I would love to have laser removal for the bikini line, that would be fantastic! However, unlikely

Bytsi - the trends look good. Just remember that slow and steady leads to more "permanent" weight loss, which is what's important. You are moving in the right direction, and that's what matters!

Thanks for that reassurance Jes... but I do want more than 1#/month (and yeah, I know... prolly did lose more than 1 this month - just weighed-in a week early PLUS TTOTM...).

Ok - just gonna do goals - I can always adjust 'em...

1. Weight: Starting challenge at 145.5# (as per home this morning). Goal weight is 135#. If I hit it early (!!!) I'll see if I'm happy there and adjust if needed.

2. Foam Rolling / Stretching: I always run out of time, blow it off... so no more. Foam roll and stretch (real stretch, not "on the run") AT LEAST 3 days/week.

3. Chin ups & Pull ups: Start: 2.75 chin-ups, no pull-ups. Goal: 10 chin-ups and at least 1 real pull-up.

4. Diet: Compliance in general is not an issue, and I track religiously. But I have unplanned refeeds and I want to learn more flexibility so that I can segue into maintenance at some point in the near future and be successful this time. I will schedule and comply with one FULL WEEK refeed (at maintenance or above) before end of the challenge. I will learn to incorporate some treat meals (at least one) into the week. This will also help to decrease the frequency of my unplanned refeeds. Finish reading Lyle's "Flexible Diet" book as guide to this.

5. Rest days: Take at least one FULL rest day every week. This means I can't count a karate-only day as a day off just because it wasn't at a gym. Take at least one week off from lifting every 12 weeks.

6. Karate: Train for and prepare well for Ik Kyu test in November (third and last level of brown belt before I can test for Black. Black belt test will be summer '09 IF I pass my Ik Kyu test). Pass test! Specific goals for testing for me: focus on allowing myself to be thrown and fall / land without getting tense. Continue process of letting go of my fear of injury. I have improved a lot in this area, but my journey is not complete.

Bytsi, your goals sound well thought out and challenging yet attainable. I didn't list a weight goal, but I'm hoping to lose about 10# also, depending on muscle gain. And your chinup goal inspired me--I included that in my goals also! Good luck on reaching your aspirations!

Thanks Celeste!!!

I went to the mall after work... actually found 2 bikinis (and tons of AWFUL ones). Doesn't anyone have a bikini that supports a full chest???? I bought 2 (both returnable)... One is ok, but not sure I'd ever really wear it in public - but marked WAY down on sale. Other was nicer, fits pretty well, lots of support on top and a fuller bottom (which helps me with my big belly) but VERY pricey...

I think I'll hit one or 2 more malls over the weekend, but if I give up on the search, I will choose one of the 2 I got and use that, at least for the challenge. Probably the cheaper one... and return the other.

I also told DH I want to go for a hike this weekend (in my red shoes!) as one of my workouts, so we are going probably Sat. morning...

Good luck with the continuing bikini shopping... I actually found a "bottom" today for $3 that will work.... couldn't find a top to go with it, but I'll just use a sports bra I guess. The selection was horrible!

This morning - weight 145... maybe could even call it 144.5, but the little bubble wasn't quite in the lines when I slid down that 1/2#...

Stage 6 A3

Chin ups: 3 bw . 3 sets negatives 19 sec, 15 sec, 11 sec (grip slipped).

Underhand lat pull downs: 3x2 @ 140#, 7x2 @ 130#. That 30 second rest really killed me!

Split Squats: 2x10 @ 45#. Form maybe improving?

Pushups: Used "perfect pushup" again - fun! 1x15, 1x10. That thing is TOUGH!!!

No cardio cuz... just cuz. Will walk a bunch today, have big hike planned tomorrow, and will also do cardio Sunday (probably tmill).

Going to the other big mall after lunch to give one last bikini search...

Hi bytsi- I love your journal. It's been very inspriing to read your journey so far.
I just bought a body bugg...did you experience any issue with the bugg NOT registering steps per day? Mine isn't and I also don't see an increase in the number of calories burned per minute during my cardio time. Just curious if it was operator error...Thanks!

Thanks on the congrats... but Anne - I think 3 to 10 is a BIG difference! Also getting my first ever pullup will be a big challenge... so no adjustment on goals

Thanks Z! I had no prob with the Bugg other than one isolated day when it seemed to sleep through a walk I took... I'd call them - their tech is closed weekends, but was helpful when I called...

