Pauline, I have to shop the petites department for my mom (she's only 86 pounds). I found some AMAZING deals at Macy's, if you have a Macy's near you.

I love the clearance rack at Ann Taylor Loft. And, it seems like they're always having some sort of sale on the non-clearance too. Good stuff.

Dillard's may have some good deals too if you have one in your area.

I love Macy's. That is all.

Cofession ahead: I have never been able to shop in the petite section, but for some reason, I always browse and end up there. Then, Ilook around nervously to make sure no one is looking at me and wondering what the heck I am doing there. LOL Paranoid much?

Ginger, I do the SAME thing! And, I am always in the petite section shopping for my mom since she can't get out much. I feel like I need to wear a big sign "shopping for my PETITE mom!"

Oh, and I love Macy's, too. I am, embarrassingly, one of their "elite" customers. Don't even ask how I got that distinguished ranking! LOL! And Macy's sales KILL Dillard's sales.

I'm another Macy's gal!!! The only unfortunate thing is the one we have is a good 50 mins. away........so, the gas takes care of any sales I get.....lol

I did hit great sales at J.C. Penney's this week. I got 2 dresses for school, a pair of shorts and a denim skirt for $54!!! I'm happy!

Okay..........back to business in here.......lol

Pauline............Your really making great improvements in your weights. I bet others looked at you walking out of that pet store thinking........Look at that girl go!

Keep up the good work!

And no, I didn't find anything at Ross or Marshall's. I'm going to have to stick with Ann Taylor Loft and the petites at department stores...but that's OK. I plan to check out the clearance rack on a regular basis from now on at ATL.
Very funny, Pauline! I bet he felt unchivalrous all of a sudden...

Me too--the curse of PA maybe? Our closest Macy's is an hour and a half away, in the nearest nice mall. There's a closer one (1 hr away in NY) but still, gas is too expensive and time is too dear to waste the day on a run to the mall lately. I am in the strange position though of having 4 pr of shorts that almost fall off of me and 3 pair that are quite tight (one that was given to me and 2 old "high waisted" ones that look weird anyway). Sigh. Maybe I can search some online sales...

Went to Macy's...didn't find anything. But I did notice that Ann Taylor Loft is having a 70% clearance event. I'll probably go look tomorrow - ran out of time tonight.

I'm up way to late...went to see The Dark Knight with my adult son. The Joker is creepy...excellently acted but creepy.

As you probably already know, Heath Ledger (The Joker) passed away shortly after filming of the movie ended. He was also excellent in The Knight's Tale.

Yes, my son had told me about Ledger's death. I enjoyed Knight's Tale in a Monty Python kind of way.

Congrats on upping your food and the progress you are making with your strength as well!

I did not workout as planned yesterday because our church had a community project workday. We installed a sprinkler system and yesterday we were laying sod on the local publicelementary school's baseball/soccer field. My son, 2 younger daughters, and I arrived at 8:30 AM and we worked until after 4 PM. There were about 50 volunteers in all. The bobcat rolled out these huge rolls of sod and we had to follow behind with metal rakes to pull the rows of sod together snugly, cut off the ends, and then plug in any holes with the end pieces left over. I had actually planned to lift weights after we were done but around noon I scrapped any idea to workout. I was getting enough NEAT to last for a few days!!! Seriously though, I am not sore at all. My muscles all worked hard, but they were up to the task! Thanks, Lou and Alwyn, for a great weight lifting program! And I'm only just finishing Stage 4! Woohoo!!

Wow, what a workout! It's so great to be able to do the things we want to do without killing ourselves or taking two days to recover! I feel the same way--although that story tops my lawn mowing yesterday for sure!

Hi, everyone! I had to share my shopping adventure. I saw that Ann Taylor Loft was having their Ultimate Clearance Sale so I planned to go back soon to check it out. I hopped online and found a coupon for $15 off a $50 purchase that was only good this Sat and Sun., so I dragged dh over there yesterday afternoon in between my Gladys Aylward performances. He actually didn't mind going too much. Anyhow, I found a pair of lightweight navy pants, a short sleeve cranberry red rayon knit top, and my find of the day a 2 button pinstripe blazer that will be great for the fall/winter. It was originally $139 marked down to $25 or as my husband says, with the coupon only $10 - he figures out things differently than I do. But, I added a few basics to my wardrobe without killing the wallet. Can't wait until the new stuff they have in there goes on sale...

That was quite a workout! It feels good to be able to do a day of work and still be able to move the next day. How did the kids do?

I love the sales at ATL. They are the best. I've got a coupon that I'm thinking of using. It's for on-line only though. But, I generally know how their clothes fit me. They're new stuff is really nice! I'm eyeing several pieces myself.

I also like Ann Taylor but usually my wallet doesn't. Glad you found some things!

I have a love/hate thing with Macy's. For most of my life we had a wonderful store called Dayton's here. Then it got bought out by Marshall Fields, and I was sad - it wasn't the same. Then that got bought out by Macy's and it got worse. I don't mind Macy's but its not nearly as nice as when it was Dayton's. The selection and brands have gone way down.

Nobody shops at Kohls's? I love that place!

I just got a pair (then went back and got the second one exactly the same) pair of shorts:

A little demonstration

Cute shorts!
I LOVE Kohls, except they're often sold out of my size (usually a 6, sometimes a 4) when I find something really cute there...

Does Kohls carry 2s and 0s? Cute shorts. I've never been in Kohls though there is one right next to the Sam's I go to all the time. Will have to check them out.

I finally dragged my sorry self to the gym today!

Stage 4 Workout B-3 July 23, 2008

Warm up - 15 minutes on treadmill reading Ender's Game!

Wide-grip deadlift from box Sets 1-2 90/8

Bulgarian Split Squat Sets 1-2 25/8
Underhand-grip lat pulldown Sets 1-2 75/8

Reverse Lunge from box with forward reach Sets 1-2 20e/8
Dumbbell Prone Cuban Snatch Sets 1-2 8e/8 (getting easier!)

Swiss Ball Crunch Sets 1-2 Long-Arm with 10/8
Incline Reverse Crunch Sets 1-2 BW/8
Swiss Ball Side Crunch Sets 1-2/8

Prone Cobra Sets 1-2 120s (will do tonight while watching The Muppets Take Manhattan with the kiddos)

HIIT 15 minutes of laps at the pool - alternating easy laps with swimming as fast as I could laps.

I can't believe I'll finish Stage 4 this week. I plan to go Fri. and Sun. To be honest, I'm not looking forward to the BWM again. I will do one Stage 5 workout and then be gone to a Worship Conference from Wed. to Sat. The hotel has an exercise room and a pool, so maybe I'll be able to get a workout or 2 in...

Look at that deadlift (and lat pulldowns)! Even closer to bodyweight. Nice job.

Natalia-cute shorts! The last thing I managed to find at Kohls was a pair of jeans, which I love. I always have a hard time finding things there though. It seems to be hit or miss for me.

Pauline - Kohl's has some smaller sizes (especially in petite's section) and also a pretty good junior's section if you need smaller sizes...

Thanks, Natalia and Bytsi. Next time I go to Sam's I'll plan some extra time to check Kohl's out.

Thanks, Christina and tcoy! I'm feeling it today. I wanted to ask a question about the lat pulldowns. I did them standing since the weight stack at the seated position didn't have 75 as an option. It went straight to 80. Standing, though, my feet almost left the ground a couple of times! I did use my arms and shoulders to bring the weight down, though, as they are informing me today!
