Kara, I BARELY made it thru week 3. Today is Week 4 Day 1 for me, and at least I get somewhat of a break from W3D3. We'll see if I can do it. You are doing great! I figure if we have to repeat a week, so what....we are still improving lots!

kara, nice job on the push ups!

my kids and i visited my sil in dc in april (right before she went to china - she's a nurse practitioner with doctors without borders). i'm no history fan either, but there is just something about being there in the heart of it all. and i started liking history a bit more when i figured out that literature (which i love!) is just history in another form.

Default Bri's workout 2C

Thanks everyone!

So I have determined that Mon-Wed-Fri is not working for me gym-wise. With the way my fridays go now that i'm working and either driving or doing things after work on friday, I haven't been to the gym on a friday since I've been here. This can't keep happening or I will make no progress. As it is I don't think there will be any changes in this month's update. So I have decided to do MWF this week (I'm not doing anything Friday so I'll actually be able to go this time) then I'm going to switch to Sun-Tues-Thurs. I will then do the pushups on MWF since they don't take as long.

That being said... here's today's workout:

A1: Dynamic Lunges:
2x15(e) w/ 15s
1x15(e) w/ 17.5s

A2: Assisted Chin-ups:
1x15 w/ 60lbs of assist
2x15 w/ 50lbs of assist

B1: DB incline bench press:
2x15 w/ 17.5s
1x15 w/ 20s (possible PR... but I don't remember.. I'm going to make a list of my PRs for certain lifts so I'll actually know and not have to look it up or guess every time)

B2: DB bent row:
3x15 w/ 15s

C: Jack-knives with 2 sec holds (aka... the devil jack-knives)
2x10 w/ BW
1x7 w/ BW

Phew.... sweating bullets by the end... they need better air circulation in there!

Also need to start tracking my food again. I keep falling off the bandwagon with teh tracking. The food itself isn't bad (usually) but the portions are likely the problem if there is a problem at all. Weekends are also problems since I eat very differently on weekends. Tracking is a huge pain, but I need to start doing it again.

Catching up on some logs on my business trip to SC. Nice job on the workouts. I am jealous of the push up program. For some reason doing a lot of push ups gives me tennis elbow so cannot do it at this time but have it ear marked for when the thing is fully healed.

i like sun-tues-thurs at the gym, i find it much quieter and can get in and get out. it's funny tho, i usually have the barbell weight room to myself, but today there were three people who seemed to be trying for single rep max deadlifts. it was great to watch them, since i've never actually seen anyone doing dls except me!

Looking good in here, Kara. Your new schedule sounds like it will work best for you, right now.

Default Pushups wk 2 day 3

So I feel like I never chitchat in here anymore, what with the new job and everything. I miss it in here! lol. I love the new apartment, I'm still working on getting stuff organized but overall it's nice. I like the new job, though it's been boring the first couple weeks since I didn't have access to things I need to have access to. But things should pick up pretty soon. The people in my unit are really nice, which makes things so much better.

Side note: My poor dad is going crazy with these business trips! IBM keeps sending him to France, which sounds awesome to anyone outside the situation. The first few times he went he didn't even get to see the Eiffel Tower he was so busy. He's been there for 2 weeks, then is back for a week before they ship him out again. He was here last week to help us move my sis into her dorm but then he left yesterday for another 2 weeks over there. He'll be home for a week after that then it's three weeks over there! It never ends! The poor thing has jet lag like crazy and his job is so stressfull anymore. I feel so bad for him. I'm such a little daddy's girl and I hate to see him so stressed out all the time. I hope this project ends soon.

OK, enough chit-chat for now... time for pushups!
Week2 Day 3:
Five sets as always:
5
5
4
4
12

Phew... these are getting harder! And they're starting to take a toll on my shoulders. They pop like crazy and it's starting to bother me. Bri looked at them this past weekend and it seems I have a tendon or soemthing that's popping or something (I don't remember exactly what he said.. it was very technical-sounding) I hope they don't cause me too many problems. Gosh, why do my 22 yr old joints feel 52 sometimes? I'm gonna be a mess when I'm older!!!

