Be careful at the dog park! After what happened to Sophie, I am so scared of them.

Oh my gosh! I know! That's such a heart-breaking story. My heart goes out to you.

The park that I go to and the times I go typically has the same dogs day in and day out; it's a small neighborhood park (every now and then there's a new dog, but it's pretty rare). I feel pretty good about it. I don't go to the big one that seems to be a big free-for-all. The only run-ins I've heard of at the neighborhood park involve dogs running into people and causing injury. I got off easy. Earlier this summer a women got hit by a rottwieler and broke her femur. Ouch! I'm so glad I wasn't there that day!

Wow, what a story about the dog park thing. I'm getting more and more grateful to be living in the country...I hope you're feeling better today and the soreness doesn't last too long.

So, here's the update: Today I can move my head in all directions. It still hurts most when I look up, and there's a sore spot where my head meets my neck. Left shoulder still hurts when I do things like reach up. And, I'm bruised pretty deeply between my shoulder blades. I only really notice that though when I sit back in my chair or touch it for whatever reason. And, my favorite part, I'm a lot less stiff than yesterday. I think I'm going to try pushups tonight and a light workout tomorrow.

Food yesterday was good. I was at 100% again--yay! I cooked, and it wasn't horrible. I mainly used my right arm to stir.

Today I'm meeting with a dog walker that a good friend uses. I figured that Suzee might like a little walk/treat mid day a couple of times a week. And, I guess this women does overnights too if I go out of town and my sister can't take the pup. Plus, she's pretty cheap! I was surprised.

Good thing for yesterday...
I went back to the dog park with Suzee (I made BF come too). Mainly I hung by the fence, and by the time we left, I didn't feel too nervous about dogs around me (although I was a little out of wack when we first got there.). And there were some big ones there last night (of course, I knew all of them, but still)!
I made a yummy dinner of ground turkey with taco seasonings, salas, and goat cheese with other veggies. I seem to be on a taco seasoning kick right now. It's the only way I can stand the ground turkey, and it's pretty good!

Glad you're starting to recover... Dog parks make me nervous too - we've never actually let our pups loose in one, even though we've seen then a few times (one is where we park near a bike trail, one is near a walking path by our house). Just - too many dogs in pack mentality, owners who may not be as conscientious as we are (about vaccines, training - everything).

And bad shit happens, as we all saw horribly illustrated on this board...

We're lucky - we fenced in our yard and our dogs are small enough that they can really run fast in the backyard. I imagine if you have only one dog or don't have a yard, it'd be very tempting to go to the dog park for socializing and letting them off leash... The dog walker option sounds great!

The meeting with the dog walker went really well yesterday. Suzee liked her instantly, which isn't common for her. She's pretty timid around new people. So, she's starting on Tuesday, and coming two times a week. I think it'll be good for pup. I'm going to keep taking her to the dog park too because she loves it, and, like I said earlier, it's a small park and we know everyone there.

I did week2 day1 of 100 pushups--finally! Here's the details...
12
12
9
7
20
The last several were brutal. My left shoulder is still a bit out of wack, and I was feeling it.

Today I cannot stop sneezing. I'm not sure what's going on, but I don't like it. I'm going to try to go to the gym after work for break in b2. But, if I'm still super sneezy, I'll skip it. I don't want to sneeze mid-lift and hurt myself. We'll just have to wait and see...

Sounds like you're on the road to recovery, which is good. I keep looking at all of you ladies doing the push-up challenge and thinking, maybe. Then I remind myself I can always do it in the future. It looks like you're doing well though.

oh that was eye opening about the dog park. I've never been because it's a bit of drive. But after reading here, I don't feel guilty anymore.

You did 20 pushups, wow! Glad you are recovering

Thanks Ceebee and Anne! The 100 pushup program is actually kind of fun! By the end of week 6, I should be up to 100...at least that's what the program says.

I'm learning to keep my back against the fence at the park. It helps. Yesterday the same dog (Henry) that knocked me over was running like crazy. Suzee was chasing him this was and that. I stood very still and as close to the fence as I could get.

