Well given the way you've been treated, not going in on those days wouldn't be surprising.
Well, here's the thing - the people (person) I have issues with isn't the one who'd pay for me not going in, so...
I was talking to a really sweet guy here, saying goodbye, mentioned the schedule, and he had an idea so simple and brilliant that I feel STOOPID for not thinking of it myself:
The appointments were originally scheduled to fit into my work schedule. Moot point - no more work schedule. So I called the department, got the 3 phone #s of the patients I have to see, and moved their appointments to Tuesday the 30th in the afternoon. DUH!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe I didn't think of that option
So now I can sleep in on New Year's Eve and not go in at all Xmas Eve, etc etc... And not one of them had any problem with the schedule change
Wow... I feel like such a moron for not thinking of that - but I'm sure glad SOMEONE thought of it!
BTW - had my "exit" meeting with my boss. AWKWARD!!!!! We just sat there, summed up any ongoing projects, etc... then said "ok, well..." and "well... bye..." and that was about it. No thanks, no love lost... I do have to come in one more time because my yearly performance eval (which was due in October) is still not done and if it's going in my permanent record, I want to see it. So I'll come in to meet and go over it. I wonder if I'll still get the retroactive raise I was/am due from it...
Glad you got your appointments switched around. I am surprised that none of us here suggested it. Ah well, you move on, almost certainly to better things. And on that retroactive raise, don't count on it (not that I think you were). I was the same once, overdue for one, and even offered a raise to stay. If she'd actually pushed through both, who knows - maybe I would have changed my mind. (Nah)
Raise to get you to stay is an empty gesture. 99 times out of 100, you're not leaving cuz of the cash. And if it takes you leaving before they'd wisen up and give you better pay, you should leave anyway.

You're right, I likely wouldn't have stayed. Although at the time I was commuting a fair distance for low pay. If she'd given me the raise months before I might have been more likely to stay. By the time I gave notice, it probably wouldn't have made a difference.
And I can't believe one of us didn't think of it for you! We do love to meddle--missed a perfect opportunity!
Sorry work is so stressful, good (? sorta) that it's going to be done soon. At least you'll be free for a while.
Free at last, free at last...

Yes - a big WHEW on that one!
Anne, Aoife, Tracey - I wasn't implying that I wanted a raise to stay or anything - just that I was owed my yearly raise back in October, and I find it kinda amusing / ironic that I have to come back to get my review... I was just being goofy wondering if the raise would still go through...
So... today - 141, but I'm sure it's back up after the rest of the day
First, I lifted - mostly 3x10s and 3x12s...
Rear lunges off step w/ 40# barbell on my back, 3x12 (e)
Back extensions 3x12 bw
Chinups / Pullups - did 5 pullups bw to start, then mix of chins and pulls with and without stretch band
Then I came home and baked and baked and baked... warning: food pron coming soon... I made 6 batches of cookies: lemon drops with orange bits, fruitcake cookies, almond joy gooey brownies, caramel bars, pudding drops with sprinkles, and a ruined batch of crackerjack cookies.
Here's the trays with the 5 good ones on 'em:
And here's the ruined ones. I don't know if I copied the recipe wrong or what, but they looked good at the start, then melted into a giant puddle on the parchment. It's most visible in the pic on the bottom left... They tasted good if you scraped bits of 'em off, but they completely disintegrated and weren't salvageable
I licked, tasted, nibbled and generally ate whatever while I was baking. YUM!!!! No calorie counts or logs on this one... but then again, after breakfast, all I had was a can of plain tuna and the cookies... I doubt I'll eat anything else except a light dinner.
I was making a general comment. It was in regards to post above me, not you, dearie. And it was because I know plenty of people who get that last minute "if you stay" raise prop, and never once has someone said yes.
Wow. I missed a lot in the last week! Glad to hear about your interview. Sorry to hear about your job, although it seems like it's not a bad thing.
All the sweets look delicious! I don't know how all of you baker do it.
That's why I did my baking on a 'no plan / no limit' week. I can't keep myself from picking at the ingredients while I bake. Once they're done I can usually stay away from them. But I can't stop myself from, say, popping a pecan in my mouth while chopping them. The cookies look good.
I'm going to be heading down to Mom and Dad's house on Monday to help Mom whip up some cookies - not sure how many different kinds we'll end up making.
Sorry your job ended in such a crappy way, but its over now - yeah!!!! Try to enjoy your time off. A few years ago I hated my job so much I just quit with nothing else lined up. I couldn't find another job in my field for nine months, although I did work at a call center part time for $9 an hour. Sometimes it was really hard not to stress about money, but I had so much time to run and lift and get enough sleep and do things I like. I hope you can relax some and do your things.