Default Bri's workout 3A

Happy Hump day! We're in the homestretch of this week!

A1: Squat:
3x12 w/ 75lbs

A2: Ecentric chin-up (had to use lat pulldown machine instead and couldn't superset with the squats either)
3x25sec.

B1: Roman chair hip extention:
3x12 w/ BW and 2 sec holds at top (ouch!)

B2: DB shoulder press:
3x12 w/ 17.5s

C1: Wide grip cable rows:
3x12 w/ 50

C2: Swiss ball crunches/planks
1x12 ball crunches with holds at top and slow lowers.
Didn't feel those enough so I did 2x90sec planks for the last 2 sets.

Felt just OK... I feel a little stalled with my squats. The reps were lower so I should have been able to do more weight, but I couldn't. Same with the cable rows. Oh well.. maybe next time...

I'm glad you like the apartment and that the job is going well, Kara. I hate to hear about your Dad being all stressed out.

Keep an eye on that shoulder so that you don't injure yourself. I'm sure you are, it's just the mom in me coming out.

Default US Open!

How excited am I that it's US OPEN time!?!!! Rafa Nadal is starting to play right now and I LOVE him! And I can't be the only one who is psyched beyond belief that he beat stupid Federer out of the number 1 spot finally! I am soo not a sports fan, but tennis is the one sport I will actually sit and watch... and yell at the tv for!

A random post, I know, but I know someone agreed with me about Rafa before and thought I'd share that he's playing at this very moment (well, ok, he's warming up currently, but play will start very soon)

I'm keepin my fingers crossed that he can keep up his awesome winning streak. French Open, Wimbledon, Olympics... he's on a roll! Go RAFA!

Oh yeah and I'll be back to post push-ups later

Thanks so much Jane! You are always so sweet. :-)

Push ups today was the test to see how many I can now do in a row to see where I start week three (which btw looks INSANE!!!)

Two warm up sets of 5 each
Then.... wait for it.....
1 set of 15!!!!!! woo hoo!
That last rep was absolutely killer and it took a couple seconds to get all the way back up, but I did it! (Then collapsed on the floor 100% spent, haha)

So that would 15 in a row... which is 10 more than I managed the first time I did this test to see where I would be for the first week. 200% increase? Yup, that's what I thought :-)

Just reading some new logs....your workouts look great. This whole push-up thing everyone is doing is so awesome. Keep it up!

Also, I love watching tennis too! My husbands whole family played so they are really into it. I used to be in love with Andy Roddick but he has been disappointing lately - but I still like to cheer him on! I am also glad someone other then Roger is winning. Although I think Nadal needs some new pants. He is always picking at his wedgie!

Haha I don't think it's a new pants issue. He's very OCD and I think the wedgie-pick is part of that. It's a habit he's gotten in to and he does it before every point, I'm pretty sure he does it regardless of if there's anctual wedgie or not! I think he's adorable though. Awesome match last night too, straight sets!

I love Rafa - I think I was the one who posted with you about him a while ago... maybe I should add Rafa to the list thread that Kristen started!

Default Bri Workout 3B

Wasn't too motivated today, but the workout went pretty well for the most part.

A1: Deadlifts:
1x12 w/ 75lbs
1x12 w/ 80lbs
1x10 w/ 80lbs

A2: Bench press:
1x12 w/ 55
1x10 w/ 65
1x8 w/ 65

B1: BB bent-over row:
1x10 w/ 65
1x12 w/ 65
1x10 w/ 65
*not sure why my reps went down this time, I did 3x15 at this weight last time

B2: Dips:
1x12 w/ 70lbs assist
1x12 w/ 60lbs assist
1x8 w/ 50lbs assist (a little too hard)

C1: RDL
2x12 w/ 80
1x12 w/ 85

C2: Russian twist upper body:
1x12(e) w/ BW (hanging side leg raises instead)
1x10(e) w/ BW (twist)
1x7(e) twist (got bored)

I am so over this week. Very glad it's the weekend and I'mnot going anywhere! That means I finally have time to get stuff done around teh apartment and get everything organized. I'm also going to the DMV tomorrow to become an official Virginia driver (scary) and r
