I have been doing so many negative chins on my new bar that my arms are KILLING me. They are so sore I had to rub stuff on them because they were bothing me so much. I think I need a day off from any arm stuff tomorrow!! By the way, the new coach told me that the bar we got is the same one she and her husband use at home and she highly recommended it!
Hi there! It's been awhile since I've stopped in to check on you and I kick myself everytime. Lots of good stuff going on in here! And yes, the polls make me smile. Let's just hope it all rings true, when it matters the most.
Thanks!
I'm planning on sneaking out of the office early one day this week so that I can vote early.

Good to know. I can't wait for it to get here.

Christina, it sounds like you're committed to working on those chins!!
I've spent the last month and a half focusing on my back and arms. I'm starting to see changes, and really like it, so, yes, I'll be working on those chins and pull ups even more.

I had to do the exact same thing with my legs! I've been taking a break on those since Thursday and I think that I'm finally ready to do something again. I suspect that it'll be the same with once the bar gets here too.
Food so far for the weekend: On track. Friday and Saturday both ended with about 250cal deficit. So I'm happy with that. I didn't go too overboard at the bar with my party friends, so that's good.
Speaking of the bar, time for the good things:
1. Friday BF's band played. It was a ton of fun. As we were loading out, without thinking about it, I grabbed the "bag from hell" and walked it out to the car with no problems. This bag from hell has all of the stands and whatnot from his drums, so, it's really freaking heavy. The first time I went to grab it, I couldn't get it off the ground (that was 5 years ago and I was a lot heavier, but still.
2. At the bar Friday, I ran into a girl I used to work with a couple of years ago. She quit when she was diagnosed with cancer. Well, she's done with treatment and is cancer free, and looks amazing! It was so good to see her looking so healthy.
3. Yesterday and today both, it's been in the upper 70s. Perfect for dinking around outside, which I've done a lot of. Snow is still on the mountain peaks too! Yay.

I first read this as DRINKING and thought...how strange....but, whatever turns you on! LOL!
LOL Jane, no drinking today-except for water and iced tea. The tea was pretty good outside though. Maybe putzing is a better word? Mainly playing with the dog, sitting around, considering much needed yard work.
I'm feeling virtuous today - I actually took time and did one task that I've been meaning to do (driving 8ft stakes 2-3 feet into the ground). I'm ignoring all of the other tasks that I mentally started listing in my head when I was outside.
Sounds like your three good things were very good things. I'm going to ignore the mention of the white stuff though!
I'm so excited about that white stuff. It means that within the next few weeks, I'll be snowboarding! Generally, here, it stays in the mountains. We do get storms in the city, but it usually clears up within a day or so (every now and then we get enough to shut down the city, but that's really rare).
I'm going to stay on track with my general relaxing, dinking, and putzing today and put the gym off for tomorrow. I've got to get started on the meatloaf for tonight's dinner--I'm using Natalia's recipe minus the cheese. And I'm paring it with hash browned zuchinni. It's a new recipe for me, so we'll see how that goes. I figure it can't be too bad, just shredded zuchinni and an egg with some seasoning.

