So, I am at a bit of a loss.... This month is not going to go well, I can tell. I can't get to the gym unless I go with mom as her guest, otherwise it would be 60 bucks for one freakin month and that's just ridiculous. Since my gym-going will be a tad sporadic I don't think I can really follow NROL right now... but I will be able to start in August when I move and the challenge starts, so that will coincide nicely. I just need to figure out what to do while I'm at the gym now... I think maybe I'll work on some exerises that I'm not sure on form with.... we shall see... but mom wants to go now, so I'll be backlater

So do something else? A bodyweight program maybe might be good in terms of equipment. Or, just buy yourself a dumbbell and do some circuit training. Much cheaper than any gym.

Wow.... a week and a half away from the gym can do not-so-nice things to your strength! The numbers from today's workout weren't great. Also, the gym was being a douchebag. I've gone a couple times with mom before and never had a problem.... today the guy kept telling us we had to pay 15 dollars for a guest pass. So after we argued with him for a while he got someone else to help us who said "Oh sure, go right in". I thought maybe he was new but mom said he's there all the time, so I don't know what stick was up his ass today. But I have a feeling I can't go as a guest of hers anymore, cuz he'll just be a dick again, so it looks like I'm stuck working out at home for this month... and my willpower when it comes to that doesn't have a very good track record. Dad has some DBs and a small BB, but no rack, so squas are out, but maybe I can work on low-weight DLs.... we don't have many plates. I'm going to see if I can find some good bodyweight routines to hold me over for the rest of the month.... if anyone has any in mind please let me know.
Today's workout: Did my next NROL workout since I didn't have time to figure out another plan before we went to the gym.
Strength 1, Workout 2B
A1: Bench press:
1x6 w/ 65
1x2 w/ 75
1x6 w. 65
1x1 w/ 75
1x12 w/ 55
A2: BB Bent-pver row:
1x6 w/ 75
1x2 w/ 85
1x6 w/ 75
1x1 w/ 95
1x10 w/ 75 (form wasn't good on the last few reps here)
B1: Lat pulldown:
2x8 w/ 70lbs
*shoulder kept clicking here.... I think I'm slowly falling apart...
B2: DB shoulder press:
1x8 w/ 20s
1x6 w/ 20s
C: Twist crunches on Stabilityball since I hate those lowerbody russian twist things and my back hurts as it is.
2x10(e)
Notes:
-Felt obnoxiously weak after having been away for a while... I have a feeling the beginning of Augus will not be pretty after being away from heavy weights this month.
-I think my body is rebelling against me. I'm not sure what I did to it. And I've been resting the past week and a half so I would have thought it would be beter by now. For the last two weeks or so my knees have been so achey. They feel like they're not aligned correctly, which I know sounds ridiculous, but they're definitely giving me problems. The right side of my lower back hurts too... and has for about the same amount of time. I'mnot sure if they're related or not. When I see Bri this weekend I'm going to see if he has any idea how to fix me (I love that he's going to school for PT, I've got so many body problems and it's awesome that eventually he'll know exactly how to fix them... but of course I love him for many more reasons than just that, lol )
-Not sure what's up with the clicking shoulders either... not only did they click when i did the lat pulldowns, but also on the benchpresses.... like I said, my body is mutany-ing against me.
Food is also really difficult for me to track right now. I would really like to focus on some fat loss before I get back to my lifting, but I'm not sure how to do that when Ihave little control over what food is available to me here. My mom always makes healthy stuff, but there are more carbs than would be ideal. I'm going to try to write things down, but I may not be able to track cals well.
I think thaty's enough ranting/raving for today.... I'm going to try to track down some good bodyweight programs to hold me over till August. It's been obnoxiously hot the past few days, but for a couple days in a row we've been playing tennis, which is great to get me moving, since I tend to sit around all day doing nothing while I'm home.
Oh and btw.... I'M SO FREAKING HAPPY NADAL BEAT FEDERER AND WON WIMBLEDON!!!!!!!! Did you SEE that match? Freaking incredible is that only way to even remotely describe it.... absolutely freaking amazing!

