You might be interested in the CFSB (Crossfit with strength basis). You do your strength and then do a mini metcon afterwards.
This is what I've been looking for! My strength sessions have been too few and far in between. Hopefully, this affiliate will constantly update it's website
I can totally relate, I am the worst when it comes to schedules. I don't have to be to work at a specific time, but it kills me when I am "late". Late for me that is.
Hello there. I'm playing catch-up, as I always seem to do on the weekends. How did this week go for you? I'm hoping that perhaps you got back into your usual routine.
So much to tell... Even though I haven't been logging lately, I've been keeping up with my workouts and eating. So far this month, I've lost 4lbs (130.6 this morning!). I'm really happy about all of that.
As for March, the month started off really stressful. Work was rediculous until last Thursday when I lost my job. It seems that one of our projects was insanely over-budget. I've been just search since and have an interview this morning.
It's kind of funny, while I'm incredibly angry about the situation, and I had a good freakout when it happened, I'm finding myself somewhat relieved. My job was stressful. I was putting long days and working weekends just to keep up. Blah blah blah.
I actually feel like I have a lot of opportunity with this, and am considering going back to school to get my masters in Education. My BA is in English and Secondary Education, and I always intended to become a teacher. Now might be the ideal time for that. When I got my degree, I was too young, and not ready to be in the classroom. I think I am now. So, I'm waiting for my fingerprint papers to apply to be a substitute teacher to see how that all goes.
I'm heading to the gym after my interview. And eventually I'll get around to logging some workouts. Despite everything, I'm doing really well.
Wow - lots going on!!! Congrats on the weight, and I'm sorry about the job, but your attitude is great and I think you'd be an AMAZING teacher! Good luck with the interview and job/school stuff!
Christina, that would be great to go back to school and pursue your teaching dream! Congrats on the loss and on the consistency in the midst of all the change and stress!!
Sounds like you have a great attitude goin' on here. Sorry about the job, but teaching would be great! Hopefully everything works out so you can pursue it all. I have a friend who went back to get her masters in order to teach - she had a marketing undergrad berforehand I believe. My DH is a teacher too, and I think he could relate to the not being ready for the classroom...at least looks wise! His first year he would get confused for a student often

Thanks. It still in the thought-process, although I just requested information on the masters program from CU Denver...

Thanks. I'm trying not to be too stressed...workout out and being consistant is really helping me get through the days.

Ha! I did my student teaching the first time around when I was 21. During parent/teacher conferences, I was told that there was no way I was the teacher and that I looked more like one of the hussies that her son was always bringing home (I did student teaching in a last-chance school).
I figured I should log at least one of my workouts in here...This is what I did today:
Thanks for the support and encouragement everyone! I'm hanging in, still deciding which direction to go with my life. Teaching is looking more and more appealing. And I've talked to an advisor at CSU already. I can actually do a lot of my master's online if I decide to go that route, which would still let me work...if I manage to find a job.
Today's workout...lots of digging. We've decided to dig up the backyard at BFs house. At least part of it. There's a buried pathway and staircase that we're digging out. So far we've been at it for about 2 hours. And, I've already got a blister, but we're pushing on. We've found a few yards of walkway and the first stair so far. Tons of fun...
Eventually, I'm going to get around to catching up on everyone's logs. I've just been spending all of my online time doing research and looking for a job laterly. Not the most fun, but it'll do for now.
I'm just a little jealous that you can dig in a garden. Ours is back to frozen solid at the moment. That sounds like one of those projects that sounded like a good idea until you actually started it! Good luck.

Yeah, it seemed like a good idea...now it's just a big mess. It rained for a bit yesterday, so no more work was done on it. Today is nice again, but after spending 1-1/2 hours with the dentist, nothing sounds like fun. I need to stop grinding my teeth!

Good luck with all the school and job searching stuff. Not fun at all.
My mid-back is still a little sore from all the digging...
It's not fun, but it'll all work out. Even if it means taking out student loans to get my certification and masters. I'd rather not have loans, but will if I have to.

Keep on keepin' on! Teachers are AWESOME btw!
Thanks! Teachers are awesome! Underappreciated, but awesome.
I planned on hitting the gym today; that was before spending an hour and a half at the dentist. Now my jaw/tooth just feel unpleasant. I grind my teeth a lot, and managed to completely destroy a filling and apparently part of my tooth. We thought we were just going to have to take the old filling out and replace it, but that wasn't so much the case. Needless to say, I have a night guard coming...
Anyway, I've decided to switch things up again and instead of doing strength II, I'm going to jump into Hypertrophy II, then come back to strength.
In other news, I have a phone interview tomorrow with a research company. It's for a managing editor position. Sounds interesting at least. And I think it would be something I could do while getting my certification.
Thanks everyone. The interview went well, I think. It's so hard to tell...ugh. I hate interviewing!
Hey, I'm actually logging a workout!
6 sets of 3 of:
Reverse Grip Bent Over Row: 5 sets @ 85lbs, and to see if I could do it...1 set @ 90lbs (not pretty, but I did it!)
Barbell Bench Press: all sets @ 75lbs. Last two sets were brutal!
Wide Grip Row: all sets @ 80lbs
DB Incline Bench Press: all sets w/27.5lbs
Dips: all sets w/22lbs assistance
3 sets 12 Swiss Ball Crunches.
All in all, a pretty decent workout.
Oh, and for all of you jealous of my yard work last weekend, I thought I'd let you know it's snowing like crazy today with no signs of letting up until sometime tomorrow. Got to love Colorado!
Here's my April update:
I'm a little dissapointed at how I ended March. I really let the stress of everything get to me this last week or so. My eating and drinking weren't the best, and I'm ending up about 2lbs from my low earily this month.
I've been really bad about posting my workouts in here lately. I need to get back into doing that again!
So, to start with...
Yesterday:
5 sets of 6 for each:
Wide grip Deadlift: 115lbs for all sets
Superset:
Walking Lunges w/10lb ball and a twist
One-leg squats-assisted
2 sets 10 Reverse Incline Crunch w/leg lift
I'm actually really sore today! I don't know if it's from the workout or the fact that I went snowboarding all day Sunday or a combination of both. Oh, and I have some pretty nice bruises from the snowboarding. I got my leg stuck behind my sister's board when we got on the lift and it got smashed into the seat. So, my calf is pretty bruised, and so is the top of my foot.
Today it's going to be really nice outside, and I'm hanging out at BFs house with his son, so I might do some more digging in the backyard. We'll see.
Oh! I forgot to mention it...I applied for school again and I have an appointment with an advisor on Monday. I'm really excited. I also ordered some study material to get certified as a Personal Trainer. I figure that I need to do something while I'm back in school--and something that I enjoy, and once I finish and become a certified teacher, I'll probably need something on the side...teachers don't make much...so, why not training? Especially since the schedule would be pretty flexible. Perfect for school and teaching.
