Thanks Anne, I'll have to look into that and make sure to measure everything before ordering again. Or, I'll just get the drill in kind. I figure if I ever decide to sell, I'll patch it up, sand it down, and repaint. So, that's not too big of a deal. Plus, the door frame going from the hallway to the back living room isn't in the best of shape as it is. We'll see.
Food yesterday was delicious! I came in right around 1367, which is a little lower than I wanted, but that's ok. For dinner, I made pesto chicken, which was so simple! I pretty much marinated chicken breasts in pesto, then threw them on the grill. I had that with a salad and was stuffed for the rest of the night. Oh, and the little burnt parts of pesto were the best!
I didn't get to ride the bike yesterday--I was way too busy at work. And it's looking like today will be similar. Meh.
I've got Anne's Sherry Onion Pork recipe (the one with the wonderful photo in her log) with a few minor adjustments in the crockpot at home right now. I took out all instances of dairy, and added a small amount of vegetable stock to the bottom of the crockpot for a little extra flavor. I'm looking forward to that tonight.
The pork turned out pretty good. Had it with a salad, and then, the downfall. I went out with a girlfriend and had a few (three) drinks. If I'd have stopped at one or even two, I'd have stayed in my deficit and would be feeling a lot better right now. So, I'll just call yesterday my unplanned, slighly early maintenance day and reschedule the next one for two weeks.
Plan for the day: eat at a 200cal deficit. Get to the gym on my way home. Laundry-ugh.
No, nothing frothy. Just gin and tonic. And it just put me at maintenance instead of below. We had a pretty good time, and stayed out later than expected or planned, so the extra drink snuck it's way in. More sleep would have been better though!

Did an Orange Pork recipe today. It turned out pretty nicely. You would have to swap out the butter for a bit of oil (might even be able to drop the oil really). I added a little chicken stock to it as well. Afterwards I remembered that I had some pork stock in the freezer. (duh)
Pictures in my log.

Nice workout there! I can barely get 25's up for shoulder press. Glad that you are able to use the chin up bar. I haven't done any since I started going to the gym. I am still getting used to people watching me in the weight room, so I am going to keep practicing them at home until I get more then 4
Gin and Tonics are awesome...one of my staple drinks.
good workout
Yeah, if I'm going to drink, it'll be a gin and tonic, margarita (but only from the Rio Grande out here), and just added blueberry vodka and club soda. It's delicious!

I'll be over soon to check out the pics and recipe. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, having people watch you in the gym does take a while to get used to, especially when you're struggling to do a 4th chin up. I've actually found, though, that people are just impressed that you can do one at all. I had one girl tell me that it took her 6 months to be able to do just one. And another guy tell me that he was glad to see that I did each from straight arms/hanging instead of cheating and not going down all the way.
Wow, I'm retaining some serious water today! 2 pounds of it to be exact. I'm not sure what that's about (maybe after-affect of drinking?), but I'm going to focus on getting enough water in today.
Happy Halloween everyone. It's going to be hard to keep my hand out of the candy jar today. We're having a party here at the office, so, it'll be interesting.
Try having people watch you at the gym struggling doing negatives for chin-ups! LOL!!! Oh, I am so pitiful!! So, I am super impressed with all of your REAL chin-ups!
I'm impressed with your pull-ups and chin-ups, too! I admit to watching the people at the gym doing them, but it's more envy on my part. I want to figure out what they're doing and I'm not so I can maybe try it their way and get better. Way to go on the straight arms, too. I've found that if I don't straighten my arms, I can get 4 chin-ups. If I do straighten them (and I have to unless I want to call it cheating) I can get what I'm getting now--1 or 2.

Hey, I was there once too. It takes time and practice. I went through a good long time just hanging, which then turned into flopping around, which eventually got me up.

Yeah, if I cheat, I can do more too. Without the cheat, I'm just barely squeaking out a fourth chin up.
Just a few thoughts:
1. For whatever reason, I couldn't get the lighting to work on my front shot this time around. Not sure why, but it was either dark or too light. I went with the dark version.
2. I'm using my average weight for last week; I've been really retaining water the last few days and, well, I've been a little backed up (sorry TMI). This morning's weight was 138.8.
3. All in all, I'm pretty happy with last months results. The deficit is really working for me.
And, finally, I did workout yesterday. I started back in on NROL with Hypotrophy I.
Incline Bench Press: 5 @ 65lbs, 4 @ 70lbs, 4 @ 70lbs, 4 @ 65lbs, 4 @ 65lbs. This was supposed to be 5 sets of 5, but when I went up in weight, I just couln't eek out that last rep.
Barbell Rows: 5 @ 75lbs, 5 @ 85lbs, 5 @ 85lbs, 5 @ 90lbs, 5 @ 85lbs
High Pulls: 5 @ 55lbs, 4x4 @ 45lbs. 55lbs was a joke! I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into by adding any weight at all to the oly bar.
Shoulder Press: 5 @ 27.5lbs, 5 @ 25lbs, 5 @ 25lbs, 5 @ 27.5lbs, 5 @ 25lbs
Assisted Pullups: 5 sets of 5
Close Grip Bench Press: 5 @ 45lbs, 5 @ 50lbs, 5 @ 55lbs, 5 @ 60lbs, 5 @ 60lbs. I was a little timid on these because my spotter had to leave, so I went with weight I knew I could do and then increased from there. If I had a spotter, I could have pushed it a little more. Maybe up to 70 on a set or two.
Swiss Ball Crunches: 2 sets 15 w/10lbs overhead. I bumped back down to the 10lbs because my abs were still a little sore from the last time I did these. Next time, I'll bump back up to 15lbs.
Good things:
1. Halloween. We too BFs son trick or treating along with his older sister and about 8 of her friends. The boy hurt his foot on the trampoline before we left, so we had to switch off piggy backing him through the neighborhood. I walk probably about half a mile total with a 70lb kid on my back. I could have gone father too. 70lbs doesn't seem like that much weight anymore.
2. I can run again! I decided to test it out Saturday evening, and my ankle felt great. The rest of my body, not so much. I need to build back up again. I was panting after about half a mile. Not so good, but still, I can run again! So, I ran Saturday, Sunday, and again this morning. Pup is so happy about it!