I'm curious to see how this turned out.
I agree with Anne that the mention of white stuff doesn't strike me as a particularly good thing, LOL. We have it on the mountains near our house, too, and I am not looking forward to it. The snow itself doesn't bother me, but the people not knowing how to drive on it are a problem.
Karen, the hash brown zuchinni didn't turn out too bad. I think next time I'll use less egg and make it in smaller batches so that it's thinner. I used two med. zuchinni and two eggs, plus some seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic). Then just threw it in a skillet with a spray of olive oil flavored pam. Next time, I'll use the two zuchinni and probably only one egg, and maybe some hot sauce. If you like parmesan cheese, that would probably be pretty good in there too.
You're right about people not knowing hot to drive in the snow. That's always a problem. But, since I pretty much only drive on weekend, it's not so bad for me.
It looks like we'll have clients in the office all week, so getting to the gym is going to be tough. Hopefully I'll be able to make it a couple of times. I was planning on going today after work, and am still planning on it, but am not promising myself anything.
In other news. I seem to be losing weight at a much quicker rate than expected or planned. This morning, I was at 137.8, which puts things at 3lbs in 2 weeks. I was hoping for 1lb for the month. I'm not complaining, mind you, but am wondering how I'm managing to underestimate my deficit by that much. I've been measuring and putting everything in fitday. I guess as long as I'm feeling ok and remember to do my maintenance day, I'll keep trecking along with the new food plan, which is pretty much less peanut butter, less bread, and less hummus. I'm not taking those totally out of my diet at all, because I love them all, just eating smaller portions daily (for example, 1tbs of peanut butter instead of 2).
I managed to sneak out for a half hour and do a quick workout since I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to make it to the gym after work...
Chin Ups: 2 sets 3, hands super close together (pretty much on top of eachother--it was either that or farther than shoulder-width apart)
Lunges: 2 sets 8 w/15 lbs e
Shoulder Presses: 2 sets 8 w/25lbs e
Tricep extensions: 2 sets 10 @ 20lbs
Bicep Curls: 1 set 8 w/15lbs e, 1 set 5 same weight
Crunches: 1 set 20 on floor, 1 set 15 on super small ball.
That about does it. Time for lunch...leftover meatloaf and hash browned zuchinnni
Christina, you lugging the bag from hell without even thinking about it is such a great example of the outcome of all your hard work. I love it when I do something I would have hesitated to do in the past!! Woohoo for you! And I'm with you on the white stuff because we hardly get anything here. I loved living in Sacramento where we could drive up to the mountains and spend a day in the snow and then go home.
Food for yesterday about 1620, including a glass of wine with dinner. Protein came in a little lower than I had hoped, but not too bad all together. Sodium was also really high yesterday. I had a craving for nut and the only ones available were salted.
Scale today back up to 138.2; I'm guessing the wine and salt didn't help me out any here.
Good things for yesterday...I enjoyed my glass of wine with dinner while sitting in the window watching a lightning storm. No TV. Just the storm. I also went to bed really early last night, which apparently I needed.
I'll be stuck in the conference room most of the day; I'm hoping to be able to ride the bike in the cardio room at lunchtime, but will likely not happen. Also, I'm going to review some of the ammendments and either vote tonight (depending on when I leave the office) or tomorrow morning bright and early.
So, the really good thing about sitting in the conference room all day is that the big window faces the mountains, and I get to watch tonight's storm roll in. We've got the potential for the first "real" snow in the city--sticking on grassy areas but not on roads.

I still just find it so funny that you put storms and snow in the good things category. But, to put it in perspective, we had a really cool temperature summer so it hardly seems like summer was here, which makes it even harder to think of winter again as a good thing. (It was only in the 90s a handful of days, which is fairly uncommon.)
Anyway, I hope your morning improves tomorrow and that you catch the bus this time .

