Happy Hanukkah Bytsi!

Sorry the end of your job was not good. But you will find a good fit for you. I'm ready for the holidays to be over. Only 4 more days to a new year!

Hee hee! Nice deadlifts! Did you do that on purpose just to beat me?! (j/k) Nice workout--I'm on rest week and it's driving me CRAZY!

LOL, this weather is NUTS! My H was up on a ladder at 9pm last night trying to cut a branch that was hitting the side of the roof and making awful (dying bird-like) sounds in the wind...

Hey Paula - thanks! I am not going to rush into the wrong job -- even the one I interviewed for, I might not end up taking (IF they even want me)... we'll see... I have to figure a lot of things out so I can find the right fit for me.

LOL Celeste! Nah, I couldn't top your deadlifts cuz if you do it by ratio of bodyweight to weight lifted, you kick my ass! But I do want to think about trying 200 next time - just to see if I can

So... after that tough class in the morning, I had a LOT of food issues - I guess Leigh is right about hunger stimulation, eh? Anyway, I held out pretty well, and then around 9pm I fell into a box of H's granola cereal. I didn't even LIKE it that much!!!!! sigh... I was just SO SO SO SO SO hungry (and realized my protein was kinda low too, so I also ate some tuna)... sigh...

Yay for a workout! I'm with you in spirit! (I did round pen Wyatt today, and since our round pen is a little big, I did get in a 15-20 min jog...)

And yeah, 200# would be very cool--I bet you can do it.

You ladies have sparked a dormant competitive streak in me. I was at the gym today training a client and I had her going for her 1RM deadlift...and I had to try in between her tries. She made 190 (at 234 lbs.--but she's only started dl'ing since she started training with me in September). I made 175 and my next attempt was at 185...I failed. But I never tried for anything between the two. I'm working on it. Still, last time I went to gym specifically to record my 1RM's on the three lifts I maxed at 160, so at least it is improvement. Anyway, my client was really excited and really wants to get into building her strength. I love that!

Thanks Diane - right back at ya!!!

So... I'm a EXCITED! I went and toured the other gym that just built their big expansion and WOW!!!! They have FOUR Oly platforms, bumper plates, kettlebells, 5 or 6 squat racks, etc etc etc... they even have an indoor turf for sports training. All their cardio machines have personal screens with dvd players so you can bring your own movies AND they own a bod pod! I signed up

I get a free session with a trainer, so I requested the oly guy (Jason). He is a CSCS and former competitive strongman, so I'm excited. Weds afternoon!!! I said I want to try Oly lifts with him, so the training coordinator is going to tell him about me. They also said "he HATES machines" (my kinda guy!)

I didn't schedule the bod pod yet, but I will - maybe in the next week or so, to get a starting # for the challenge. I just have to psych myself up for "it's just a number" if it sucks .

And today, a workout:

Warmup, then
Jump Squats - 4x5 bw

Squats - 4 @ 95#, 2x4 @ 105#, 1x 3.5 @ 110#. Yes, that's 3.5. On the 4th, I bottomed and GM'd out badly, so I tried again. Then I got stuck and bounced my way out of the hole (about 3 bounces). UGH!!!! My spotter had no idea what to do (yeah, I need to train him better) so I was just glad not to come out of it injured! I guess I found my max weight for deep (not ATG - yet, but deep) squats!

Back Extension - 3x12 bw

Bench Press - 4x4 @ 115#

1-arm cable row - 4x4 (e) @ 60#

Shoulder Press - 4x4 @ 60#

Chinups / Pullups - Chins - 7, Pullups - 3, Assisted Chins - 6, Assisted Pullups - 6

Done!!

Karate later

So so jealous...

Meanwhile at my gym everyone and their uncle was out tonight. So much for waiting til after the New Year for resolutions. I might be doing some workouts at home this next month until after the newbies give up. At least the weight room is relatively unchanged.

That's the ONLY good thing about the Resolution gym-goers - they hog the cardio but not weights - and when they DO go to the free weights, they are so entertaining

No time tonight to play catchup on logs, but I hope to get that done tomorrow... it's not a chore, but sometimes I feel guilty when I don't read what everyone's been up to

Thanks Celeste & Julie!

Unfortunately, I woke up sick this morning. My stomach is a mess, I haven't been more than 5 feet from the bathroom all morning, and I might have a fever (or just feel crappy?)... So... I may end up postponing the Oly session til next week cuz I don't want to go tomorrow if I'm not 100% - waiting til this afternoon to decide...

Which leads to my other dilemna. Today (at 1) is the day I'm supposed to go in and take care of those last 2 clients... but I am actually sick, not faking... but I'm afraid if I call in, they'll think I'm faking or something. I don't want to let them down, but... if I don't stop running to the bathroom in the next 30 minutes or so, I'm going to have to cancel.

Damn it.

At least I'm not hungry. Even the thought of food makes me worse.

So I'm just sitting here (in my workout clothes cuz I tried getting dressed to see if I felt better - nope, didn't work)... bleh... blargh...

Wow, Bytsi, that sounds like an absolute dream gym. So that is what a Powerhouse gym is like? I actually have not heard anything about them, but I noticed there is one a few miles from my parents' house and was curious. That is a two hour drive for me unless I move back in with my parents, LOL. Maybe next time I am down there I will check it out.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I hope you're feeling better in time to celebrate the New Year.

Hiya, Bytsi --

Sorry it's been so long since I've been in here. Glad to hear the news about the gym -- exciting stuff, IF you get to feeling better!

Hope the day turned out better than it started!

Bytsi, you're saved by the bell.. err I mean, if you hadn't been sick we would no longer have been on speaking terms . I'm that jealous of that new gym of yours!

J/k of course. Now, what happened yesterday? Hopefully you did call and cancelled the appointment? Are you better yet?
