1. Puppies make great heating pads. At least mine does. She's super snuggly and lately, she's been crawling under the blankets and curling up next to my stomach. Last night it was much appreciated.
Cats don't do so well on that front. They usually pick a place between your shoulder blades, or in the middle of your chest (depends how you are in the bed) and you wake up wondering why it feels like there's a 16-lb weight impeding your ability to breathe!

Boo hiss... it was snowing here this morning, but just that little dusting of snow. It was actually quite pretty and I only saw two cars in the ditch (luckily the other side of the highway). Why do people never remember that a little snow means ... slow down.

I'm braving the whole baking thing because I've really be craving banana bread. I found (on the healthy recipes section) a recipe for the muffins, so hopefully that'll curb the craving. I don't have exacts on the macros, but I'm going to try to get that all figured out later.
Good luck with the bar. The good thing is (at least around here) with the drinking/driving laws that nobody really expects you to drink a lot, especially if you're like me and have a distance to drive home.
Well, the bar went fairly well. I stuck with my one drink max; I was driving, and I don't really drink that much to begin with. However, I did have baked chicken tenders, not breaded, but with a hot sauce on them. For bar food, it was pretty good. BF ate all of the french fries that came with the chicken, so that was also good.
So, I didn't have leftovers for dinner, instead I ate those chicken tenders. Afterwards, I made banana muffins and had one of those as well. The muffins came out pretty good, a little dense, but I'm no baker. Cals for the muffins are 134 w/ 2g fat, 23g carbs, 5.6g protein. So, they're decent.
I'm super hungry today. If all goes as planned, I'll end up with 1648 cals for the day, but I'm seriously considering cracking open a bottle of wine. It's been not the best of days.
That said, good things:
1. I talked to my parents over the weekend, and they're coming out for Thanksgiving. I was hoping to go out to Dallas to see them for my dad's 70th birthday the end of this week. That's not going to happen, but at least they'll be here next week.
Ok, that's really all I've got today. Bleh. I'm going to pack up and bring work home with me. Did I mention that I might open a bottle of wine?
Oh, I think I'm coming down with a cold.
Nice restraint at the bar. It is so hard to find good food at those places.
Sorry you had a "need a glass of wine" kind of day! I had quite a few of those myself last week.
This is the first year in 5 or so that we are not driving for 6 hours to my in-laws for thanksgiving. It will be more work to have them here, but I am relieved that we don't have to travel this year. 3 years ago there was a horrible storm the Sunday after thanksgiving and I got stuck for two days in Fargo (where my DH was living at the time) because they closed the interstates. My car had about a half inch of ice coating the entire thing. Never thought I would have to break into my own car with a scraper!

Great job on the restraint with bar food/drink. That's the hardest for me (special occasions) because...well, because they're..."special." It's amazing how many special occasions there are though!
Sorry you had a bad day yesterday. I did too. Must have been something in the air? Was it work or just all around yuckiness?
And on the baking front, I'm not an amazing baker either, but I actually like my baked goods dense--something to sink your teeth into, kwim? (Of course I try to accomodate other people's tastes when I bake for my family...)
You didn't overdo it with food OR alcohol at the bar, and you made some good choices (including giving away the fries)...
You're right. I do need to add those to the list.

Luckily, my parent/family is all really low maintenance. I'm going to make a turkey and some cornbread stuffing. My sister and her husband are making a salad and some sweet potato something. My parents are just coming along for the ride. Although I'm sure mom will try to help with something.
Yuck on having to break into your car with an ice scraper! Ice is one thing that I can truely do without.

There are a lot of special occasions, aren't there?
It was a rough day at work and on top of that I was coming down with a cold (now a full-blown cold). I ended up skipping the wine last night and instead opted for NyQuil. I'm still feeling pretty crappy: sinus pressure, runny nose, sore throat. So, today I'm drinking lots of tea, will probably eat closer to maintenance, and try to get the crud out.
Thanks Celeste and Bree. It's my annual winter cold. I haven't lost my voice yet, so that's a good sign. The NyQuil is kicking my butt, but it's the only way I can manage to sleep.
I'm still feeling pretty crappy today, although the sinus pressure is considerably less, thankfully. My throat's still pretty sore and nose is still all stuffed up. I'm planning on leaving the office as early as possible. Just a few more things to get done.
I didn't quite manage to eat at maintenance yesterday. I came in at 1503 cals. I tried to eat more, and even had juice with dinner instead of water. I just have a hard time eating when I can't taste anything. I'm trying again today, but so far, I'm really low. The up side is that the scale is still lingering around 136.4. I like that.