There was snow up Collingwood way here today. We have friends who live within 1/2 mile of the ski lifts, so they'll be happy. Although it will be a while before the ski season starts. There were flurries way too close for comfort here tonight.
Well, no snow in the city here. I guess there were a couple of flurries, but nothing that stuck. The mountains are looking nice though.
I guess I should explain the love of the snow. I grew up in the desert, so pretty much the weather was hot and slightly less hot. In the 14 years that I lived there, it snowed probably 7 times or so. On top of that, I spent my winters weekends on skis; we always went to the mountains about 2 hours north and to CO. So, snow was always meant fun. And still really does. I spent most of my weekends and some weekdays when I'm feeling *sick* snowboarding.
Anyway, food yesterday was lower in cals than expected. About 1237. I just wasn't hungry last night. Today seems to be heading about the same way.
It's been a pretty crappy morning. My computer has a virus, so I'm on the extra slow and useless loaner at work. I'm going to go to the gym after work and introduce front squats and deadlifts back into my workouts. At least that'll be a step in the right direction.
I added deadlifts back into my workout, which went really well. Next will be squats. I'm going to start with front squats just to work a little on form. I noticed that I was leaning a bit too far forward last time I did them (almost a month ago! Crazy!).
Anyway, here's a workout:
Deadlifts: 1 set 10 @ 95lbs, 2 sets 10 @ 115lbs
Chinups: 4, 3, 2
RDL: 1 set 10 @ 95lbs, 2 sets 8 @ 105lbs
Shoulder Presses: 2 sets 8 @ 25lbs
DB Flies: 3 sets 10 w/15e
Planks 2 for 60s each
All in all, it felt pretty good. It was great to lift the heavier weight again. And dang, my glutes are feeling it.
Yesterday, I rode the bike in the cardio room for 20 minutes on the hilly setting. My heartrate got up a bit, and I actually broke a sweat. So, that was good. And, it was a much needed frustration-buster. I was without my computer for the morning again yesterday and had to use the loaner. It just about killed me.
Thanks Bytsi and Pauline. I finally feel like I'm back in the swing of things.
So, I decided to leave work early Friday; I really needed it! And, on top of that, I took Friday and Saturday off of logging food. I still paid attention to what I was putting in my mouth, and am pretty sure that I was still just under maintenance, although, I wouldn't swear to it without plugging in the numbers. Either way, weight is holding steady in the 137.8-138.2 range. So, no complaints here.
I was planning on working out today, but, I've got some work to make up for from leaving the office Friday (which, as I'm sure you guessed, I'm supposed to be doing right now), then we're going over to my sister's house to bbq. It'll be a nice evening. And I'll just head to the gym tomorrow after work. No big deal.
Now, I'm going to check in on a few more logs, then get back to work.
How could I have forgotten?
Good things Friday and Saturday:
1. I took a much-needed half day from work, finally got out and voted, and just relaxed the rest of the day. Quite a nice change from my constant running around.
2. I made the decission not to log food the last two days, and I didn't get all compulsive about it. Instead, I ate when I was hungry and didn't when I wasn't--what a novel concept!
3. We went to a friends house last night for a pre-halloween party. I got to see some friends and I hadn't seen in a while, so that was nice. And, I didn't go overboard with the snack foods. Ok, I did have a mini pig in a blanket and a handful of pretzles, but nothing too over the top.
Good for you for voting early! I volunteered all day getting out the "vote early" message. Amazing how many people aren't even aware of voting early or how to do it.
Hey Christina! Just getting caught up on a couple of logs while I borrow dh's computer...you really had a bad few weeks there. Ankle injury, car wreck, and your poor bird. I'm glad you weathered the storm well emotionally, but I'm sorry you had to go through it all.
And on the storm note, snow and storminess rate high on my list of good things too! I can't wait to ski and board again--I'm really interested to see if my increased fitness will help my boarding skills any. Hope so :-)
Keep up the good work and great job on the new lows!

I know what you mean. I was expecting to see a big line at the early voting place, but there wasn't. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. Then when I told people I voted early, they were all surprised that you could. It's amazing to me because it all over the tv and radio.

Sounds like you had a much-needed, more relaxed than usual weekend.
Nice job on watching your intake while not having to count every little bit .
I have a co-worker that has declared that she's not going to vote. I'm so disappointed in her for it!
I did have a nice relaxing weekend. It was much needed! Today, I'm back on the run around like crazy way that I'm more used to.
I'd like to say that Sunday's food intake was a good as the other two days. But, the loaf of bread was calling. We went to my sister's house for dinner... a wonderful porkchop and a huge salad. I even went back in for seconds on the salad! But, then the loaf of bread won-over. Four of us polished off the whole thing. It was so good! Needless to say, carbs were crazy high yesterday! Oops...

