Wassup with the crunching hubbies? I'm glad I'm not the only one who just cringes from that sound . Mine will even eat something "quiet" like ice cream or yogurt, then pour crunchy toppings on!!!

Hey Nik - keep on readin' - I'm working on it. The knee? Not from exercise, just from plain ol' normal walking slowly... it's ok today though, so... hmmmmm.

I guess the theme for the day is "men just don't get it" - but at least we're not alone - seems to be happening to lots of us .
Few comments here....LOL!

-Yeah for you getting some REAL rest!! but I know it is hard to get in the habit to rest, just as it is hard to get in a habit to workout and not rest

-My DH is so bad at this that he actually STILLLLLL makes noises while eating soft things like yogurt and pudding!!! No crunchy toppings needed for this kid! haha I seriously don't get it??? It's like a friggin' skill to make noise while eating those??? LOL!!!

-And sorry, needed to clarify that I get those pains in my knee while walking normal too....but I notice they are usually after a HARD workout or after doing something at an incline or 90degree loading (be it Tmill or step ups, or squats, etc...) I am usually glad it's noisy at the gym bc I would cringe at the "crackling" my knees make! I can hear it when I go up and down stairs and it is brutal!
Just me though, may not be your case but I noticed you did step ups and incline treadmill within the last week or so, so it made me think that.
Mine usually goes away after taking advil but that is just bc I hate to ice stuff! ha! I put in WAYYYYY too many hours of icing in our training room in HS and college so I guess I dread it big time!
Glad it is feeling better though

-and you get a huge AMEN SISTER!!! on the "men don't get it comment"!!! haha

Wish mine would make an effort!!! He tends to chew with his mouth open - not wide, but just not lips sealed (which I notice because the chip noises are even LOUDER when he gets careless about it!)... Mostly if I say anything or even sigh, he gets offended and crabby... so I just seethe

I've had the "I overdid it" knee thing plenty of times... this was just SO different because it was so sudden. It was like I tore something or pinched something but there was NO reason for it to happen? Post-exercise aches don't come on so suddenly, ya know? I think Julie was right (THANKS JULIE) that I pinched something and when I finally got the swelling to decrease enough, it released and - relief!!!

Is it 7 yet? It's SO nice out... I'm stuck inside

Glad I popped in to see what you're up to now, Frankenhamster! All these interesting bodily experiments you're doing make for some great reading.

Sorry about your knee, but I'm psyched about your weight loss! Woohoo!

Good news bad news...

The good. I woke up and the scale is down ANOTHER 1# . Total now of 3# (assuming it stays down) since I started being strict a week ago.

The bad. I feel like CRAP . My stomach was iffy when I woke up (dunno why), but I wanted to get my lift in. I thought maybe I'd feel better once I got moving. STUPID. I struggled through the workout, had to lower a few weights, and though I did it, about halfway through I started to wonder if I wouldn't really pay later for my stupidity.

By the time I was done, I felt even worse. I've been mildly nauseated all morning (and it was worse between sets ), I feel like a truck ran over me, I am STILL trying to choke down my PWO (and I finished my workout more than 2 hours ago)... No appetite, just upset stomach, chills/sweats (but no fever) and ache everywhere and exhausted.

Maybe I shoulda skipped the workout today?

I don't think it's necessarily from the diet - probably a bug or something, cuz I've felt really good all week other than this, and yesterday was a rest day...

Today's workout - Stage 4, B2

Front squat push press -- 3x8 @ 55#. Didn't get back to 60# for even one set like last week.

Step-ups -- 3x8 @ 40# (2x20# db's). Dropped from 50#'s. Still sucked.

1-point Row -- 3x8 @ 80# (2x40# db's).

Static Lunge rear foot elevated -- 3x8 @ 40# (2x20# db's).

Pushups -- 3/10 "walking" my hands across a step.

Plank -- 1x20 seconds, realized this was a bad idea and quit.

Horizontal Wood chop -- none.

I should've called in sick to work, but I'm here... maybe I'll leave early...

I feel awful.

