That trainer has some impressive credentials! I would love to work with someone. I have a few friends/acquaintances who are trainers, but I wonder how that relationship would pan out. I think it would be easier with a stranger. My little brother is thinking of going into sports medicine/training in school so that would workout nice for me

Pics look great too!

Thanks everyone.

Bree, There's only one friend I know who I would be ok with training me, and he's the one that turned me on to NROLW and the original. Otherwise, I think I'd go with someone I didn't know. I'm going to call up the gym today and see if I can set up a time to meet with this guy before committing to anything. I want to make sure that he's someone who will work with me moving towards my goals.

That brings up a good point, what are some questions I should ask when considering a trainer? Anyone?

Oh, I suppose I should mention I worked out last night:
Squats: 1 set 12 @ 90lbs, 1 set 12 @ 85lbs
Barbell Rows: 2 sets 12 @ 75lbs
DB Incline bench press: 2 sets 12 @ 20lbs. Should have gone higher, but was still feeling the pushups from the night before. Ouch--I've got to do those again tonight.
Lunge w/twist: 1 set 12 w/20lb bar, 1 set 12 w/30lb bar
Swiss Ball Crunch: 2 sets 12 w/10lb plate
Hip things w/leg bend: 2 sets 12. Ouch!

Food was 100% yesterday--I'm back in it!

I didn't check out your link, but I'd make sure you have the same philosophy your trainer does on the type of training you want to do. Heavy vs. light weight lifting. Mostly cardio or not. That kind of thing.

I'm back, and freaking hungry today! Dang! I'm sticking with my pre-packaged stuff, but I really really could eat something else. What is it about sitting in a conference room for 8 hours that makes a person hungry? Probably boredom, but still...

Thanks. Good tips. I was kind of thinking of things along the lines of being in tune with my goals, but I didn't know how to word it. I know oI don't want any cardio training. I figure I can run at home; I don't need to pay someone for that.

I know what you mean. During ski season I get hungry just walking into the lodge. I think it's knowing the food is free and it's so COLD that it's like my body thinks it needs to eat. (okay, that's not boredom, but along the same lines.)

So, it's official, the end of last week caught up with me and I'm up 1lb. Hopefully it'll come back off quickly. Ugh.

It's days like today I'm glad I can't eat dairy. All of the buttery pastries in the cafeteria downstairs are free today because they're using a new bakery. Everyone here is eating all sorts of crap. I had oatmeal (I fancied it up by adding chocolate protein powder and peanut butter---like always).

I survived yesterday's 9 hour meeting, and am 30 minutes into todays (clearly paying close attention again. I really should work on that!). All my food is packed and in the fridge. Hopefully I won't sit here hungry/bored again all day.

Celeste, I'm the exact opposite during ski season--when I'm out there, I forget to eat. But that's probably because I'm riding instead of working. And my food's not free.

Wow... free pastries! I don't know if I'd survive that!!! Glad you packed your food for the meeting - good job planning ahead!

I'm with Bytsi, although I'm kind of picky on my pastries so who knows. Good luck on dropping that extra pound. Saying no to the pastry was probably a good first step.

Christina, I'm the same way with sitting around making me hungry. When I'm very active I even forget to eat, but just sitting around makes me think about food. It probably is boredom... I'm having the worst time figuring out my new exercise schedule. My husband just went to third shift and doesn't get home until after 8:30 AM. He stays up all day and goes to sleep around 2 PM. I homeschool the kids and work at an office 4-5 hours a day. My gym childcare hours end at 8 PM. I've never been fond of evening workouts... So it's been tough trying to figure it out. I hope to be on some sort of real schedule beginning Monday. This week has been strictly catch up from vacation at work and home and getting school underway.

Luckily for me, resisting the pastries isn't too hard, as long as I convince myself that they're full of dairy. I can say, though, that the conference room smelt so good yesterday, and it wasn't because of my oatmeal.

I think it is the boredom.
That's quite a problem. I'm sure that you'll figure something out though. I'm the opposite--I can't workout in the mornings to save my life. I hate it (and mornings in general). I'm definetly an evening workout person. I usually stop off at the gym on my way home from work. It's pretty nice.
How was your vacation?

So, I'm way bloated today. Too much salt yesterday. I was really craving it though, so I used it in my food, something I never do. I'm feeling it today. Time to gulp down some water!

I didn't make it to the gym last night. By the time I left the office, I was just way too tired. I actually fell asleep on the train and missed the stop for the gym. I fell asleep again when I got home while waiting for BF and his son to come over for dinner and quality puppy-time. After dinner, you guessed it, I fell asleep. I'm really awake today though!

Worked out today...
Deadlifts: 2 sets 12 @ 110 lbs
Shoulder Presses: 1 set 12 @ 25lbs, 1 set 12 @ 20lbs
Chin ups: 3 sets 2 + 1
BSS: 1 set 12 w/10lbs, 1 set 12 w/20lbs
RDL 2 set 12 @ 95lbs
Swiss Ball Crunch: 2 set 15 w/25lb plate.

So, I'm really dissapointed today--the girl that pretty much enspired me to do chinups doesn't go down all the way. She lowers to about 90degrees. I'm glad that I was enspired to do chinups, but somehow, I still feel a little let down.

I'm down 1/2 of the pound I gained last week, so that tells me food is back on track (not to mention that I was about 92% compliant for the week--YAY!).

I feared getting burned out on all the high rep, low weights sets I was doing, and it happened, so, when I finish my modified FL1, I'm going to jump right into Hyp.1 instead of FL2. I'm also still toying with the trainer idea. I'm just not sure that financially I can do it quite yet. Maybe in another month.

Last night I accidently lighted up my humus recipe. Usually I use a can of garbanzo beans, a clove of garlic, lemon juice, and about 1/3 cup olive oil + whatever other flavor I'm feeling like. Last night, I ran out of olive oil, so instead I used water. It turned out tasting pretty good and has less than half the oil (added sun dried tomatoes and crushed red pepper--Yum!). I think from now on, I'll use this method. I don't miss the oil at all.

Today it's a pretty gloomy day out here--rain and cold, so before I left the house, I threw some buffalo meat and a bunch of veggies with vegetable broth in the crock pot. I can't wait to get home. It was already smelling really good when I left for work.

I've been thinking about it, and I think, for now, I'm going to stop the 100 pushups. I've been running around like crazy lately, and I just can't seem to find time to do them, and I don't seem to be totally motivated to do it either. So, for now, I'm going to focus on my eating, weekly workouts, and finding time to just relax for a few minutes.

It's strange isn't it? I've found that with other things, that I really don't miss what I've cut back on (ie. sugar and/or oil). One of these days I'll actually have to try making my own hummus....
