Wow--that would be quite a strange accident. Glad it wasn't worse, though it does sound like a good idea to go to the dr. Nice workout, too!
Well, he went to the doctor; they're sending him to get x-rays, just to make sure. It was just bizarre. He's still not quite sure what happened.

I'm glad it wasn't worse too. It really should have crushed his ankle.
And, Thanks!

NICE job on the push-presses!
I thought I was the most accident-prone person ever, until I met him. The two of us are quite a pair...
The push-presses were fun, especially since there were too rather large guys doing them in the rack next to me. They had about 100lbs on me and were pressing about 100lbs more than me. They kept looking over and commenting on it. Actually, the commenting started with my chinups. They were excited to see a girl doing these things.
OH! I don't know how I forgot to mention this...Saturday, I bought new workout pants--I swapped out my larges for a pair of smalls! No wonder my pants kept sliding down at the gym (and thank goodness for drawstrings)!

That is so cool!
My oldest got his heel parked on this summer. Completely bizarre and I still have no clue how it happened. Nothing came of it but some bruising and scraping, too.
Thanks everyone. It was, well, interesting...and didn't go exactly as I planned. But, despite it's ups and downs, we ended up having a pretty good time. No snowboarding. BF had an extremely strange accident Thursday night which resulted in having a car parked on his ankle! I don't know how to describe it. Surprisingly, he's ok--nothing's broken. He managed to come out of it with a skinned ankle, some swelling, and a pulled hamstring.
Yikes, glad it was only a minor thing. I'm in school with a guy who had a forklift go over his foot. He said it was years of surgeries / therapy and such, and it's still not right.

Wow, awesome on getting comments from the guys in the gym, AND on losing 2 sizes on your pants! That is way cool--you must be so happy!

Since it happened, I've heard all sorts of running over a foot stories. I guess it's more common than I imagined! But still...really? How does that happen?

The doctor told him that it really should have crushed his foot (and everyone in the office had to stop in just to look at it). He's extremely lucky.

Oh, and btw - pretty decent first attempt at a crockpot meal tonight:
And that looks delicious! I'm definitely going to have to try this!

Hooray on the pants! All of us here are going to keep the economy going by having to buy new clothes all the time....right? Not enough?

CONGRATS on the smaller pants! AND the comments at the gym!
Thanks everyone! I feel like I'm altering and replacing a lot lately. That's good, but expensive. It might be time to invest in a good belt...
I ended up working 10 hours yesterday, so I didn't go to the gym after work. I was just too tired. Because I'm afraid of that happening again today, I'm going to make time at lunch to at least go down to the cardio room and so something! I'm not sure what yet, although yesterday's crossfit looks interesting:
Complete as many rounds in 20 minutes as you can of:
5 Pull-ups
10 Push-ups
15 Squats
See, except for the pull-ups, that's the kind of workout I could drop from. I'd be trying to do as many as possible (and my body would rebel). Good luck!
Complete as many rounds in 20 minutes as you can of:
5 Pull-ups
10 Push-ups
15 Squats
Did it--13 rounds.
Some notes:
1. The pull-ups quickly became 4, then went down to 3, followed by 1 with a negative, and ended with just 1.
2. Somewhere around 10 minute in, the push-ups became really hard, and I started doing them on my knees.
3. I think I did this too close to lunch, because about 15 minutes in I started getting side cramps, which considerably slowed me down.
All that said, it really got my heart rate up, and the runners were giving me funny looks (that's typical for the cardio room though).

I think that if it weren't for the side cramps slowing me down, I may have dropped from it. It was tough!

That's why I'm glad I work out at home - nobody around to care!! (except the cat who could care less!)
Reminds me a little of that hour-long bootcamp class I took, but your version is much better.
I don't think I could last an hour at that pace. 20 minutes was more than enough for me!

My dog doesn't let me work out at home. She thinks that squats are a fun game, pushups are the ideal time for her to crawl under me to lick my face, and situps are great for pushing me over.

