lean protein..he's too stubborn. Plus, he hates exercising. Part of me is so evil I'm smiling inside because he'll gain it all back and I'll be getting to my goal weight while he does.

He is always making offhanded comments suggesting that I too should go for the surgery. And because I know him and I know how he is I always make some comment back abot not being lazy enough to do that kind of thing. Because in his case...it was pure laziness.

ARRRRGGGGGH. So today there are cookies...I am so glad I am outta here in an hour for my boxing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should just let him know he shouldn't f*%k wit yoo cuz you can totally kick is ass.
Just remember that other people have no bearing on your control of yourself. If they don't "get it" then that's their loss.

I find it frustrating sometimes, and the evil me comes out a lot (um, really? no way!) and yet I usually just end up with this sad pity for people. We all come to our own realizations in our own time. It is not yet his. Hell, it may never come. It's too bad, because life is beautiful if you are willing to go ahead and actually live it.
But it does take huge gorilla balls.

theAoide is right, as usual...

I am finally learning how to have control over myself...something I struggled with a lot, in many ways. Control, and also learning how/when to let go and let it out...or...let someone have it...when they deserve it...

Gonna go work on the gorilla balls part...lolz

Also it is now 12:35 my time and I have NOT eaten A COOKIE and I have also not eaten a MUFFIN or STOOPID LEFTOVER BIRFDAY CAKE. So there. I win. And the prize is my ass....SMALLER. *nya nya*

Watch it there. That is one thing that we don't want to get too much smaller. But I'm proud of you for resisting the cookies and muffins.

I'm so glad I don't work in a regular office. I HATE when people bring that crap in. My coworker makes sugarfree chocolate chip cookies all the time, but I don't like splenda so hahahha none for me, thanks!

Good on you for not caving into temptation. It's hard when there's that much crap around you, for sure.

Thanks Tina! And yeah, I hate offices like this for that reason...plus...I wish I did something where I was moving around more. I hate sitting in my chair all day...RAWR. There are only so many excuses I can make for getting up.

Nice job not giving in to the cookies, muffins or cake, Kristen!

When I did work in the office, I always knew I could get rid of things like leftover Halloween or Easter candy in a snap!! Just take it in and put it in the break room and voila - gone!!!

I used to work a lot with bariatric patients (pre- and post-op) and I could usually tell who was going to be successful or not. The ones who you knew would NEVER exercise and who ate crap and thought this was a magic cure-all - they usually had slow losses and hit plateaus or regained pretty quickly... It's amazing how much you can stretch out even a roux en y (stomach-staple) afterwards by over-eating. Just look at the guy on Biggest Loser - he had bari surgery and regained it all...

It's kinda sad - the risk is high on that procedure and the results don't last if you don't change your life.

They had to go on a severe restriction (bars and shakes) diet for a month before surgery, to prove to the insurance companies and doctors that they could really stick to a diet. Many lost 30# or more doing that. I always wanted to say "so why don't you KEEP doing that and skip the surgery?"

You can "easily" do it for a month. You can tough it out. But with so much to lose, it seems an insurmountable mountain. So, unless you commit on a deeper level, you don't get there. Surgery or no.

And I understand the people who "get it" but do want the surgery to have their own "get in and get out" strategy. That makes sense. If I could get me some pixie dust and melt the 40 I've gained from school and inactivity I'd totally take it. I don't see the inherent "value" of working for it, necessarily. Not when you consider "working for it" has people spinning their wheels in misery for veritable eons. Feeling you're entitled to something because you worked for it is still feeling entitled. But the "long way" does help you learn some crap that will help you for life, assuming you manage to figure out what to do without all that wheel spinning.

It's sad...to think that people would take that risk...and gamble with their lives, and then not take it seriously. If it were me, I'd do well...but I am not willing to take the risk. And I always feel like...if you can do it beforehand...you are capable or doing it. It just frustrates me.

I wish I could do it without the wheel spinning, but things coming too easily for me are taken for granted. I want to work for this, and if it takes me a little longer, and I learn more along the way, I will be more inclined to keep it off. And then I will have the tools to keep my kids from having to do it too. Hopefully!!!

I saw something on Berdardi's site where they were talking about splenda. Apparently it changes the flora in the gut.

Today's Weight:

308.6

Well...on the way down I suppose. Faster would be nicer but I'll take it nonetheless! Just got over a nasty dizzy spell awhile ago...I'm thinking since I'm due for a B12 shot next week I'll check in with the doc about the dizzies, since I do occasionally get them lately. I'm guessing my iron etc isn't gonna just miraculously got back up...so maybe still a little low. Sucks tho...all of a sudden all the color goes from my face and I feel like doodies...not my favorite thing... Anyway...over now...back to work!

Interesting...I tried Splenda for awhile but my body didn't really like it much. After awhile I got the tinglies like an allergic drug reaction. So....I stopped using it!

Soooo...long story short my mom LOVED dragonflies, and I LOVE frogs, so whenever people see something with a dragonfly or a frog on it, they usually buy it for me. (I have quite a collection) Well...I saw these in the LLBean catalog and couldn't help myself....I don't think I've ever ordered from them...but I had to in this case these were too perfect!!!