Thanks Celeste. I think things are finally starting to settle down.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one excited for snow! A friend of mine gave me the best advice ever when I was learning to ride. She said to just trust the board; it's designed to do what you need it to. It seemed silly at the time, but the next time I went up, it all came together.
So...yesterday. Like I mentioned earlier, I had a crazy carb overload. And it was wonderful! Scale still hanging in my 137.8-138.2 range, with it at 137.8 this morning, so it couldn't have been too bad, right? Today, I'm back on track with my pre-planned little meals that don't include any bread. Boy do I love bread! Especially when it's hot out of the oven.
Good things:
1. Fire pits. Last night after grilling and carbing-up, we lit a fire in the outdoor fireplace thing and just hung out talking about nothing much. It was great. The only thing bad was that my asthmatic lungs are feeling all the smoke today. But, I can deal with that. There's really nothing like hanging out around a fire in 32 degree weather. It's the perfect balance of hot and cold.
2. We had a first hard freeze last night--it got down to 26! I know you all think I'm crazy for liking this, but, well, I do.
Rest of the day: I'm planning on getting my butt to the gym today after work, followed by making pesto chicken wraps for dinner. Oh, and working all day.
There was quite a line in our county for voting early. I'd say I waited at least 30 minutes. In the next county over, the lines were over 2 hours yesterday. I'd say the "get out the vote" message is being heard.....which is good. I predict a real jam on election day, so if you CAN vote early in your state, it's a great idea.
My H got a bread machine for his bday, and he tortures me with the smell of baking bread on a regular basis...
Yeah, it's a huge downfall for me. So, generally, I don't let myself have any fresh bread at all. It's just easier that way.

I'm surprised at how little the early voting turnout has been here, especially since our last election saw 4 hour long lines and some people didn't actually get to vote because of it. I agree--if you can vote early, do it.
And, now for a workout: Front Squats: 10 @ 45lbs, 8 @ 55lbs, 8 @ 60lbs. I've decided to do front squats to work on my form. It's obviously been a while since I've done these. I couldn't quite remember how to hold the bar without putting too much pressure on my wrists. I'll have to search back through some old posts to figure it out again. I think there's something with sticking out a pinky? I'll take a look later Bent over Rows: 3 sets 8 @ 35lbs Incline Bench Presses: 1 set 6 @ 65lbs, 1 set 3 @ 70lbs. I wasn't slated to do these today, but I thought I would after admitting my fear of getting stuck under the bar without a spotter. I did it, and I feel pretty good about it. And, I didn't get stuck. So, it was good. If I had a spotter, I probably would have tried a 4th or 5th rep @ 70, but really chickened out when my arms starting shaking. Push ups: 1 set 10 w/feet on bench, 1 set 8 w/feet on bench (ok, the bench was really a coffee table, and I did these at home instead of at the gym).
I made it a pretty quick workout and cut out the lunges I had planned because I got my chin up bar yesterday in the mail and I was anxious to put it together and give it a try. Unfortunately, my door-frames are too thick and it doesn't fit. So, I'm going to have to see if it fits in BFs doors. If so, I'll give it to him and make him buy me one that screws into the frame. I think it's the only way I can have one in my home. I'm a tad disappointed about it, but I suppose I'll live.
Food: cals were around 1560 for the day. Protein was spot-on. After Sunday's carbfest, I needed it. Scale this morning dipped a bit under my usual range to 137.6, so that's good.
Good things for the day...
1. I was going to make pesto chicken wraps for dinner, but was so excited about my bar, I grabbed a grilled chicken salad instead. It tasted really good. So, I'm glad I did that instead of cooking. I'll do the pesto tonight since I don't have anything to put together.
2. I slept really well last night. I've been having yo-yo sleeping, where I'll be awake for days, then sleep well for a couple of days, and then go back to not sleeping. Last night was a sleeping night, and I really needed it!
If everything works out today, I'll ride the bike in the cardio room around lunch-time and probably do some ab work, since I skipped that last night.
They have options (below the price) for doorways with wider walls and trim. This isn't what I have, but one I had looked at. I don't have one because even though they are manufactured in Canada... they don't ship to Canada (?)