I've been known to safety pin things too. It never does look right though.
Today is one of those days that I wish I had my camera with me. It snowed yesterday, and it's the kind of snow that sticks to the tree branches, making everything glisten. Everything was super sparkly with a pink-ish tint this morning when I was walking the dog/watching the sun rise. Then on the train, I could see Pike's Peak clearly. It looked like it was breezey in Colorado Springs because there was a cloud of snow blowing off of the peak. Beautiful. And, finally, on the bus, we went past a half-frozen pond with a single goose standing next to it. The goose was so statuesque.
But now I'm in the office where nothing's pretty. It's all gray and tan and bland. And, by the time I leave, everything will have melted and it'll all be brown and soggy outside. Blech.

I'm glad BF isn't too badly hurt. Congrats on the attention from the big guys, too! That's always fun...and for the new pants. Gotta love the concrete signs of progress!

Too funny! The only time I have a problem with the cat is when I'm doing something that requires me to lay on the floor - then he thinks it's time to come get a scratch!!
Last night I had my killer workout with my trainer...
Warmup
Run to the train station (I'm including this even though I sat for 15 minutes afterwards)
8 minutes on the bike
Walking lunges w/twist holding medicine ball-4 times across the room
Then the fun began?
50 BW squats-fast
Superset 2times: Bulgarian Split Squat with Shoulder Press 12 each leg Curtsey Lunges 10 each leg--Step back and across, lunge.
Frog Leg press things with Band 10 each leg. Ok--this involves wrapping a band around a bench, laying on the bench, wrapping the band around your feet, and pushing up and out w/legs--one at a time. It couldn't have looked pretty! 50 BW Squats-fast Romanian Deadlift from Box w/KB 30! Leg Presses w/Band see frog leg thing, except push legs out without the up. Still looking pretty! Frog Jumps 2 times across the room 1-leg quarter squats 10 each leg Silly Chair Scoot thing 10 each leg--um, stand on one leg, put other leg (bent) on the chair. Scoot the chair out, and pull it back in using legs only. Walking Side Lunges 8 each leg Silly Chair Scoot thing 10 each leg
Planks hands on bosu ball
1 regular for 45 seconds
1 rocking the bosu from left to right
1 rocking the bosu front to back
1 regular for 45 seconds.
Followed by a lot of stretching!
So my trainer hit the nail on the head with me last night--she noted that my core is my weakness. She actually commented that she's never worked with someone who's shoulders are stronger than her core. Hm...I suppose I should focus more on my core. I do tend to push the core work off till tomorrow, which, of course, never comes. New plan, work my core more!
My dog doesn't let me work out at home. She thinks that squats are a fun game, pushups are the ideal time for her to crawl under me to lick my face, and situps are great for pushing me over.
Wow, this is what happens at my house, too. I like to jump rope when I work out at home, and the dogs think that's REALLY interesting. Heaven help me if I run in place--that means it's time to bark and jump all around me, with possible attempts to play tug-of-war with any flapping clothing.
This is Lily......and this is Beau (but he's much bigger now).
Cute puppies all around! Is Suzee a beagle? One of my best friends has two beagles and they sure are playful.
That was quite a workout - your trainer sounds right up my alley! I laughed about the more core work - I am pretty sure my weakness is core related too, because I tend to cut myself short on that stuff.
Bree, Suzee's a beagle and we think lab mix. She's extremely tall and lanky, and over the top playful.
It's so easy to cut short the core stuff--it's always the last thing I do in a workout.
So...I left the office yesterday in a bad, bad, bad mood. It turns out that the entire office will be working all weekend long to get an ap. out, and, lucky me, I get to do QA. For all you QA people out there, I don't know how you do it! You're a special breed. I hate it! And on top of that I had to bring my car into the shop--$1000.00 later, I can pass emissions--oh, and I have a nice new catalytic converter. I guess the car thing is good though because I was putting out some pretty nasty stuff every time I drove (which isn't often, but still).
Long story short, instead of doing planks last night, I over ate and got drunk. Boo! This morning, I'm back on the wagon. I'm brushing off yesterday and have plans to go to the cardio room at lunchtime to do:
5 Rounds:
15 Kettlebell Swings (with a DB instead because there aren't any KBs here--I think it'll work)
15 Situps
15 Back Extensions
15 Knees to Elbows (hanging leg lift)
And, if there's time, I'll run out some of my left-over frustration, which is what I should have done yesterday.
QA person here....thanks for the empathy!! I know ALL about weekend work and I DEFINITELY feel for you. My weekend comes next weekend at 2AM on Saturday, but it should be a short checkout of a software elevate.