Kara, can you check out all the gyms in the area and see if someone would be willing to give you a "student" rate for a few weeks. I would think with all the college kids home for the summer that most gyms would try to cater to them. No?

The workout I'm doing now has 9 exercises done as a circuit, 1 minute each exercise, as many reps as possible in that one minute. I do it 3 times through, resting between circuits and as needed between exercises. All it takes is one dumbbell (or one kettlebell).

Very much agreed! It's nasty, nasty, nasty! I've tried it a few times to see if I could adjust my taste buds to tolerate but nope. Ew.
Hope you get something worked out for your workouts! Anything to keep up the habit would be a good thing, even if it's not a "real" weights workout, ya know?

I called all the gyms in the area (other than curves.... which doesn't count anyway, lol). There's only 2, MAC which is the one my mom goes to,and the new planet fitness that just opened. With either one, the best they can do for the month is 60 bucks (or thereabouts) which is too steep for me right now. I've definitely tried, but I gues Ill have to make due with what's here.

Thanks Tom! I'll have to check out your log to see what you're doing.

Exactly... because once you fall off the bandwagon it's so darn hard to get back on!

Did it not read the substitute Mahler Monday Morning Motivation this week?
I don't think you have to give up - make the best of it. As for squats, do goblets or hold a db in each hand - not the same as with a rack, but it's better than nothin'... C'mon Kara - be creative - I KNOW you can get your workouts in!

Good news!
So my mom reminded me that we have a YMCA here and I called to find out how much it would be for the month and it's 30 bucks, which isn't bad. I was still kind of deciding about it though because after paying bills yesterday my checking account is down to astronomically low numbers.... so my mom said she'd pay the 30 dollars as a "last hurrah" before I leave! Aren't moms the best? So now that I'll be at an actual gym I can keep going with my NROL workouts. Also, since I'm doing absolutely nothing other than that, I'm going to do it 4x a week instead of three... MTRF is what I'm going to try to shoot for. And on weekends I'm going to try to get some running in... we'll see how that goes though since I pretty much despise running, lol. But I'm happy to ave a gym to go to again!

Oh crap
Well, I attempted workout 2C today... went well for the first half or so at the new gym. But with so many deadlifts in this workout and my back already being tweaky... I tweaked it out more and now it hurts really bad. It's not a bone/joint pain though, which is good, but I feel like my muscle or a nerve is pinched or something, it's very uncomfortable. Thankfully Bri will be up visiting this weekend and he gets here later today so I'm hoping he can help me fix it.
The numbers:
A: Deadlifts
1x6 w/ 95lbs
1x2 w/ 105lbs
1x6 w/ 95lbs
1x2 w/ 105lbs
1x12 w/ 75lbs
1x15 w/ 65lbs
(6 sets just seems like so darn much!)
B1: RDL:
1x10 w/ 75lbs
1x8 w/ 75lbs
*2nd set here is where I felt my back tweak out more, so I didn't do the third set.
B2: Static lunges:
2x8(e) w/ 20s
*grip was suffering here like woah
That was it, couldn't finish after my back tweaked out. Grrr...
This weekend should be really fun (if my back decides to cooperate with me). Bri and I are triple dating to Great Escape in Lake George tomorrow with my best friend from HS and his gf, and my sis and her bf. I haven't been there in so long and I'm so excited! Then the fam and the bfs are staying in Lake George with 14 very close family friends at their lake house, so it should be a great time! I'm hoping I can take it easy a bit and rest this stupid back of mine..... I am much too young to feel this old....

I'm glad you found a gym membership, that will work for you. That really is a lot of deadlifts....Whoa. Take care of your back pain. Seriously. Take it easy this weekend and enjoy your time, with your man. Oh, take some pictures of the Lake to share, too.