Im from the UK, what is NyQuil? Hope you feel better soon. When my sinuses get blocked I stick my head over a basin of steaming water which has eucalyptus oil and fresh rosemary. It really gets the goo out fast.
Well, the good news is that I slept a lot yesterday and am really starting to feel better. The bad news is that I've lost my voice. The even worse news is that we have a client in today that I'm supposed to work with, as well as having the new girl shadowing me. It'll be interesting to say the least.
Cals yesterday, again, not quite at maintenance, but a little closer...1698. Scale was at 137.4 this morning, which makes sence. I didn't really drink a whole lot of water yesterday because I slept most of the day. And sodium was pretty high. I'll work on the water intake today, and hopefully re-hydrate.

I didn't even notice I did that, Bytsi. That's shows how out of it I've been.
Good news is I can talk again. And, I managed to eat at maintenance yesterday. Apparently I can taste things again!
Bad news is that I'm now hacking up a bunch of crud.
So, I took an unintentional rest week. I guess that's what happens when all you want to do is sleep. I'll kick it back up into gear Sunday.
Oh, and the scale was back down to 136.4 this morning. I'm rehydrated and no longer holding onto a bunch of water. And, lastly, the jeans I bought last weekend now seem too big. I'm going to have to throw them in the drier on high and hope for the best--or get them altered...

Now THAT's cool! (And the fact that you can talk again isn't bad either...)
Yeah, it's cool. Although I was really excited that I had finally found jeans that fit without needing alterations. I should have known better. They're sliding off my ass right now.
I've got family coming into town, so I decided just to get the photos out of the way early. I'm pretty happy with everything, there's still a lot of work to be done, but I'm getting there.

I plan to get back into the gym today, workout today, Wednesday, and Friday. My parents are going to be in town, so getting to the gym Friday might be tricky, but I'm going to try.
Over the weekend, I briefly saw 135.4, but then went right back up to my 136.4-137.2 range. I'm still taking cold medicine, so, that could have something to do with it.
LOL...Thanks. As for the chest, that's a monthly thing. It all depends on when I measure; it fluctuates between 32 and 33.
I know this is an odd thing to comment on, but I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one with that problem. When I first measured for Leigh's challenge I measured an inch more than what I've usually been and I finally figured out it was when I measured compared to all the other times, not that I had been measuring wrong all along. The same thing happened again this month, so it's looking like a trend.
You did really well in the challenge and it looked like you met your goals to me--BF% decrease and ~1 pound per month overall. Way to go!

Sorry you're feeling crummy .
Thanks Karen! Not that anyone really needs to know this, but I have "period bras" and regular every day bras. I gain almost a cup-size each month, then go back down. It's crazy!

So speaking of goals, I think it's time for me to say how I did...
Goals:
1) 80% food compliance each week.
I hit this most of the time. I did have a handful of slip-ups that threw some weeks off, but for the most part, it went really well, and is something I'm going to continue to strive for.
2) Improve posture. I tend to stand with an arm wrapped around my back and it's caused a bit of a sway.
Posture is getting better. There's still some sway when I'm not thinking about it; I'm hoping to get to the point where I don't have to think about it to stand and sit up straight.
3) Continue a downward trend in body fat %. Right now I don't have a specific number in mind
I've said it before; I know that the numbers I'm using for body fat % aren't accurate, but at least they're consistant, and I did go down. I'm happy, still have a ways to go, but happy. I'm going to continue on with this as well.
4) Be proud of the work I've done so far and learn to love my body.
Love isn't a word I'd use yet, but I'm definitly happier with my body. And especially proud of how far I've come in the last year.
5) Headstand Pushups
Yeah, I kind of let this one slide, and focused more on chin ups and pull ups. I guess it's an ok trade-off. Maybe next challenge I'll try for this one again...
Speaking of the next challenge, I fully intend to participate in that as well.
For December, I'm going to start Strength I in NROL (after finishing up hypertrophy, of course), and will continue with Strength II in Jan. By Feb, I think I'll be ready for another round of Fat Loss (II and/or III--I'm not sure which yet). So, there it is, the big plan.
And, finally, I didn't go to the gym yesterday like I hoped. I started wheezing part way through the day and figured another couple days of rest/recoup would probably do me good. So instead, I went home, cooked dinner, and went to bed.
Hey Christina, great job in this challenge! I can definitely see a difference in your waist, and it's great that inches were lost everywhere! I love your goals and the fact that you have seen progress in most! of them! Happy Thanksgiving!
