Ok, so I've done absolutely nothing since Friday. I wasn't feeling the greatest and by Sunday I wasn't able to keep anything down. I'm now very familiar with my bathroom floor and all it's little cracks and whatnot though. Oh, and there's a small crack in my bath tub. I should probably look into fixing that.
Oh, no! Those moments of communing with the bathroom floor are the worst. I hope you're significantly less miserable today.

Can you stay home another day? Keep away from that strep at all costs! You just paid your sick-dues for the rest of the winter, imo . And it's too pickin' cold to go outside today, anyway. When I walked my son to school this morning, I originally planned to walk the dogs a bit farther to the dog park, so they could run around. The boxer (9 mo. old) was wimping out before we even reached the school, picking up one paw after the other and shivering. I hadn't realized it was zero F out!
Anyways, I'm sending you prayers and warm thoughts for a speedy recovery.
Thanks Cheryl! I'm so much less misearable today!
I'm unfortunately in the office today. I'm so far behind right now! What makes everything worse is that I'm totally psyching myself out with the whole strep thing. I keep swallowing and drinking water to see if my throat hurts. So far, nothing, but I generally get strep just at the mention of it.
Oh no! Not you too! The stomach bug is everywhere these days. I have been doing my germophobe best to avoid it at all costs! My Dh has a head cold, but that's nothing in comparison. I hope you get better soon and try to avoid that strep at your office!
Thanks Bree. I thought I was doing my best to avoid it all too, but, well, it didn't work out as well as I had hoped. Here's hopping I don't catch the strep...
I didn't officially set my goals for the week in my training log, but here's what I'm hoping for...
1. Work back up to calories
2. Don't get strep
3. Finish the week out strong
My get your butt moving workout went a little like this...
5 rounds:
4 chinups 1st round, then 5 lat pulldowns for the rest
10 pushups
15 situps
20 squats
A few note: The chinups were not pretty! That's why I switched over to pulldowns.
The pushups were about half regular, half on knees per set. This was all done with no rest between until the last two rounds. Then I had about 90 seconds between rounds. Oh, and just to make myself feel extra-good about this workout, it was the "Barbie" version of CFs WOD from Sunday. Yay me! The full version was 5 rounds of 20 Pull-ups, 30 Push-ups, 40 Sit-ups, 50 Squats. Maybe if I had a couple of hours I could have done it.
On a whole different note, I've already eaten more today calorie-wise than I managed to get down yesterday. So that's really good! I'm pretty happy about that. I'm still about 150 shorter than usual by this time of day though.
I still haven't psyched myself into thinking I have strep...I might be in the clear.

I hate that... mind games... when my H was exposed to chicken pox (which he did eventually end up getting - 2 years later), he was SO itchy for an entire week - just because he was afraid of getting 'em!

Hey, Christina, glad you're feeling somewhat better. Ugh. Stomach bugs are the worst. But you did make me smile at the bathroom floor/bathtub crack comment! Hope you stay strep-free and continue to get your strength back.
Thanks all! I'm feeling really good today. I'm so glad. I was worried that I might have to cancel my training session tonight, but it's looking like I'll make it. I actually have energy today! Still no strep!
Just another reason I love Denver and the surrounding area. I got off the bus at the office this morning to a herd of deer in the parking lot across the street. It was so cool! And, it's not the first time they've been out there. I love it!
I had my training session last night and wow! It kicked my butt!
We started with a 5 minute warm up on the bike. That was the easy part. Then:
Walking Lunges...on the treadmill...at an incline. I did 4 sets of these lunging for a minute w/30 seconds of recovery. Then, just to add a bit of additional pain, 2 sets of lunges raising the rear leg, still on an incline for 30 seconds w/30 seconds of recovery.
Superset 3 times w/minimal rest: RDLs on a box w/kettlebell: 15 reps each set. I don't remember the weight I used, but it was enough! Hop over a bench: I really don't know what else to call this...With my hands planted firmly in about the middle of a bench, I hopped over the bench and back again. 30 seconds. This really got my heart rate up!
Superset 2 times: Squat/bounce on Bosu Ball: Again, I don't know what to call this, but I did about a quarter squat on a bosu ball, then pulsed up and down very quickly--not boucing on the ball, but using the legs and pushing through the heels. Ouch. Um, 30 seconds 2 Hand Kettlebell swing: 15 reps. This also really gets the heart rate up! Oh, and it's a blast! Love these.
Superset 2 times: 1 Arm RDL w/ Kettlebell: That's the best name I could come up with for this one. It's like an RDL in that you keep your legs straight. The difference is that you hold the kettlebell over your head, then bend at the waist and touch your opposite toe w/ the kettlebell. 10 on each side. Ball Slams: Um, squat with a medicine ball, slam it into the ground while still holding it, and jump up.
Chair Scoots: Yup, I made up this name too...sat in a chair, held a 15lb db chest high and scooted across the room. The scoot part was heel to toe. I really felt these in my lower legs to start and then in my tush by the end. Across the room and back 3 times. It was a pretty big room!
That was it. There was no way I could have done anything else. I pretty much felt like collapsing in the middle of the gym after it all. Instead, I gather up all my stuff, went home, ate, and then collapsed.
Scale this morning was 134.0! I don't expect it to stay there, but it's a drop of a pound from yesterday. I'll take it. I considered doing my photos this morning when I was at the ultimate low, but I was running late for work as it was. I imagine that there'll be a bounce back of about .5lbs. Which, again, I'll take. Heck, I'm ok with it going back up the full pound. 135.0 was pretty exciting for me!
So, I'll be facing a decision next week. The last of my three training sessions in next Wednesday. The big decision...do I sign up for more? I'm really enjoying doing something new, and I'm curious to see what else my trainer will do to me (I got a sneak peak at the next workout and, yeah, it'll also kick my butt.). And I really like learning more about how to incorporate kettlebells into my workouts. The downside--the money. It's not cheap, that's for sure! Hm, what to do?
Anyway, I'm going to do some HIIT for lunch today. Other than that, I've got one meeting after the next. Ugh.
Sounds like a GREAT workout!! And lots of new and different stuff!

