Swimming

4X100 metre Freestyle
4X100 metre Breaststoke
4X100 Individual Medley (1 length of each stoke)

I love doing this - in/out showered and home in under an hour

Not training related but i needed somewhere to write this;

It's been a bad few days in terms of my granddad’s health. He's normally very on the ball - articulate, aware of his surroundings etc - a normal guy and completely 'with it'.

Unfortunately he's recently been diagnosed with early stages of cancer of the pancreas and was placed in hospital yesterday for some routine tests- they’ve got him in for a few nights but I think he's had a panic attack today.

When we got there, he was sat on the edge of the bed - in an open ward with all of his belongings lined neatly. I noticed that his PJ pants had fallen round his ankles, he didn't know/care. He was very agitated and wanted me to take his belongings home; seemed to think he'd be in trouble for having his own stuff. "Are these hospital spectacles? Better not let them catch me with my own bookmark!" They'll shout if they see I've got my own comb."

We asked a nurse to come but she was absolutely classless as to what was going on so we strongly recommended that a Doctor come. She asked him a series of questions - what year is it? 1892. How did you end up here? I banged my elbow, it's just a bruise.

He did seem to come round a little when we finally got him back lying in his bed and got him talking about the old days.

A very worrying night. I really hope this is not a sign of things to come. He has some more tests scheduled for Monday, we’ll find out more after these, at the moment we are still very much in the dark.

Workout A

A= Front Squat 4X6X154lbs

B1= Single Arm DB Row 6X4X45lbs

B2= Incline DB Bench Press 6X4X77lbs

C1 = negative chin up 3X3XBW

Side Notes - my granddad had his tests today, we don't know the results yet but since my last visit he's gotten back to his sharp self. The Doctors think it may have been a combination of shock and also worry at leaving my grandmother.

Sad to hear about your Granddad, I have heard many peoples accounts of older peoples behavior changing like this when in the hospital. Must be something in the generations?? I hope he is home soon to your loving family...always the best medicine. My love to your Gran too!

I'm so sorry to hear about your granddad, Neil. It's encouraging that he's back to his ordinary self. He'll be in my thoughts.

So sorry to hear about your granddad, Neil. That's tough. I'm glad he's feeling a bit better now. Enjoy each day that you have left with him. They're golden.

Thanks, Rob. Spent a bit of time with him today, he looks a bit 'beaten up' but still glad to see us.

I've not logged in some time, today was actually the last 'Workout A'

Workout A

A= Front Squat 6X6X165lbs

B1= Single Arm DB Row 6X4X47.5lbs

B2= Incline DB Bench Press 6X4X77lbs

C1 = negative chin up 3X3XBW

This plan is 3 months, by Sunday it will have taken me just short of 6 to complete.

Plan for future - Finish TNT, Summit, hopefully start new Job (much easier for gym), NROL

Workout B

A= Ipsilateral Back Lunge 3X12X22lbs

B1= Leg Lowering 3X12XBW

B2= Incline Lower Trap Raise 3X12X11lbs

C1 = Push Up +Row 8X3X5.5lbs
C2=Hip Thigh Extension = 3X12xBW

That sees the end of the TNT workout.

Thoughts

Positives
  • Happy I made it all the way through
  • I think I may come back to do the advanced routine in the future.
Negatives
  • It took far too long, constancy/self destructing has always been an issue for me
  • Fluctuating diet meant I didn't get the results I wanted.
The Summit can't come quick enough for me, I'm thinking of doing a full year of NROL so will be looking to pick the brains of the NROL experts (having Lou there will be great and Mahler's guidance will be invaluable also.)

I've been a sucker for buying programs/books because I am interested in the subject but then end up flitting between programs. I'm fairly certain that I’ll be cutting down on my purchases and sticking with what I know will get the results long term.

It is a haha, we can buy books so much faster than we can get through programs.

Seriously, sorry to hear about your grandfather. I am sure you are a really important part of his life these days. God Bless.
