Guys what is so special about shopping in the petite section? Even when I was 180lbs I shopped in the petite section. It is for short people not just short and skinny people. Pretty generally it sucks to be short though there are exceptions (like when some tall person has to duck due to low ceilings)
My favorite store lately has been Goodwill. I would have broke the bank going through all the sizes I did in the last year if I had continued to shop at the department stores. Funny thing is that I turned my nose up about the whole thing when I first did it. Not really due to the fact the clothing is used so much as I thought it would be even harder to find stuff I liked and that fit in there then in the Mall. I could not have been more wrong. The stuff is organized in a really friendly manner and it is cheap enough that I don't feel compelled to try everything on.

I'm barely 5'2" tall, have a very short waist and short rise, so regular clothes don't fit me proportionately just because of my shortness. The smaller size is because of my weight. I have been hitting the GoodWill/thrift stores for a while. I just know that if I need something specific and can find it on sale at a store I know the clothes fit me, it's so much easier. Oh, you just reminded me of a really nice consignment shop in the next town over. They usually have great clothes in my size. I'll have to check them out when I go visit my cousin next time.
Plank Set 1 90s Set 2 60s Cable Horizontal Wood Chop Sets 1-2 15/8
Today felt like a bleh workout to me, but when I got home to log it, I realized that most of these weights were PRs last time and I did work hard, so I'm happy. Just push myself too hard all the time, I think.
For the challenge, I'll be finsihing up NROLFW Stages 5-7 with cardio on between days. I'm also thinking about a daily protein goal.
Warm up - 5 min on tm, bw squats, side lunges, reverse lunges, 45# deadlifts
Wide-grip deadlift from box Sets 1-2 90/8
Bulgarian Split Squat Sets 1-2 25/8 Underhand-grip lat pulldown Set 1 60/8 (did wide grip by mistake and wondered why I couldn't do a measly 70#!) Set 2 70/8 [both standing]
Reverse Lunge from box with forward reach Sets 1-2 20e/8 Dumbbell Prone Cuban Snatch Sets 1-2 8e/8
Yay for finishing Stage 4! Your strength is amazing for how little you weigh! (That reminds me, I'll have to check to see when mine should be. I think it's a long time off since I took that knee-injury haitus.) Anyway great job and get rested!
Are you starting school soon? We are (theoretically) starting on August 11 b/c I tend to take a few weeks off during ski season.

Thanks, everyone! I had a great rest week though I now feel like a stuffed chicken or something! I weighed in yesterday 8 pounds up from just before I started NROLFW. I'm trying to decide what to do about that. Eating in a deficit while lifting heavy 3x a week isn't possible for me. I'm thinking about cutting back to 2x per week with a slight deficit. I'm also adding cardio 6 days a week back in. I plan to do at least 1 mile a day of WATP. The WATP dvds I have aren't too intense. I definitely need the stress relief that cardio provides for me. After taking and posted the dreaded challenge photos, I'm tempted to switch to OPT. I've been reading FLTS and thoroughly enjoying it. I had no trouble losing with SP, WATP, and mild ST. Doing NROLFW, I've been gaining muscle, true, but I also think some fat is creeping back on, too. I just don't want to go there. I have no aspirations to be a fitness model or to have ripped abs or anything. I just want to be healthy. But I hate the thought of not finishing NROLFW when I've gotten so far!
I definitely feel much better physically after increasing my calories and my rest week, so it's a true dilemma. If I cut out the ice cream it might help... Seriously, any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.
Celeste, we've enrolled the kids in a pilot program, the SC Virtual Charter School, which is public school at home using the k12.com curriculum! We have to follow the state's school year which starts on Aug 19 or 20, I think. We're actually going to Maine for a family reunion the following week, so we'll pack up the books and take them with us!!
Pauline - I am doing what you're thinking about -- I only do NROLW 2/week - and I am going to skip stage 7 (which is technically the cut!) because I don't think my food can stay at a deficit and I won't get the benefit of it if I overeat... And I added a lot more SS cardio, dropped all the HIIT. For now.
Once the fat is off, I will add more intensity back in cuz I love it!

Thanks for reminding me about the cut in Stage 7, Bytsi. I'm going to have to read that part again and see if it's something I could manage. That might be a possible solution to my dilemma.
Lori, we're going to a lake called Flying Pond near a town called Mount Vernon. My dh's family went there for vacation when he was younger.

Huh... I've actually never heard of it! Not that uncommon though... there's a lot of Maine that I haven't explored LOL!

Wow 8lbs on your rest week!!!??? No way is that true weight gain. I bet it drops really quicky as you get back into it. What did you do on the rest week wrt eating? Did you track at all or just eat whatever, whenever?

Are you weighing your food/tracking your calories?

I actually didn't gain anything during my rest week. I ate pretty normal overall. Yes, Tom, I do a pretty good job of keeping track of things. The weight I've gained since beginning NROLFW is all due to eating within an increased calorie range plus the muscle from lifting. I've "allowed" the gain because I figured it was muscle but I'm trying to find the balance in maintenance between gaining for muscle and maintaining for body fat%.

Yes, you did! My rest week was going to end Tues. and I couldn't get to the gym Tues. or Wed. due to a mountain at home and work from being away last week. Yesterday was our 28 anniversary and we went to the mountains for the day. I did some functional fitness, though. Carried 2 boxes weiging 60+ pounds each down a flight of stairs. Carried my grandson up a trail and some stairs (step-ups in action!!!) at Mt. Mitchell. Even in the higher elevation, I didn't get winded. Walked about a mile grand total.
I hope to start Stage 5 today! So I actually had a full 7 days off. I feel good!

Whew, I'd have to roll myself to the scale if I gained 8 lbs in one week! Jane is right, the gain is since the end of March when I started NROLFW. It's actually about 6.5 lbs. I think I'm most comfortable around 103ish. I'm at 104.5 as of my Wed. weigh in.

Thanks, Jane! When I look at myself, I know my view is distorted somewhat. It's like I see what I've always seen and not what is there now. I know a lot of it is muscle gain, because I certainly have a lot more muscle than I ever had. My core feels like I'm wearing a girdle under my skin. First time in a long time THAT muscle is rock hard! But as I said to Tom, I also want to be mindful of my bodyfat%...
Pauline, you are so tiny...you make me think of Holly Hunter. Have you seen her in Saving Grace? She's 50 and she is RIPPED! So, keep on keeping on! You are doing great!

I have this problem too. I see the same body in the mirror I always have. Taking pictures has been the biggest help for me in seeing the changes, as mortifying as it can be to see them up on your computer screen
Pictures help me a GREAT deal, too (a million thanks again to Julie for making me do pictures!!!). The pictures make me see what's there. While, the mirror still makes me shudder. Stupid, I know.