Poor thing! I hope you feel better. I know what that's like. Try to take it easy today and get yourself some ginger ale for your stomach. I hope you feel better, and if you still feel bad tomorrow, rest up and try to get better! Hugs!

Hey Bytsi,

I am just checking on your progress. I have stopped logging but I completed Stage 4 A1 yesterday. I am actually taking a break from NROL4W and am going to work on something different now.

Your pics look great!

I'm officially sick. The flu (or whatever this is) SUCKS.

So glad I got that flu shot . Lotsa good that did!

I ended up staying at work for all of 90 minutes before I realized I was so sick and tired that I wasn't sure how I was going to walk out to my car ... by the time I got home, my fever was 100.2 F. I went to bed and dozed on and off for about 4-5 hours (?)... I'm soooooo achey. Now I can't say for sure if it's flu or because I worked out before I realized I HAd the flu .

At least I know why my workout sucked so bad.

No appetite... I managed to drink about 3/4 of my shake before I got home, and then my DD made me two slices of Ezekiel toast. I'm trying to sip on club soda (tastes better than plain water and helps me burp which helps with the upset tum ).

And of course as I was in bed, I was already thinking things like:
-- if I'm ok tomorrow I'll just go do cardio, probably SS...
-- if I'm down for a few days or so, maybe I'll redo the workout from today - or maybe I'll just restart this stage? Or I could redo a stage 1 workout or 2 til I'm up to going back to this stage? There is something really wrong with me if THAT is my obsession when I get sick .

Thanks Tess... what are you going to be doing now?

I'm wish the tylenol would kick in and break my damn fever... so far no luck .

Maybe I can be "one stomach flu away from my goal weight"? (anyone else see "Devil Wears Prada"?).

The worst part is I was supposed to go see "Sex and the City" tonight with my gf and I had to cancel. Waaaaaah!

Awwww, that's awful! I would not worry about a workout tomorrow! And I think maybe redoing today isn't the worst idea you ever had, since it was so hard to get through.
Take it easy a couple of days and get better. You don't want to make yourself sicker.

Aw, man, sorry you're sick.

Now lay down and rest, you mad woman! Forget the workouts -- don't even think about them.

Yep, THAT! ^^^^^^^^

Please don't over do it. You need your rest and fluids and then when you are 100% you can get right back to it.

I'm sorry that you are so sick, Bytsi. Get better soon!

If it makes you feel any better, it's probably not influenza. You'd know if you had the actual flu - you certainly wouldn't be posting.

So, it's probably just some stupid virus that'll come & go in the next couple of days. Then you'll be back on your feet and back in the gym. That is, if you REST and let your body fight off the virus.

Well, I slept most of yesterday (except my brief foray to the 'puter to check in) and about 10 hours last night... I was SOOOO achey, it hurt to just lie there. Woke up feeling MUCH better and NO FEVER!!!! I was around 100.2 almost all day, down to 99.6 (with Tylenol) for a while in the evening... I did eat some dinner finally too...

WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I logged my food (LOL!) even though it wasn't exactly on plan ... actually, I thought about giving in and eating real "comfort" food (like ice cream and chocolate) but I didn't... I had some spaghetti w/ meat sauce that DH threw together for dinner (yum, but of course it was white pasta) and then fruit for dessert...

Today I will be back on track with food.

Wow... I'm thinking ya'll know me too well, all the warnings not to overdo it

I did go to the gym this morning BUT all I did was walk on a tmill at 3mph for 30 minutes... got my HR to a whopping 85 bpm and didn't even breathe hard. Mostly did it cuz I was worried about being stiff from lifting then not moving at all for 24 hours... I even read a magazine while I was walking, so you know there was no intensity!

Assuming I'm fine (and I have no active plans the rest of the day) I think I'll pick up on my regular schedule tomorrow (HIIT followed by SS cardio) and then lift as planned on Monday. I won't redo the same A workout, but I'll probably do an extra workout A or even an extra A&B at the end of stage 4 before going on to 5...

THANK YOU to everyone for the "get well soon" wishes... it worked!!

