I totally do this! You will be fine because last night is still on your mind. Enjoy the rest of your weekend
Thanks Jes -actully I've been SO busy today, and really active, so I'm down on calories heading into the party anyway

Double!!
So... went biking with DH and DS. About 45 min at a pretty good pace, and I rode up the hills even when I wanted to die!
At the end, I realized my old (mostly unused for the past 3 years) bike just doesn't fit me well and I don't like it anymore... So... kill the budget, but we went to the bike shop. What I love is that my DD (who is 16 and usually isn't interested in much to do with us) came and also wanted a bike (she hasn't ridden in years - her last bike was a kid-size bike!). So MAJOR budget-killer, but she got a cute Cannondale mountain bike and I got
It's SO quick and light. I had them put a bigger cushiony "old lady" seat on it for my sore tush and then it's hopefully perfect! Can't wait to ride again tomorrow, and DD is even willing to come try out her new wheels !!
Prolly spent too much, but it's an investment in health and fitness, so we decided it's worth it.
Bytsi, enjoy the bike. I've been loving bike riding with the kids lately. Best of luck with the neighborhood party. DD's birthday is today and we're having pizza (one slice for me with a big salad), cake (not me) and ice cream (0.5 cup). I managed not to overeat yesterday and I am NOT going to ruin it today (I tell myself in a firm voice ). Anyway, just wanted to let you know I'm rooting for you to stick to your plan tonight!

I did ok at the party... actually pretty darn good considering what I COULD have done. Got quite a few comments on my "healthy" plate, but whatever... they all make choices just like we do, right? I had tons of edamame (YUM!), some shrimp, carrots, just a couple bites of chips with dip and a small dessert. Water only to drink. By my logging, I actually hit almost exactly 1500 kcal today. So even allowing for not knowing what was in everything I ate, I figure I'm WELL under 2000 kcal and I exercise and moved a LOT. Thank goodness the holiday weekend is over soon!

Thanks - party was fun, although we left pretty early (we're just no fun ). The bike is a Trek. Actually my old one was too, but it just wasn't the right bike for me... I'll know more when I really take it for a spin tomorrow, but I'm excited!

Thanks Pauline!
I got an email reply from the ebayer I bought the bodybugg from... she didn't mail it til late Weds, so at EARLIEST it might get here Monday... sigh... I paid Sunday, so I had kinda hoped she'd run right out Monday and mailed it, but... oh well... it's on its way.
That's so awesome about the bike! I'm excited for you. I've been wanting to get out and bike, but we don't really have the neighborhood for hit. We can drive to a really cool place to bike, so I'm going to look into. Enjoy!
Hi Bytsi -
Thanks for stopping by my log. I am really impressed with the weights you are using. Hopefully I'll get there.
Glad you were able to be "good" at the party. I have a art show/birthday party to go to this Friday. I'm hoping I'll be able to make a healthy plate while there but I need to be concerned with the amount of alcohol I know will be flowing. I use to bartend with the artist and I know a bunch of us ,ex/current bartenders, will be there trying to get others to taste their latest concoction!
Jes - we don't have great biking around here - we drove to a hike 'n' bike trail to ride... Quite a workout just wrestling all the bikes onto the racks!
Josie - I don't drink, but just plan ahead. One good "tip" is to alternate water or club soda with drinks, so they are a bit more spread out (and calories / alcohol consumed at half-pace)... Good luck!
Bytsi, I live practically right on the bike trail....I walk the bike trail to the AGMC wellness center! I'm going to get a bike soon and you should come over and we could ride!

Ooooh Fun!!!!! I'm not a very strong biker (read: wobbly ), but if you promise not to race me, that'd be great (of course I love to go to Starbux afterwards, which probably doesn't help matters ).
I think I forgot to log my workout yesterday (if you can call it that). I was SORE, went to gym, did 2 min on stairmaster, 10 on arc trainer, 15 on tmill at incline... gave up and went home. Did the biking later, and got some NEAT... shoulda foam rolled, but somehow that didn't get done. ugh.
Holy smokes, I was so behind on your log! I don't even know where to begin so I'll just stick with: Nice bike! I can't wait to find out how the BodyBugg doohickey works for you!
Nice bike! I used to have a Trek back in the day. We have been doing a lot of biking this summer. Even though we didn't get fancy bikes, they have probably been the best investment we have made this summer so far.
Since I don't belong to a gym its so nice to have another cardio option and its something you can do with the family.
Well, Bytsy, as it happens, a new Starbucks is also opening within walking distance from my house!! LOL!
Oooooh!!! Yums!!!!! I'm there!!!!!!!!!