I'm having the ultimate cheat lunch today! It's BFs birthday, so we're going out to lunch. I'm certain I'll be nearing the 900cal range with all that I plan on eating. We're not going out for dinner though, and plan on just grilling if it hasn't started raining by dinner time. I think I can make it work if I plan it out a little and show some restraint at lunch.
For the most part, the rest of the week/weekend will be good food-wise; we're camping, which for us means a lot of grilling lean proteins.

running dogs are tricky - in a backyard or in a park -
you have to watch your dog (and be ready to step in if other dogs are impolite)
and at the same time you have to be aware of yourself and what is going on around you - if there are dogs playing fetch or otherwise running with abandon you can get clipped (in the football sense)

My current dogs are pretty could about watching where they run when playing chase with each other - in the past I've been clipped by my own dog in my own yard

Don't I know it! Suzee is pretty good at not running into things/people, but some of the others, well, I learned that lesson!

Lunch was wonderful. The only "special request" I made was no cheese; and that's only because I can't eat it. Surprisingly, macros aren't totally off. Calories are a bit higher than I like. All in all, not horrible.

Our camping trip for Friday is cancelled (well, really moved to a dinner party instead). It's supposed to be 40 and raining in the area that we were going to go. We're still hoping for Saturday with a different group.

Just is break in B2...it was interesting.
Chinups: 3-this was the only time during my workout that I felt the bruises on my back. It was, well, uncomfortable.
Deadlifts: 1 set 15 @ 105lbs, 1 set 15 @ 95lbs.
Close Grip Pull Downs: 1 set 13--7 @ 100, 6 @ 87.5; 1 set 14--6 @ 100, 4 @ 87.5, 4 @ 75lbs.
Step Ups: 2 sets 15 bodyweight. I started off doing these with 15e, got two into it before I realized exactly where on my leg the dog hit me. It freaking hurts! I didn't notice this before, because I really haven't done anything leg-wise since it happened. BW still hurt it a little, but it wasn't quite as bad. I tried stretching it out, but can't. I don't think it's muscle per se; rather a really deep bruise.
Shoulder presses: 1 set 15 w/side bend--10 w/20e, 5 w/15e; 1 set 15 10 w/20e, 5 w/15e. I didn't include the side bend on the second set.
Incline reverse crunch: 2 sets 20 at a small angle.

I followed up with shooting a couple of baskets before we got run off the court by the DU Women's basketball team. I feel really short now!

I think that about covers it for now...I'll do my 100 pushups tomorrow morning probably.

Nope, no pushups this morning. I ran out of time. It was too nice and cool to get out of bed early. Perfect for sleeping. This time of the year, these mornings are so rare, I took advantage of it. Pushups will have to wait for another day.

Saturday: did pushups:
16
13
11
11
15
Napped the rest of the day

Sunday:
Cleaned house--it's spotless now!

It rained from Thursday morning to Sunday morning non-stop. I had little to no energy, so I didn't do much. It actually felt kind of good. I'll be back in the gym Tuesday.

Food ended at 89% for the week. Not bad.
I finally bought a new scale and kept it out of the bathroom--this way wet dog can't break it. Nothing exciting to report. In the two weeks that I haven't had a scale, apparently I didn't gain or lose. That's ok by me.

More pushups tonight.

Yesterday's food was on-spot again. I managed to make room for a whole-wheat crusted, goat cheese pizza with chicken and spinach. Yum! Oh, and a glass of wine. It was a good night.

Did the 100 pushups last night, week 2 day 3:
15
15
12
12
21 (there was more rest before this last set because I got distracted by the men's rings competition--I think I was over the 120s by about a minute...)

Good things: I had a really busy day yesterday, but still managed to make time for me. It's rare that I do it, and really ought to more often. I really enjoyed my pizza and wine while relaxing on the patio. It wasn't too warm outside. It seems that the evenings and mornings here are a lot cooler than last week or the week before. That makes going outside much more pleasant. In fact, this morning I had to wear a long-sleeved shirt while walk/running the puppy. Love that!

I think in the grand scheme of things, taking an extra minute when doing 75 push-ups is still pretty impressive.