If you can afford the $$$, I say go for it! You are enjoying it, and learning things - and it's an investment in YOU!!
Sorry about the back to back meetings - those days suck!

Hi-ya! I think I'm done with meetings! Hooray!
You're both right. I really need to price some things out and check my finances. The end of last year was really hard on us, and I'm finally starting to get out of a hole. And then I keep thinking about tax refunds...I'm filing tomorrow and am getting enough back to pay off a good portion of debt (invisilign--it was so worth it!). Hm...so much to think about.
Today's workout:
15 minutes of HIIT on treadmill, 1 minute running @ 7mph, 2 minutes recovery @ 3.5. Not too bad. I was going to do some planks too, but then for some reason forgot. Meh. Not too worried about it.
Dang. I just got called into a meeting that I wasn't scheduled to be in.
I had my training session last night and wow! It kicked my butt!
It looks AWESOME! That's one thing I like about working with a trainer--I definitely work harder than when I'm working on my own. Of course, on the flip side, last time I worked with a trainer I ended up quitting my workout program altogether because the workout was too hard ....

It sounds like you're getting a lot out of it. If you can afford it--and don't need the money for something else (!)--I'd go for it. Is there anyone else you can pair up with? That could bring down the cost. Too bad we're not closer together...except that I don't think I could keep up with your workouts yet! I'll get there someday .
I agree....its an investment in you and its something you enjoy. I know its hard when you have to answer to someone else about the money though. My DH doesn't quite understand me wanting to spend money on fitness stuff.
I probably will go for more training. I don't have anyone that I can split the cost with, so I'll probably sign up for another three sessions for Feb, and take it from there.
I just filed my taxes, and I think it'll cover my teeth-debt and my car maintenance (catalytic conver). I'm hoping it will anyway. And we're paying off the credit card this weekend. So, I'll have that to use if the car stuff goes over.
Cherly, I would love to workout with you! Right now I workout with my boyfried, but he doesn't quite do the same sorts of things I do. He's stuck in a bench press, squat, arm stuff, play basketball routine. It would be fun to workout with someone doing the same things!
In other news, I guess the 134 yesterday wasn't a fluke, today the scale was at 133.4! Totally unexpected! But, I guess two days of not eating will help with weight loss...it's not the way I wanted to do it though.
Today, I'm going to do a NROL strength I workout--I've kind of been missing the strength-focused stuff since I started CrossFit and training. So, I'm going to be doing NROL Strenght I on Fridays and Sundays, with CrossFit and training session during the week. And, of course, the always necessary rest days.
OMG, lunges on a moving treadmill??? Seriously, I'd kill myself!!!
Yeah, it was interesting. Needless to say, the treadmill was moving very slowly...I think we had it set at 1.2. Once I got used to my whole body moving backwards, it wasn't too bad--except for the incline! Ouch. And, I only almost fell off the back of the TM once.
Hey, a loss is a loss, right? At the very least its motivating. Glad you decided to get the extra sessions.
And I totally wish I had a workout partner like you and Cheryl could be. Or even my dh! I have a good friend who is into fitness, but she is more about the body pump type lifting and lots of cardio. I can't quite convince her that she won't get huge from lifting yet. I am glad I have her, but to have a serious lifting buddy like someone here would be so cool.

Anytime anyone asks if I'm afraid of bulking up, I show them my arms and remind them that I've been at it for just over a year now. My noodle arms don't show any sign of huge-ness or bulk. Actually, my trainer and I were laughing about it on Wednesday. She's still impressed with how strong I am vs. how noodle-y I look.
So, change of plan for tonight. Instead of working out, I'm going to go to the Nuggets game. That just sounds like so much more fun! I'll bump strength I to tomorrow and Sunday--since I'll be doing upper body one day and lower the next. I think it should work out ok.
Awesome workouts, and HOORAY on the weight loss! Great job all around! and hope you had lots of fun at the game!
Thanks! The game was a lot of fun! And, I only did a little bit of damage over the weekend. I'm pretty sure it's all sodium/water though. I'm at 135.8 today.
I got two workouts in over the weekend
Saturday: Bench Press
6 @ 65lbs
1 @ 85lbs
6 @ 65lbs
1 @ 85lbs
12 @ 45 lbs Bent Over Row
6 @ 75lbs
1 @ 95lbs
6 @ 75lbs
1 @ 95lbs
10 @ 75lbs Lat Pulldowns
6 @ 112lbs
4 @ 112lbs + 4 @ 100lbs DB Shoulder Press
8 @ 15lbs
8 @ 20lbs
I went light on the good mornings because it's the first time I've ever done them. Other than that, nothing special to note.
Like I said, only minimal damage from the weekend. I went to the Nuggets game Friday night. We ate at there, which was better than I expected. I had sesame tofu with veggies and rice. There was a little more oil in it than what I would use, but all in all, it was ok. We followed dinner up with a pretzel and a cookie; both shared. And a couple of drinks (gin and tonic).
For the superbowl, we had veggies w/hummus and curry dip, apples w/caramel dip, sausage, meatballs, bread, and pasta. I had a ton of veggies and apples, 1/2 a sausage link, 3 meatballs, a slice of bread, and a small amount of pasta. It looks like a lot when it's written down! Oh, and of course, I had superbowl punch--not sure what it was, but it was good!