Mostly I love the active family part of it, but another NEAT option is good too!

I hate hearing comments on my "healthy" plate. It makes me really self-conscious. I know people don't mean anything, but it still bothers me.
I'm with you on the Starbucks thing! My drink of choice is a grande nonfat misto, and I treat it as a 70 calorie snack.
Get yourself a bike - you don't have to be stupid and spend as much as we did . And who CARES if someone comments on a healthy plate. The ones who do are usually the ones who are feelin' guilty about their crappy plate full of lard...
HEY!!! Nice bike! This is a very wise investment. In my mind you can pay now or pay later in medical bills. Of course on a bike you can always add medical bills, especially if you are wobbly. You are going to so enjoy this one. I had a TREK FX 7.2 and while it did not fit me, it was certainly a great bike. I can't wait to read all about your rides. I hope DD is appreciative at least.

And for those with bike envy, when my husband and I bought our bikes we spent about $450 total for both. They aren't fancy but for what we use them for they are perfect.
Hey Sid and Bree - thanks for stopping by. We overspent (if you read my log, you might notice a slight tendency to shop ) but you don't have to spend a fortune to have fun... My sore sit-bones will tell you, though, that a properly fitting bike is important !
This morning - S O R E !!!!! I think DOMS is worse with 2/week versus 3/week weights... or else the biking is still hitting me... Did 30 on stairmaster (well, half on stepmill while waiting for stairmaster, then half on stairmaster). HR 75-80%...
Measurements day... for whatever that's worth...
Weight was down 2# from last month (which is slower than I want, but better than up!) Weird chest, hip and thigh measurements - maybe tape placement was screwy? BF% is steadily going in the right direction - I find my friend to be VERY consistent in her measurements, which is nice!

Or to put it another way... I am pretty good with the trending with 7-site calipers. I think to use the bodpod for me now is just to have a different set-point number to work from... not sure it'd gain me much and it might really freak me out if the number is high... so for now - not gonna do it...
I think that is a wise choice hamster friend. You want relative numbers not relevant numbers. So long as you have a consistent way of measuring that is all you need. Bodpods are also known to be off you know.

Nice wheels! I've had to catch up and that's the first thing I remembered when I went to post to you. I wish we had areas that I would feel safe riding, but honestly, that would take loading it up on the back of my car and driving somewhere.......that wouldn't save much gas, would it??? LOL
I can't wait for you to tell us what the Body Bug finds. I hope it makes this journey easier for you to understand!

I find my measurements very inconsistent. It's definitely me though.
The important one is steadily coming down (BF%) and that's the important one in the end. At least I'm assuming it is. So you're making great progress.

Thanks Karla - that means a lot coming from you, as your choices are usually very well thought-out.

I have to load and drive to get decent biking too - I'm doing it more for family time / NEAT...
And I can't wait for the dang bugg either - WHERE IS IT!?!?!?!?

Thanks Anne... I agree - the BF% is most important...
Today - karate is the only planned activity.
Tough waking up this morning... bleh. Overate a bit last night (about 150 kcal over plan ) and some sodium snuck in too (had crockpot chicken with those little white canned potatoes - who knew the taters had tons of sodium!?!?), so scale is icky today. Trying to just ride it out, but it's not easy. I want some DOWN movement!!!
XXXXXXX fingers that the stupid bugg finally shows up today.

Nice bike Bytsi.. I totally need to use mine more. Have fun!
Don't beat yourself up about your eating last night.... it's so easy to misjudge things like those potatoes!
What is the body bugg? I know... I should just go look it up. Never heard of it before.
Have a great day!
Hey Lori - the body bugg is a metabolic "toy" - it has 4 sensors and is pretty accurate at measuring how many calories you actually burn during the day. So you can know when you need to increase activity, or what activity is "worth it", etc etc... or just help figure out what you really can/should be eating!