Great workout - and you have made great progress since Aug. especially with all those hurdles. Keep it up!
That's great about the running. I am sort of in mourning right now because my outdoor activities are now over as it is dark when I get home I could still go in the dark, but I decided years ago that the safety factor, or lack thereof, is not worth it. It will be a long winter and a battle of wills with the treadmill!
I probably should rename it. Thanks. It feels really great.

Thanks. The dog is probably the happiest of the two us about the running.

Thanks Bree. I agree, safety is important. I do my running first thing in the morning to tire out the dog so that I can come home to my house looking pretty close to the way I left it in the morning. I'm really not thrilled about it getting dark so early. I left work last night around 6 and it was totally dark.
Food yesterday was decent. I came in right around 1527cals. Unfortunately, that included m&m's and twizlers. Today, I've made it a goal not to eat any freaking candy.
Good things for yesterday:
1. The weather was beautiful. We hit about 68, which was really nice. I made a point of stepping outside a couple of times during the day to enjoy it.
2. I found out that today will be one of my co-workers first times voting. She got her citizenship 2 years ago, and she's so excited about getting to vote. Her excitment really rubbed off on me. It was really cute. I can't wait for her to get into the office today.
3. I love having a chinup bar in my house. I find myself doing at least one everytime I walk through the door that it's attached to, which is pretty often actually. So, that's fun. Except today my arms are a bit sore.
4. This one is for today, but I'm going to throw it in the mix anyway. I walked outside at just the right time this morning and caught the absolute best sunrise I've seen in a very long time. The sky to the east was a vivid orange, and to the west, it was reflecting pink.
I had to laugh about the chin-up bar....you do one every time you pass it by. I HANG from mine like I'm dead everytime I pass mine by.
I have to ask, are you trying to do a negative every time you pass, or just hanging from it and trying to pull up? I admit I tend to do the second way more than I should (especially since I can't pull up even with the band).

Nice workouts going on in here and nice progress in your pictures.
Thanks Ginger.

Thanks.
Ok, I had to laugh at that image. It'll happen

I've been doing the hang thing with pullups. That is until last night when I finally managed to get up. Admittedly, it wasn't from a full hang, but it's farther than I've manged to get before. Pretty much what it comes down to is practice.
Food for yesterday snuck in just over 1500cals. I was right on track, but then allowed myself a celebration drink of blueberry vodka and club soda. Oh, and no candy! That was a struggle as the day went on.
Good things:
1. Did I mention no candy yesterday? Because, yeah, I really wanted some. I'm going to continue with my goal of no candy today. We'll see how that goes.
2. A pullup. Ok, I started from a standing position, which put my arms at about 45 degrees, but I managed to get myself up, which is more than I could say before. Next step, do it from hanging.
3. There's, of course, the obvious.
Today's a gym day. I'll be going after work today for day 2 of hypertrophy.

YAY!!!
I need to join in on your "no candy" goal. It was just one little (4 pieces) mini box of milk duds... but damn they were good... and yet so BAD for me!
Thankfully, the peanut m&m's my husband got are now gone at home. Those are hard for me to pass up especially since they were sitting in a dish in the kitchen. Out of sight out of mind really does work for me.
Once I get home, I have no problems with the candy. It's just at work. Every time I walk into the kitchen here, I see candy. And I want it.
Good news is that I avoided it again yesterday. Can I make it three days in a row? We'll see....
I did day 2 of hypertrophy last night:
Front Squats:
10 @ 55lbs
10 @ 60lbs
10 @ 60lbs
10 @ 55lbs
Bulgarian Split Squat
4 x 10BW--these make me pukey. Always have.
Step Ups
4 x 10BW--I did these at home, and the only "step" I had was a bench that's several inches higher than a bench at the gym, so I went with body weight on these. They sucked.
Something I can only describe as the most painful thing I've done in a long time:
2 sets 8--Ok, these were a combination of leg raises on a bench and incline reverse crunches. With the bench at a pretty good incline, I slowly lowered and then raised my legs and went into a reverse crunch. It was really painful, and I only managed to squeak out sets of 8. On my second set, I lowered my legs from the crunch and just slid off the bench. I ended up sitting on the floor for a good couple of minutes before BF came over to wonder what the heck I was doing. Then we left the gym. The sad thing is that I've already concluded that I will do these again.
Cals were a little higher than I wanted; right around 1735. I was so hungry after working out that I ate more than planned. But, apparently I needed it, because I feel pretty good today.
Good things:
1. I totally avoided the candy bucket at work again.
2. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my super busy stay late at work days. Last night, though, I left right after 5, which is the earliest I've managed to do on either of those days in a while. And, what's better is that I finished everything before leaving. I didn't take any work home with me. That was a nice change.
Plan for today: Sit in the conference room all day w/client trying not to eat freaking candy.