(Oh - and I got hold of my GF and we can go see "sex and the city" tonight instead - yay!!!!!!!!!! )

Glad you're feeling better (that's definitely a sign that it's not the flu). However, I'll echo what others have told you - take care of yourself. Just because you feel better doesn't mean you're completely well. (This is a do as I say, not as I do kind of warning.)

Glad it wasn't the flu and it seems to be on the wane. I'm admiring your determination to keep planning your program while sick in bed!

Oh and I have an enabling hubby too...whom I scold repeatedly to no avail. Ah well. I've gradually reduced the crap food buying and so he resorts to overeating healthier food. You've never seen a person go through so much peanut butter as this man! LOL

I think I'm fine... but again thank you for all the encouragement - I really DID take it easy today... and I didn't crash and burn at the end so I am back on track - whew!

Sex & the City was WONDERFUL!!! I loved it! We went to a 4pm show (and ate after) and it was crowded in the theater. Everyone applauded at the end... I do think you had to be a fan of the series to love it like I (we) did - my DH said he'd rather die than sit through it (so I left his cranky butt at home)! But I've missed Carrie and the girls so much, loved that show, so it was really really good. If you were a fan of the show, definitely catch the movie .

(now back to our regularly scheduled fitness talk)

Ate well today except one little "treat" (but it's the first one in 9 days and I planned for it - had a light frappucino while out running errands before the movie). Still have 300 kcals left today, gonna eat some oatmeal or fruit and yogurt or something like that for dessert... Yum!

Definitely feeling back to myself...

Today: 5 min warmup, 8x30seconds HIIT on stairmaster, 30-45sec recovery, level 10/3, 5 min "cooldown" (VERY slow stairmaster). HR around 90-95% (165-172) for HIIT. Then walked 5 min to really try to "recover", then 20 min stairmaster SS cardio, HR around 70% (mid 120's).

I'm soaked, wiped-out... no fun doing SS after HIIT, but I wanted to try it... I'm so weird .

Came home, had a yummy strawberry shake (vanilla PP & frozen strawberries with skim milk & ice)... Off to finish running all the errands I didn't get done yesterday.

Tomorrow's plan is weights and karate. Should be interesting... I haven't gone to karate after an NROLW workout before, although I'll have a couple of hours between...

Whew! You are a wild woman. That's a lot of working out! Make sure you get enough cals between your workouts or you won't make it through your karate. I used to do NROL4W the night before Pilates, but not take care of myself and my legs would be jello in class. I think it will be easier the same day, though. Just take it easy the next day!

Measurement day... looking ok... Important parts (waist, abdomen, hips) all going in right direction). I only have right side bicep and thigh cuz that's all we usually do at work and I wasn't thinking ahead...

BF% is good... 7-site calipers done by same skilled person each time...

The weight is slowly creeping down (Google 15 says I'm doing well, and TTOTM is due by the end of the week, so I don't expect the pounds to be good this week. But I will stick with it. I didn't even have dessert last night at my mom's bday dinner (and everyone else did). Took one TINY bite of DH's and just thought "nah - not worth it". Came home and ate a healthy snack and hit cals/macros exactly where I wanted 'em.

LOL!!! I don't know if I'm a wild woman... or a MASTER Hamster . And we'll see how the new schedule goes - this will be the first day at it. I'm just SO optimistic and thrilled if I don't end up having to lift early - I hate lifting early in the morning!!!

The progress looks good, but I wanted to comment on this. It's amazing that how much really isn't worth it. Good job on avoiding that cake. I went to a birthday party in Feb (my mother's 80th) and didn't bother with the cake either. It was a white cake with lots of icing and strawberries and I decided it wasn't worth it. I heard after from my mother that it really wasn't a good cake. I used that memory a couple of weeks ago at a barbecue that also ended with birthday cake, cookies, squares, etc. (a table full of desserts). I've decided that I'll spend my calories on things that I enjoy (and that will be worth it). I'll work on a healthier version of the chocolate zucchini cake that I know I'll end up making when we've got too many of the damn things.
