I finally dragged myself to the gym. I've been so unmotivated to go out since it's gotten colder. I just want to stay at home by the fire.
Seated rows Set 1 60/12 Set 2 65/12
Face pulls Set 1 40/10 Set 2 45/10
Bent over barbell rows Set 1 55/12 Set 2 65/12
I may have done this weight during NROLFW, but I know my form is better than it was then so I' m counting it as a PR.
Bird dogs Sets 1-2 20 each side
I really concentrated on keeping my back flat and my hips in line.
Today is my one low cal day per week and it's OK. Looking forward to breakfast tomorrow, though! Speaking of tomorrow, it's a big day in our household. My 2 girls are going to start at a "real" school (versus homeschool). This is the first time in 22 years that I won't be homeschooling! We decided, for financial reasons, I must continue working and I simply can't do both. We're putting them in now to get acclimated to the school environment during the easier days before the Christmas break. Then when they go back in January, it won't be getting used to everything all at once. We're planning to give it one semester and see how things go.
Oh, Pauline, I'm sorry you had to make that decision. That really stinks. I know public school is fine for lots of kids, it just must be hard to give up the togetherness, flexibility and lifestyle of homeschooling. I hope you (and they) are doing ok. On the flip side, though, now's a great time to get them acclimated. Do they know any of the kids in their classes?
Thanks, everyone. The first day of school went really well. The girls are excited. They liked their teachers and enjoyed making new friends. One of their neighborhood friends that comes over a lot is actually in Katherine's class, so that was a nice bonus for her.
I'm very pleased with the school environment in our town. SC is a very conservative state, and it is reflected in the elementary schools. There are strict dress and behavior codes which seem to be diligently maintained. All of the children I have had an opportunity to observe on my visits to the school have been very respectful to their teachers and the principal. So overall, it was a good start and we'll see how it pans out.

Today's workout is a combination of exercises I could do at home because I couldn't make it to the gym tonight.
The only thing I found about public school is that I was bored out of my mind the entire time. I usually pick things up very quickly and couldn't understand why it was taking some people all that time to figure out something that seemed easy. I hope that the transition for them goes well.
"As far as (healthy) eating, either do it, or don't. Same issues repeated over and over is just insanity. We either commit to the endeavor or pay lip-service to it. This is the hardest part of the whole process, and it needs to be practiced more than the actual physical training. It's mind training." ~ Matt Thorne
"The reason that most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want most for what they want at the moment."
Wide stance deadlifts Sets 1-3 105/10 (first time I did all reps in all 3 sets!)
Overhead step ups Sets 1-3 30#/12
I used a slightly lower step but I'm still counting it!
Incline chest flys Set 1 10e/12 Sets 2-3 15e/12
Tricep push downs Set 1 35/10 Set 2 30/10 Set 3 35/10
Boy, were these hard after the other stuff I did!
I am pretty tired after today's workout. I went away for the weekend, so I haven't lifted since last Wed. and that was a light workout. I'll hopefully be able to stay on track this week. Things are so busy this week and next!
You pull your abdominals in as tight as you can (imagine a string tied to your belly button and being pulled out your back like one of those old wind up dolls that would talk when you pulled the string). You're not holding your breath; it's kind of like kegels mixed with abdominals. Hope that explains it. They are hard! Some yoga variations include other positions. Standing is good enough for me!