Today - HIKE!!! Whooot!!! Fun
Went out in my new trail shooz for just over 2 hours in the woods... So pretty... burned lotsa cals according to the bugg (about 550?)... I was talking to DH (who went with me) about how I love to workout for the sake of working out BUT I want to learn to also enjoy active things more... We picked up 2 walking sticks at the store (with nice grips) and they helped a LOT with my fear of falling off a rock ... Also nice to have for the steep parts...
Took a few pics... (ALSO did my pics for the challenge - next post...)

Pics - will add to challenge without the comparison, but here's with comparison from April to today. I see differences . DH took 'em so not great but better than my DIY attempts...

The bikini - DON'T LAUGH. It was $20 on clearance at Marshall's and it has the support I need for the girls ... but it also has bling / sequins and crap ALL over the boobs... ROTFL... but it fits and is cheap, so there it is. When we were in line to pay, this old lady with TONS of makeup and super-bright flashy tacky clothes saw it and started gushing about what a gorgeous swimsuit it was - I almost put it back when she did that . Anyway... here are the pics... thumbnails cuz I can't ever get 'em to show up large...

Bytsi, it's better if you host your pics somewhere and link to them instead of attaching them.

Great progress in the shots.

The bikini though... it's bad enough someone thought it up, and some company decided they should make it. Although I figure in a 2-dimensional design nobody quite realised how bad it would be. You do have to wonder about women who did buy it to wear in public though.

Looks like I popped in at the right time! You look AMAZING, Bytsi! And, you're doing so much - you've always been strong, but MAN! I'm feeling so happy for you! And, you're almost at goal... wow. Girl, you make that bikini happy. Wonderful.

I agree on all counts - great progress, nice job on the chin-ups, and LOVE the bikini top. Especially the placement of the star-shaped sparklies... are those supposed to be sand dollars? In any case, well done.

Thanks to all for the compliments... and ROTFL about the bikini top - glad to see we ALL agree it's awful. But all the others I tried on just didn't have 40-year-old-DD-cup support, except the one from Nordstrom that was well over $100 - and I am NOT spending that, not even to avoid nasty sequins on my boobs. Maybe I can use the suit to moonlight as a stripper .

Got plenty of NEAT in addition to the hike this morning... then ate dinner at Cheesecake Factory . I had ONE piece of bread, a lovely salad (from the appetizer section, so small-ish, with no cheese, extra chicken, and vinaigrette dressing), and then shared the strawberry shortcake with DH and DS. YUM!!!! (and I still ended up ok on overal cals for the day, although a bit lower on protein than I'd usually like).

One other thing I forgot to mention - TOTAL weight difference so far (between the 2 pics) is 7#. I guess the scale isn't the end-all be-all of progress

Hey Kristen - thanks for the compliment... I don't know if I'll EVER feel comfortable or "good" in a bikini (especially that one ) - it blows my mind that anyone even thinks I look ok in it... but having been heavier in the past (I started out 11 years ago wearing Lane Bryant clothes) and still not happy with my weight / body, I don't know if I'll ever be ok with how I look. I still see the same "fat girl" (hate that term) in the mirror... I guess we all have demons and issues...

Laser hair removal is teh awsym! BUT it hurts SOOOO freakin' bad while they do it (and you have to go 6-8 times, about 6 weeks apart, so it takes nearly a year)... Still, yeah... if you are pale with dark hair then it's amazing.

You said in my log that the difference in those pictures is SEVEN POUNDS?? That's honestly amazing, Bytsi. Isn't body recomposition fun?

Yeah... SEVEN pounds down... I still think the different suit has something to do with it too (despite the sequins )... That other one was SO tight, it really squeezed stuff in a bad way, ya know? Still - it's not ALL in the suit... there are improvements .

Today: 40 min run/walk outdoors. Mostly run!!! I forced myself to go back to a walk any time I was feeling at all tired or any leg / hip / knee discomfort... I had planned to alternate 1 min walk/run like I do on the tmill, but it just felt good to jog (at a slow pace), so I did. Then 25 min bike with DH and DS... Oh - and a stop at Starbux after the run .

Working on goals: came home after biking and foam-rolled and stretched...

HA! Love that bikini top! Priceless on the lady at the store who loved it. 7 pounds and some shifting of weight makes all the difference in the world! You look great!

Hey, Bytsi --

You're making great progress toward your goals!

I'm particularly impressed with the chinups. Way to go!

Chinups / pullups are my "Eleanor". (Extra points if you can name the movie reference.)

Keep it up!

I'm a little late tot the party, but I wanted to say that your pics are awesome! It's amazing how much a) 7lbs makes a huge difference and b) how much body composition has to do with it. You look great and should be really proud of how far you have come!

Also, I was thinking that maybe you could do a fitness competition in the suit one day. You can just add to the existing sequins
