I'm doing the Strength one... and it's showing me how incredibly un-strong I am when it comes to 1-legged exercises. It's humbling, but I'm hoping it will help.

Default Strength 1, workout B1

What a day! We had our crime scene practical alll day from 8:30 to 4... 3 bodies, one of which was upside-down in the shower in lacy lingerie, one was shot in the head, the other beaten... oh it was a grand old time. I swear, documenting crime scenes is not as fun as people who watch CSI think it is! (Sorry, pet peeve, lol)

Then, I got the phone call I've been waiting, oh, 3 or 4 months to hear... Congratulations your background is fully cleared and we're ready to have you on board! So I officially work for the government as of August 4th!

So I usually work out in the morning, but since I had such a long day I figured I'd go afterwards... which was a little weird. but it went well! I'm gonna have to figure out when to go to the gym consistently once I have this full-time job.... it was uber easy on a student schedule, but I don't know how early I'm willing to wake up to lift... and I have a feeling my motivation will be lacking after work... but we'll see.

Ok, enough talking.... on to my workout!

Strength 1, Workout B1

Superset with rest: Goal : 5 sets of each, Sets 1 and 3 = 6 reps, Sets 2 and 4 = 1 rep, Set 5 = 10-12 reps. @ mintues rest between each exercise.

BB Bench Press:
1x6 w/ 65lbs
1x1 w/ 85lbs
1x6 w/ 65lbs
1x2 w/ 75lbs
1x12 w/ 55lbs

BB Bent over row:
1x6 w/ 85lbs
1x1 w/ 95lbs
1x6 w/ 85lbs
1x2 w/ 95lbs
1x10 w/ 75lbs

Superset with rest: Goal: 2x6-8 with 2 minutes rest between exercises

Close-grip lat pulldown:
1x8 w/ 75lbs
1x8 w/ 80lbs

DB shoulder press:
2x8 w/ 20s

Straight Set: Goal 2x10 each side

Lower body russian twist:
1x10(e) w/ BW
1x10(e) w/ 10lb med ball
*Um yeah, so I didn't know about this exercise and Bri has the book so I kind of made it up... I found a video of some guy doing it laying on the ground with his legs perpendicular in the air and twisting them side-to-side to the floor. So that's what I did for the first set, it felt weird so I figured I was doing it wrong, then I did a different version I'm not sure how to explain... so I'll figure out what the heck I'm supposed to do and do it next time!

Notes:
-Gym wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be at 5:00pm!
-I like wearing really short-sleeve shirts to the gym... I can see muscles!!!
-Um.. how important is tempo? Because I totally forgot to pay attention to it, yet again.... oh well

Hey, you are living my life -- err, the life I should have had! CONGRATS TO YOU! I can live vicariously through you now!

Thanks for your comments in my log. You would come in MUCH lower than me -- I'd actually like to see that. Because since we are built so similarly, it'd give me something to shoot for, too! Now, all I have to do is rewind the clock a few (ahem) years.

totally my opinion - not as important as it seems when it gets specifics. I tend to always do the working part of the lift as fast as
I can move that amount of weight (even if that turns out to be slow because it is heavy) and let it return slower. Very slow eccentrics, pausing and where to pause - those are nuances that I don't think you'd notice if you missed them.

Real life never really holds up to television.

Congrats on the job. I went through a high level security check in early college (work term), which I found funny. The guy in the RCMP uniform didn't. I found it funny because I had to document the last 10 years in detail. When I was 9..... ya know.

Kara:

Once upon a time in a past life, I was an archeologist. People always asked me if it was like Indiana Jones. Definitely wasn't that.

Congrats on the new job!

Default Strength 1, workout 1C

Well, this weekend was very nice, but it's back to reality....
I did not eat very well this weekend, but thankfully the scale didn't move up... hovering around 132 which is still a "real" drop from the 134-135 that i was before, so I'm fairly content with that.

This workout is kickin my butt! I felt pretty weak today, the numbers seem pretty good, but I wasn't feelin it today I guess. And my grip strength was awful! I like this program though, so we'll see how it goes as I move along...

A: Deadlifts:
Goal: 6 sets, Sets 1 and 3 = 6 reps, sets 2 and 4 = 1 rep, set 5 = 10-12, set 6 = 15-20.
1x6 w/ 100lbs
1x2 w/ 110lbs
1x6 w/ 95lbs
1x2 w/ 105lbs
1x11 w/ 80lbs
1x15 w/ 75lbs

B1: RDL: Goal = 3x8-10
1x10 w/ 75lbs
2x10 w/ 80lbs
*grip was becoming a major problem here!

B2: Static lunge: Goal = 2x8-10
1x8(e) w/ 55lbs
1x8(e) w/ 2 20lb DBs
*Form was not very good on the first set, so I dropped weight and did DBs instead, with better form.

C1: Good Morning: Goal: 2x10
1x10 w/ 45lbs
1x10 w/ 50lbs
*Never did these before, so kept it light-ish. I think my form may need some work on these, but I don't think they were too bad.

C2: Hanging leg raise (subbed for incline rev crunch)
2x10 w/ BW

I'm jello right now :-)

Thanks Jane! I really don't think I would come in much lower than you. Granted I have not done Omron or calipers consistently, but when I had a hand-held thing (like and omron) done in december or so, it was in the 30s and I remember being shocked and kind of upset... and of course I happened to be with Bri at the time and when he did it his number came up as 4% so I was even more upset! Stupid boys with their almost negative body fat... grr ANyway, if that errs on the low side then I may very well be right where you are.

Default Eww, gross

So.. how is it that people can stand to eat oatmeal with protein powder in it? Since I'm moving out in 4 days and don't want to do more food shopping than necessary I tried to eat stuff in the pantry for lunch... that became oatmeal, and since I figured I needed more protein in my life (as always) I added half a scoop of my protein to it.... then tried to doctor it with some cinnamon and 2 splenda packets.... UGH! It's disgusting! How do you people eat this??????