Miss a week, and you miss a lot... that's the logo of something - a newspaper maybe? LOL!

So EVERYONE loves cookies and makes more, eh?
We got TWO more trays of cookies from friends yesterday - I handed ours over and they handed theirs right back! Yikes!

Thanks Leah - I'm definitely looking forward to more workout time, a least for now...
So yesterday was our karate open house / holiday party and I ate cookies. Again. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Weight today 143.
But, I had a good workout - tmill intervals, same as last time, 20 min going from 5.2 to 7, then 30 second sprints of 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5. Then did 30 min incline walk with HR around 70%... felt GOOOOOOD!!!
Back tonight, I hope, to catch up on posts and logs...
We got shortbread cookies with chocolate dots ontop from traderjoes. I had one yesterday, and one today. They beacon, I resist. Resistance is not futile. Or so I tell myself.
Wow, it's been quite a whirlwind in here. I'm glad you don't have to work there anymore, even if they did it in the lamest way possible! I hope you are able to get a job you are happy with and you're not just doing to do it!
Those cookies look great Bytsi! Mmmm! We made some yesterday as well and oh goodness do I love to nibble while I bake, haha. Glad you were able to switch your appointments btw, that's great!
Bytsi, I'm glad you were able to reschedule your appointments. Sorry that your work wrap-up is so difficult.
The cookies that worked looked great--I totally sympathize with the unsalvageable ones as I have a batch of those every year where I miss what is clearly the most important thing .
Bytsi, just getting caught up a bit. Those cookies look killer. Seeing your cookies reminded me of a conversation I had with my mother this morning. She told me she baked cookies to send to my daughter's up in Oregon, but she keeps eating them, baking more then eating those. She's not sure she'll have anything to send at all and is thinking maybe in time for New Year's. She is my natural mother without a doubt...I mean, if I ever wondered for a moment if I was adopted...but then I have her knees, so not really but you know what I mean.
I made cookies all day Saturday with my sister at my mom's - managed to leave all but a mixed dozen or so up there - won't see them again until Thursday.

Cookies = evil. Mine are posessed... they keep calling my name.

Some nice intervals on the treadmill there. It helps make the time go faster when I switch up the speeds.
I am SO ready for the holidays to be over. Between my kid's bdays and xmas and New Year's eve, I'm gonna be lucky to come out of it without gaining 10#!!!

I'm looking forward to it as well... wish I knew where the road was leading, but the journey's the thing, isn't it...

LOL. The messed up batch tasted SO good (while I was peeling bits and piece off the parchment) so it's probably GOOD that I don't have those around!

LOL! At least I did get my trays done... I just didn't fill them enough to get rid of all the extras. AND half the people I gave trays to returned the favor with trays of cookies that they baked!

Good work in here Bytsi !
Thanks Lisa! A dozen is better than the counter-full we have here...
So... 141 this morning, but I don't think it'll last. On the other hand, I put on these cute black corduroy pants that were quite snug last year, and they're downright baggy now, so I guess not ALL is lost... just feels like it sometimes with all the COOKIES.
Workout this morning: decided to make up my own version of a circuit / metabolic thingy...
First, did chins and pulls (I don't recall all the numbers, but I won't hit 10 for chinups this year).
Then - took an Oly bar and:
-Did a burpee/pushup, got up and
-Mini-rack-pull (aka lifted the bar into my hands )
-Deadlift but started standing and holding the bar since had no plates on it.
-RDL
-Bent row in middle of RDL
-Clean
-Front Squat
-Overhead Press.
Lower bar, repeat 5 times. Rest. Five times through circuit = 25 reps total.
DONE.
--- the weight was too light for the majority of the moves, but I didn't want to increase it for the clean or press, and it did get a little heavier by the end... definitely out of breath and tired... I'll have to ponder this / read other logs to refine the technique.
WAS going to karate tonight, but the heat broke and Sensei called to say it was only 30 degrees in the dojo - yikes! No karate tonight.
So, quick check-in. Weight back to 143. Up down up down bleh. I think it's a combination of salt, cookies, and just plain not being at much of a deficit overall... My weight chart looks like an EKG lately!
Good workout today - did my tmill interval run thingy up to 9.5 again for 30 min, then 20 min incline walk. HR stayed around 75% for the 20 min incline...
Planning to try the holiday boot camp class tomorrow at the gym. It's run by a very young (20-ish?) ex Marine... hmmmmm...
SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE THE COOKIES STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
