Well, it's been a crazy week for me. My daughter went back to work so I'm taking care of the grandson a lot more. Getting workouts in has been challenging but it's a lot of fun to have the little guy around. I'll hopefully get a workout in tonight but it may have to wait until tomorrow night.
Tomorrow is "Immigration Day" at my daughter's school. All the 5th graders made passports and are dressing up like immigrants from their chosen country and will process through Ellis Island. I volunteered to help, but I have no idea what I'll be doing.
My husband's work hours are changing yet again - sigh. Back to 3rd shift. We're supposed to go on vacation to a cabin in the mountains of NC next weekend but now we don't know if he'll be able to take the time off in his new position. I'll go with the kids anyway since we're meeting my sister's family there.
We lost power yesterday afternoon from the wind storm that went through. Transformer behind our house blew up. We have a generator, so the 25 gallons of raw milk that was delivered for the co-op yesterday is OK and we did have heat in the house which is always nice.
Well, that's it for me except to say I AM going to the Summit!! Yippee!!
Wow, Pauline, and I thought I had a crazy week! Yippee for sure on going to the summit! Hooray!

My shoulders and upper arms are feeling this workout today!
My daughter sold something to Play It Again Sports (a used sports store). I asked her to check if they had Olympic barbells while she was there. The guy told her he'd give $45 cash OR an $85 store credit, so she took the store credit and gave it to me so I can get an Oly bar with weights, etc. I'm so excited because when my gym membership runs out, I don't think hubby will want me to renew it, so I have to outfit my home gym now to be ready. And even if I do renew the gym, I'll now be able to workout at home when it's yucky outside! Woohoo!!!
One question. My log link was broken and I tried to fix it. Now it takes you to the page but not to the newest posts. Can someone help me?
I can't because I didn't even know that was possible. I don't even know how to change the name to something besides the thread URL or whatever it is. Isn't that awful that I haven't figured that out yet ?
Anyway, what I really wanted to say is very nice workouts! And, YAY on going to the Summit!

The immigration day must have been fun. What a cool idea. I am excited that you're coming to the Summit! BTW, I responded back you in my log re needing a roomie. I actually did accept an offer last week. But thanks...I'm sure there will be a few others still in need. Anyway, I can't believe how many of us are going--it will be so great meeting everyone.
I think if you add (without the quotation marks) "-new-post" to the end of your link, it'll take you to the newest post. But hopefully someone else can confirm that, cuz I'm not very good at the link stuff.

That used to work, not sure if it does anymore.

Nope, it doesn't work any longer. JP mentioned something about getting the old link styles working again before too long but who knows? I drove myself crazy for one whole hour, trying different variations ofthe links to see if I could get the new post thing to work but nope.
Thanks, anyway, folks, for trying to help my broken link thingie.
OK, I just have to share this. May be TMI, but I just have to. Yesterday, my sweet hubby said, "I don't know how to say this because I don't want you to think that I didn't like you the way you were before, but your I love it that you're lifting weights. Your "now" body drives me crazy! I love looking at it. I love touching it...." The rest is definitely TMI. I'll leave it up to your imagination.
I'm out of here to hit the gym - this body needs a workout!

OMG, Pauline, what a sweetheart! That must have been great to hear.

(fwiw, I remember my H saying something MANY years ago when I was fat, about me not going sleeveless because my arms were a bit chubby (and yes, he deserved to be killed for that one) -- but then a couple summers ago, he asked me to leave my jacket behind because my arms are so buff now and I should show them off - little comments like that really go a long way, don't they? )
Oh my, Pauline!!! That certainly is nice to hear, isn't it!!!

What a killer day! I had to pick up school records for Katherine to take to the Charter middle school to apply for next year. When the secretary handed me the packet, it had another kid's name on it. I told her that wasn't Katherine's name and she assured me the name on the outside was just wrong but K's records were inside. It was sealed so I couldn't check. After I drove over to the other school and they opened the envelope - wrong records. So I had to drive back to the first school and get the correct records and drive back to the second school to turn them in. Craziness. Well, that wasted half my morning making me late for work so I had to work longer in the afternoon to finish some projects and head straight to pick the girls from school. Then I had to head back to work to prepare for a meeting which lasted from 6 to 9 PM, so there was no gym time for me. I decided to workout at home since I now have the heavier dumbbells. But I was pretty exhausted.
Medicine Ball V ups Sets 1-3 8#/10
I feel really good about the v ups because when I first began doing them I could barely do body weight ones and now I can do them with an 8# ball almost perfect form!
Love the comments from your husband, Pauline... that's great to hear! My dh rarely says anything to me directly about all the work I've done to lose weight, but I know that he tells guys he works with and his friends about my going to the gym at 4am and the amount of weight I've lost. It always makes me smile to know that he really is proud of me, even though he doesn't come right out and say it.
Sorry you had a rough day... how ridiculous that the school gave you the wrong records! Sounds like a lot of added stress that you didn't need with an already full day!

Ack, it just makes you want to be rude the next time, doesn't it? "Sorry that you put it in the wrong envelope. How long will it take you to type a new envelope?" (and then just stand there) I'll admit that I probably wouldn't have needed the first occasion to do that.
Thanks, everyone, for the sympathetic ear. Crazy bureaucracies!!

That's it. I worked out after midnight and today was a too low cal day due to crazy schedule and lack of time. Tomorrow is my husband's birthday and on Friday we're leaving to go to the mountains for the weekend with my sister's family. I'm excited but not looking forward to the arctic temps predicted.
